family
the stay as a whole we're good. great location, home was perfect in size. we had several issues. which management responded very quickly. the place wasn't clean like management expects. The management group made the trip really great. and so the trip was really good. The only recommendation I would make is, hire me or someone else to clean your properties.

Great price and location, but disappointing conditions throughout
We were extremely surprised with our recent stay at the Purple House East given the description, photos, 4.5 star rating, and previous reviews. The location, proximity to the beach, the space the home provided, and the price/night were definitely the positive features. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh these previous aspects. Upon our arrival, the renters of the west side had at least six vehicles and a motorhome parked all around the property so we did not have any parking spaces. The property itself is in need of updates and maintenance throughout. On the main level, there were many cracked floor tiles, the finish was peeling off of the kitchen cabinets, some of the furniture was broken/in need of replacement, water stains and peeling drywall tape were on ceilings and walls, and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, which had been sprayed with a mold remover that has streaked the wall paint. We also had bugs crawling across the floor on several occasions. The ice maker seemed to be an awesome feature, until it started overheating, indicating it was in need of service, and had bugs in the bottom. The management company was called on our second day to report the issue and we were told they would send someone out the following day, but no one ever called or showed up to repair it throughout the remainder of our stay.
The second floor had more of the same conditions with needed drywall repair, peeling wall paint, rusting light fixtures, finishes peeling off of the shower/tub, closet shelving ripped out of the wall in one closet, scratches from pets on the back of the doors/trim (although it is stated pets aren't allowed). In addition there were loose door handles (that I had to tighten or else they would have fallen off), a loose shower handle, dead bugs in light globes, TV remotes with missing batteries, and a missing blind on a patio door.
There were major safety concerns on the exterior of the property. The patio and stairway railings were extremely loose, gates that didn't latch or were broken, and there were nails sticking up in all of the decking. The deck railing can be easily wiggled. You cannot lean on it and we had to warn the children not to lean on it or touch it for fear that it would collapse.
I'm not sure if all these issues are deferred maintenance by the owners or a lack of communication between the management company and the owners regarding the current condition of the property.
