Have stayed a number of times at this hotel and absolutely love the rooms and facilities. Beds are super comfortable and the rooms are really spacious and super clean. Service is always top-notch and they do seem to urgently care about making your stay really enjoyable. The buffet restaurant had gone downhill a little on my last visit but I am hoping this will be rectified for in time for my next visit.

Arrived yesterday, it’s our 4th visit, we came June 19 and loved it! This time it’s very different, it’s only been a few months since our last visit but the Staff seem to be rebelling! Second day in and have come for food at the Market Grill, ordered a prawn dish and they brought it out without prawns on and no sides. When I asked they said we don’t have prawns today! When I asked to order another dish they were very rude, I didn’t even get an apology. My new meal has just come out- no new sides so I’ll eat the cold ones and it’s a kids portion. I will never visit here again, very disappointed.

Overall a great experience...beautiful hotel amazing infinity pool but best of all amazing for my son who has multiple food allergies...Marco the manager and Ramesh the chef went over and above to provide food for my son that was sage an delicious ...whatever we needed was never too much ....very impressed ...would definitely come again .

Travelled end of August with TUI to this Sensatori Hotel on an all inclusive board basis. Rooms/Hotel: the hotel itself is beautiful and very well kept. The grounds are lovely with lots of plants, water features and nature. Seating areas are really nice and plenty of places to sit and chill out. The rooms are spacious, have nice décor and not too far from the amenities. However we found our room was facing towards the back/side of the hotel, which looked over a dis-used pool and street buildings, which wasn't that pleasant. Our bed was very hard to sleep on and the pillows uncomfortable too. The lighting in the bathroom was very dim (when you finally worked out the light system!) so made it difficult to get ready in. We also got charged 18 Euros for two gins that we definitely didn't take out of the mini bar. I am assuming it wasn't stocked correctly in the first place, which is why we got charged. We queried it with reception, who were very good and took it straight off our bill without a fuss. Overall nice rooms, just could have been a little better in areas. Also loved how environmentally friendly they were with cartons of water, recycling bins and not cleaning rooms every day. Food/drink: We were on the all inclusive package so had most branded drinks and food included. Only things that weren't included was anything with a supplement (very expensive drinks and food items in set restaurants) oh and crisps...1 euro 50 for a packet of crisps.... the main buffet restaurant was very nice with lots of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The food was delicious and always tasted very fresh. It could get busy around meal times an often there would be a queue to get in the buffet and a short queue for some of the food that was cooked in front of you. We also tried the Japanese restaurant and lunch restaurant by the pool, which were both very good. Staffing was the main let down for food and drink. Only one main bar for the pool which always had a constant queue through the day! One day we waited 20 minutes for a drink. Staff are working hard but just not enough of them to keep the queues moving! Could be a little slow in the buffet restaurant too, however I understand they are busy and doing their best. The main bar in the evening got quite busy too. Overall we really loved the food, just needed more staff for this busy period, oh and book quickly for the speciality restaurants (they go very quickly!). Be aware that if you check out of your room at 12, you will have to pay for everything after that time!!! Pools: the infinity pool is wonderful and didn't ever feel busy due to its size, however the beds around it could get quite busy and noisy. There were also lots of areas segregated off for the other customers, which was a bit annoying. We opted to stay around the adult-only pool which was a slightly warmer pool and always found a bed in the morning. Pools seemed clean, however there were quite a few cracked tiles that need replacing and just didn't look that nice. We rented out one of the bali beds for 60 euros and that was wonderful and very comfy. You can pay for these by not having your room cleaned every day, which earns you credit to spend! Brilliant idea and something we hadn't experience at any other hotels. Entertainment/activities: the evening entertainment team are very good and the circus show was great! There's usually a singer and you can carry on drinking in the piano bar until quite late. Not much in the way of lively music or dancing going on, more of a relaxed atmosphere. There are plenty of activities you can do through the day, however they aren't well advertised. Overall we had a nice time here and would recommend (perhaps off peak). Staff work hard in and around the hotel, but would be nice to not have to queue so much! Little things would really improve this hotel in the future!

Booked a de luxe ocean view, fine. You would think there would be cushions in the seats in the balcony to sit and enjoy. Had to ask twice then still only two delivered. No kettle for tea and coffee! No hand towels on Wednesdays. Loo rolls on ration. Not enough staff in restaurant and tables left with three courses of dishes. This used to be one of the best hotels anywhere but is seriously going downhill. There are 4 star hotels on the island which offer better service for half the price. Drinks are seriously over priced so AI at 35 euros per day seems the way forward. Been before probably wouldn’t come back unless the service offered is 5 star as it used to be.

Lovely setting and gorgeous hotel, but my god the service sucks. Firstly, had to change rooms as the original one was damp and smelly. Sofa bed mattress was so thin and very uncomfortable for the children. They had to jump in with us during the night as they could not sleep. Have to say switching of rooms was pain free and the other one was so much better. Kids sofa bed had a proper mattress on it, so the question is why didn't the original sofa bed. Apart from that i spent half my holiday waiting in line for food or drinks. Nearly every bar had only one person serving. Line was always without fail 6-10 people ahead of you, especially the pool bars. Even when you had restaurant bookings you had to wait an age to be seated, your drinks sometimes arrived after your meal, food once arrived cold, was sent back to only comeback yet again cold....but on a hot plate. Yes i went in school holidays and i am sure it was the busiest time of the year but you cut your cloth accordingly and ensure you have adequate staff to attend to the number of guests. I do not expect to have to wait and wait and wait for things while trying to have a relaxing holiday with my family. Never complained about any holiday before but was just so disappointed with the overall experience. Hotel is not cheap therefore i expect better. Much much better.

We have just got back from a weeks stay at the gran meliá. The hotel and grounds are very impressive and well kept. The pools in places were a little tired (tiles missing) but didn’t detract from the overall beauty of the place. The infinity pool has stunning views and lovely shallow parts so great for younger ones, but is salt water so not so great for the children wanting to jump in. The family pool you are allowed inflatables in and this isn’t salt water. Both pools were very warm which made them more inviting. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and some evening meals. We all found things we liked and there was plenty of choice. For lunch we tried the 3 different restaurants, the oasis grill, oasis tapas and market grill. They were all really good and the portions huge!! The market grill was our favourite, it’s all freshly cooked for you and table service so nicer then the buffet. For an evening there is 3 a la carte restaurants you can book at: oasis grill, ocean club (italian) and the asian restaurant where you can select either asian or teppanyaki. We chose the latter which was amazing! The food was lovely but the the experience just added to it and was a great touch for an all inclusive resort. The other two evening restaurants were also very good. It was easy to tell if something was extra as it had supplement written next to it. This was only the odd thing such as a chef special, the majority was included. The drinks also included branded drinks, cocktails, smoothies, milkshakes and hot drinks You do have to sign for everything and it shows the price which is confusing at first but it’s just for their records so you soon get used to it. The entertainment i found a little disjointed. The children’s disco was never really a disco, some nights it was ok with a magic show/music etc, other nights a movie which nobody went to and was no good for the younger children and then other nights shut altogether. The shows we did see in the theatre were very good but started late to be aimed at the family. The music and show in the plaza was lovely and we enjoyed listening to the music on the terrace. The staff at the hotel were all wonderful, they couldn’t do enough for you and they were amazing with children. There’s not much outside the hotel but for a week that didn’t bother us. Overall i would definitely go back and the children really enjoyed it. Tip: if you are staying with children i would ask for some single beds bringing to your room. This was much more comfortable for them. I had seen this on a blog review and was so glad i had!

Just returned from a beautiful 10 days here with my young family. Such a stunning resort! We’ve been to a few SENSATORI resorts and this was the most stunning. However, for me it did lack in a few areas. The place itself is beautiful. We loved the pools. The kids club was excellent! The staff in there do such a brilliant job! We enjoyed the range of restaurants. The shows, particularly the Circus show were brilliant! Rooms good.. but, the set up for ‘family’ rooms is poor. Having 2 kids on a sofa bed is not good. The mattress hangs off the end and it’s just not acceptable I don’t think for the price paid. The variety on the buffet restaurant was also disappointing. Just the same thing every day. Provision for allergies is poor. You have to ask, and wait for a long time for dairy free alternatives. There were a couple of waiting staff that went out of their way to help with this but tracking the right ones down was tricky. Rooms were a bit damp and the system re all inclusive was a bit confusing! It didn’t feel as relaxing as others were you just didn’t have to think about what you can and can’t have. We loved it. It was a really special holiday but whereas previous visits to other Sensatori resorts have left me desperate to go back, I don’t think we’d return here. So pleased we went but I think I’d look elsewhere fir future holidays with my family!

We booked this hotel with friends and our children and chose it based on the fantastic infinity pool and what looked like lovely 5 star accommodation. We also went for the RED LEVEL FAMILY room, based on the extra 'perks' we felt were worth paying for. THE ROOMS A warning to anyone that wants to stay in this resort, problems occurred from the start. Firstly even though our booking was made together, we were accommodated on completely different floors and there was no availability to move either of us; the purpose of a holiday with friends or family is to be together! On the first day, balloons were placed in the rooms for any children that were guests. My 5 year old daughter took one balloon into the bedroom and it went up into the ceiling. On the ceiling above the bed are placed some strange flower panels; one of the flower panels fell from the ceiling and onto the bed, only JUST missing by 16 month old son that was lying on the bed! It took 2 days of room service and us to complain before anyone bothered to notice, clear it away or even to remove the rest of the ceiling panels. In our friends room on one night after dinner they walked in and the light fitting had broken off. It took several requests before anyone came to sort this out. On another night, they found a very big cockroach in the room, again several requests before anyone came to take it away! On our first night it took 3 calls for anyone to come and make up the sofa bed (we expected this to have been done whilst out at dinner). For the next 2 days, the sofa bed was left as it was; it was not put away and then made up again each night. Only after complaining to our Red Level manager Claudia did this happen. THE FOOD One of the children in our party has a severe nut allergy and the other nut and gluten free. The 'Red Level' family room provides a children's play room, where any child can go in and out. On one occasion there was no staff present in the room and a child's birthday party with free food on the tables. Our friend's 5 year old daughter took a peanut butter sandwich from the table and took one bite; she immediately started to have a reaction. Thanks to the quick thinking of her mother we were able to control it. However there did not appear to be any sufficient supervision in the children's room to monitor children that are in there and what they are eating without checking and consent from parents first. This is despite informing our 'Red Level' mananger Claudia about the alergies of the children. Further to this, our friends contacted the hotel ahead of the stay to advise about the alergies and the Gluten Free requirements. She was assured that this would be catered for. On first day arrival however when asking for Gluten Free food in one of the restaurants, she was advised that there was not any - we were later informed after complaining that this was not correct and there was Gluten Free available. The Red Level private breakfast area we have to admit was good; in particular our main waiter Mohamed who was very accomodating! The only issue with this breakfast is the number of flies that are swarming around the open fruit and bread section, these really need to be covered! If you are Red Level, DO NOT even bother trying out the buffet room for breakfast! it is far too busy, none of the waiters were aware of any allergy requirements and what we were asking for and the service was terrible to say the least! Stick to the Red Level breakfast area which is much quieter and you receive table service for the same breakfast! The Restaurants were all great, in particular the Japanese and Italian. However, in the Japanese when asking for a table at 8pm we were told we could not take a table for 8 people as it was booked for 10pm by someone else! (even though we would have been out of there before this time). Only when we complained to the main manager did they provide this table. Our waitress however was great! A major issue with the restaurants is the difficuty in getting bookings; you need to book well in advance. However even when in the restaurants, most of the seats are empty so we did not understand why we were told we could not get bookings for a particular time (aparently its because the kitchens are so small they can only accomodate a certain amount at a time!) As part of Red Level, you have access to the Family Lounge that serves snacks for children and adults in the afternoon; these snacks could be far more improved; these seems to be a LOT of bread available at this hotel and not much else. Certainly not much for children here, despite paying for Red Level Family. THE POOL Now onto the pool: The salt water infinity pool is FABULOUS. One of the best pools we have ever experienced. However, the poolside service is AWFUL. There are absolultely NO attendants around, especially as we were paying for Red Level service!. There are buzzers dotted around and half of these do not work so no attendant even comes. Pointless when paying for a day bed service. There were a few times we asked for canopies above the loungers and this was not actioned until we asked several times following which we complained to our Red Level manager Caludia. (things only seem to be actioned if you keep complaining). As far as i am concerned the poolside service is THE WORST we have ever experienced for a five star hotel! You cannot place towels on beds before 10am, even when placed a few minutes before, they are removed! It means hunting around for beds all over the place, and again, no attendants to even help. There also appeared to be a lack of lifeguards present around the infinity pool. One of the worst parts of our pool experience was when the whole infinity pool had to be closed for 2 hours because someone had "s**t" in the pool (as advised by the lifeguard!). Observing the "s**t" being removed in front of us was truly disgusting! Towards the end of our week of 'suffering' we decided to put in a complaint with our Red Level manager Claudia; however by the end of it we really felt she was slightly laughing at us due to the number of complaints. Her only resolution was to speak to the main manager. Overall we were really disappointed with our stay, so much so we put in a formal complaint with the main manager Sophia. Although she listened to our complaints, we did not feel there was any attempt at trying to make our final day any better for us. We were given the 'luxury' day bed by the infinity pool to make up for it, however we were advised by the towel attendant rudely we only have the bed not the service with it!!!! Again another complaint, and delivered to us was a cheap bottle of rose champagne; to top it all off, none of the littler was cleared up by any attendants; so much for service! This is a great resort with a fabulous pool, however the service is truly lacking for its 5 star status. We certainly would not stay here again. We went for dinner at the Ritz Carlton one night and the service by comparison was astonishing! The Gran Melia is only worth visiting for the pool; if you want great service, this is NOT the hotel to stay in!

We had an amazing time at this hotel. We travelled with our three children (age 9, 12 and 14)and there were lots of activities for them to do. We requested quiet rooms next door to each other, in advance of our stay, and this was accommodated. There are a variety of different restaurants to eat in but most need to be booked in advance, except for the buffet restaurant. The food is of a very good quality. Sun beds couldn’t be reserved until 10am in the morning, which meant we never had to rush to get a sun bed, like in many other hotels. The infinity pool was stunning and never that busy. The evening entertainment was also very good. We have stayed in a number of hotels in Tenerife before, and this is definitely the best. I really can’t understand why there are so many negative reviews - perhaps some people have unrealistic expectations because it is classed as a 5 star hotel.
