Inconvenient flight schedules forced us to find a hotel at the last second. The staff at this hotel was great. It turned out to be a nice location (short walk to the beach), economical, clean, and quiet. We might stay there on our next trip.
The hotel is on Hotel Road, which is the main drag of the tourist area, not quite in the busiest area but only a short bus ride away from everywhere. There are restaurants and cafes all round so getting a meal is no problem. My room was basic but had everything needed. Bathroom is OK. The hotel does not have many facilities. Next door is an ABC shop which sells liquor and food and gifts. On the other side is a coffee shop which serves as a breakfast location. There is no bar in the hotel or nearby, though in the multitude of restaurants around one can get beer with meals. I would recommend getting a shuttle bus ticket which travels from the Melanesian Plaza to the GPO (one end of the touristy area to the other). One can get off anywhere along the way and re-board. They come every few minutes. Tickets by the day or longer as required. The WIFI was good in the room.
I touched down at 1:30 am so I was very exhausted - just wanted to clean up and get to bed. The price for this place is reasonable, but it lacks a shuttle. It is very close to the beach - a major attraction for the many Japanese and Korean tourists who come to Guam in droves. My room was small and spartan and WiFi did not work (management apologized). The bed and bathroom were clean and reasonable, but limited. Bottom line: it's not a luxurious hotel, but it is okay. I came to Guam on business and stayed with my sponsors thereafter so I cannot describe how staying at this place over the course of a week would have worked out. But it likely would have been manageable, but not special.
I was homeless on and off for 10 years growing up in America, so I really don`t care to much if where I stay is the Ritz. I have lived in Guam and visit there often. I have stayed in a total of 3 different hotels, but Grand Plaza is where I end up going to every time. The beds aren`t in the best of shape, the building is old, but all very clean and the staff does, what ever is needed to make your stay a good one. We normally stay for 2 weeks so they really work around us. Good location, right by the beach and right next to all the shopping and restaurants, and just a short walk from K-mart.
great price, great location close by to attractions and restaurants. the hotel was nice and clean. personnel were great and very helpful, parking was easy and secured with a guard 24/7. this hotel will be my 1st choice again on my next trip
Accessible to the beach, two blocks street walk. Also walking distance to the Tumon shopping areas. Hotel staff can arrange transport requirement including car rental company that fetches its client from/to hotel. Limited choices for hotel restaurant, you need to go nearby cafes and restaurants.
Disadvantage: If you are looking for a place which provides efficient Wi-Fi, then this is a wrong place for you to stay. I stayed for four nights in April 2017 and the wifi was so slow that sending a text via WhatsApp was problematic!! Location: The beach is only 100 metres away. Also, the hotel is surrounded by lots of cafes and restaurants. Room: No problem, clean and comfortable. Partial ocean view, we can even see a nice sunset. Not sure why the air-con is placed near the floor, which makes your legs really cold while sleeping.
Pleasant stay at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Guam. My room rate was $95 from Booking.com, which was an awesome deal! The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Had an issue with my tub and it was taken care of very promptly. In terms of quiet, I can't agree. You can hear everything that's happening in the halls. Had a family with a colicky baby a few doors down and heard it crying all day and all 2 nights that I was there. Not entirely relaxing, but I've had worse. My room said "partial ocean view". This is a VERY generous description. I think I saw the ocean but not entirely sure, it was that scant. Overall, I'd stay here again if the price was right. Very central to some excellent food and nightlife. Pleased with my choice of hotels, especially not knowing the area. If it interests you, some very high end shops were within walking distance and I never felt unsafe walking around at night as a female.
Location is excellent. Beach is right across the street, many food options near by and ABC store downstairs. The property is bit old, but is well maintained. I found the staff to be hospitable. Although the hotel is mostly geared towards attracting Japanese tourists, and is owned by Japanese, every body should find it a great place to stay at reasonable price. There is ample parking at back with good WiFi. They have coin laundry as well as microwave at 7th floor. Overall I would totally recommend this place for budget travelers.
Cost performance is high when considering location with the Grand Plaza! This hotel is not amazing but provides a very ordinary room for a reasonable price and a sneaky-good location. For me and my wife, location is key. Grand Plaza is 7 minutes straight to beautiful Tumon Bay(lovely soft-sand beach), downstairs is an ABC Store(convenience store) open til midnight, and seconds walk to a selection of restaurants. This is a positive review!
