within walking distance of most of Halifax, across the street from the beautiful gardens

For first time travelers to Halifax, this is a great hotel because of being easy walking distance to several really great places to see. Plenty of eating places from which to choose - all having great food. No problems with the room at all and we slept great. The helpfulness and friendliness of everyone we encountered was simply amazing. The downside of this hotel is airport transportation and hotel parking. A taxi ride between the hotel and airport was rather expensive, however it was offset by not paying hotel parking since we arrived too late at the airport to pickup our rental car. We would definitely stay at the Lord Nelson again.

The staff was wonderful. The rooms were clean and comfortably. I believe all the rooms are being upgraded with new furniture.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I highly recommend the hotel because it was extremely clean and comfortable beds.

Good stay. Convenient. Close to a bunch of restaurants and across the street from nice public park.

Very nice, classic hotel which has been updated. Loved the common areas. Great staff. Friendly and always helpful. Room was a bit small esp the bathroom but not unexpected for this style hotel. In easy walk to the Citadel and Public Gardens. 10 min walk to the water front area. Would stay here again.

I can walk to my dinner cruise within 20 minutes. Very convenient, reasonable rates, Received good advice on parking options.

The room was clean and the staff were very helpful. However the walls of the room are too thin and you can hear everything going on in the next room. The hotel location is great right in the middle of everything but the hotel gouges on parking( $22 + tx, a day ) and tried to slip in extra charges for the globe and mail that was not requested. The hotel is also not completely handicapped accessable. My husband walks with a cane and the elevator (the one that is not a service elevator) that goes to the parking requires you to climb some steps to get to your car.

staff were relaxed, friendly and professional air quality very good

My stay in Lord Nelson was amazing experience. It is perfectly located in the heart of the city. I didn't need to use public transportation most of the time. within walking distance you can find almost all what you need of shopping, resturants, and all other type of entertainment. The staff are welcomning and friendly.

This is a character hotel from in the day that has been modernized with all amenities. Best of both worlds.

The hotel is at an excellent location, just one/two blocks from a number of 24-hour establishments (which is a really big deal in Halifax). Basically on their equivalent of Fifth Avenue in NY in terms of shopping, banks and restaurants.

We enjoyed the hotel, but had a problem with the first room. Once we spoke to the Front Desk, they quickly moved us to another room. Good job! However, we were not able to get the wifi to work in our room. It did work in the lobby, but...

Pretty view of the park. In the heart of downtown Halifax. Staff were all helpful. Can walk to everything.

i was surprised howwell the hotel and facilitieswere. i recommend this hotelhighly especiallyto familyustomers. very courteous and helpful staf Simon Bala Toronto

The Lord Nelson is a great place to stay in Halifax because it is within walking distance of everything downtown and by the waterfront. The building is uplifted and well appointed with old world charm. The Victory Arms restaurant/bar was a comfortable place to gather with good, affordable food. Overall a great value for what feels like a more expensive stay.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a Ritz in the US. Its on the corner of the biggest shopping district in Halifax and across the street from the Public gardens that was created by the same man who created Central Park in NYC. It is just a short walk away from many historic sites such as the Citadel as well as the beautiful harbor. Check in and check out was easy and the room was immaculate. I highly suggest this hotel.

Very friendly, helpful staff. The plane was late and we didn't arrive until 1:30 a.m. The suite was spacious, clean, welcoming and the pillow top beds were so comfortable. This is an old fashioned hotel with mahoghany and brass and thick carpets. Very conveniently located for walking everywhere. Local ground transportation top notch.

This is an elegant older hotel that has been completely renovated, combining charm, luxury and total comfort. It faces the magnificent must-see Public Gardens, is a few blocks from the Waterfront, and even closer to the Citadel. It is off Spring Gardens Road which has shops and restaurants, as well as a city bus going down to the Waterfront. We were able to park in a metered spot right across the street, which became free for the entire week-end at 6 p.m. Friday, thus avoiding the $20 a night parking fee at the garage adjacent to the hotel. Leave car parked- everything is walking distance (though the walk back from waterfront is steep). The [...] price for this hotel was an amazing value, both in comparison to the other upscale hotels in Halifax and in comparison to a comparable hotel in most other cities. (We did not check out the restaurants in the hotel, so I gave this a neutral rating).

Fast check-in and check-out. Great restaurants, bars and shopping near by. Very elegant hotel.
