Minus for : - no elevator from the ground floor. ( It goes from the first floor.) - Carpet (heltäckningsmatta ) - Noises from the pub and tramcar (I couldn't sleep before around 3 a.m.) - Over boiled eggs - old furniture - uncomfortable bed Plus for : - biscuits, coffee machine and waffles. (all day ) - Salmon on the breakfast. - bread This hotel is more like a Bed & Breakfast. Absolutely not an 3 stairs hotel.
vintage, minimalist and modern at the same time...great location and service...the girls are the reception are so helpful and kind.. Breakfast is nice and healthy...good for the price. totally quiet an clean
The location was walking distance to most areas. The staff were really friendly. The breakfast was tasty. The room was a little dated run down but adequate... the double bed consisted of two singles not attached to each other which was 'interesting' though!
The selling point of Hotel Vasa for me was the great location in proportion to the price. I feel I made a good decision in regards of this as everything is close by and it's much cheaper then anything else I found in the city centre. The staff are very friendly, fairly informative about the city. One of the best points about the hotel is that they have snacks, juice, tea and coffee available 24/7 in the breakfast area (picture attatched) , where you can also make your own waffles in the evening. This is really a great thing as I have never seen this in a hotel before, apart from executive lounges. The rooms are adequate, the bed is comfortable, the bathrooms are a little on the small side, however this did not cause any inconvenience for me. The room also has a nice sized flat screen Samsung TV, which is a nice touch. The WiFi is good and reliable on all of the floors. Breakfast is also tasty, with a nice range of options. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was when we returned to our rooms each day, around 2/3 o clock in the afternoon, the housekeeping had still not been and when they came, we passed the opportunity because we wanted to relax in the room. Overall though a good stay and I would recommend it to people visiting the city.
I stayed at Hotel Vasa on a business trip for two nights. The hotel did in my view not live up to three stars. The room was so small that I had difficulties to open the entrance door after having opened my suitcase on the floor. The interior was quite old and felt shabby. The worst was that I found quite a few hairs from previous guests in the bathroom. Overall, I felt quite uncomfortable at the hotel. However, the staff was really lovely.
3 nights in Gothenburg at this hotel that was chosen by my hosts. A small friendly hotel - no tea and coffee in rooms but available with cakes and snacks 24/7 in the hotel breakfast room. Plus make your own waffles available in the afternoon and evenings - a very nice addition.
We stayed in this family owned hotel, which is perfectly located between Avenyn and Haga, well deserved with two trams just around the corner. As some reviews have pointed out before, some rooms are for sure in need of a bit of refurbishment, this was the case with the family room we stayed in which seemed a bit over priced for what it was. However, the general feel and nice breakfast and lounge area compensates for the not yet re-furbished rooms, and the possibility to have a coffee, cinnamon bun or waffles when you come home after a busy day is absolutely lovely! I can recommend this hotel if you are travelling with children, if you need a playground there is one just close to the Haga Church (I think it was), about 200 m away from the hotel.
The Hotel Vasa is located in a good central location and you can easily walk to shopping, museums, parks and restaurants. The rooms have had some renovations although they still seem a little tired. We had a room on the 3rd floor and took the stairs but there is a small elevator. Our room faced an inner courtyard and with the window open it was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall we had a pleasant stay but nothing really stands out.
A smaller hotel in the central part of Gothenburg. It is ok but something that really disturbed me was the breakfast servings. No omelette, no bacon, people sat like hungry wolves waiting for that and during the time all bread was eaten up... No no no, the breakfast is not ok.
I booked this hotel because it was close to where I worked and was a very reasonable price for the time of year and its central location. Then I read tripadvisor and saw a real mixed bag of reviews. So I went with my expectations managed and expected the worst to a certain extent - small basic unclean and uncomfy!!! I was very pleasantly surprised. What you need to understand is that the are working their way round a refurbishment. So i believe that the negative comments were probably from people in the old style rooms and positive from the refurbed rooms. I was I a single occupancy refurbed room(16) and cannot find one complaint. Just ensure you ask at the time of booking until such time that all rooms have been done. It had everything I needed. Clean, modern bathroom ( shower only but lovely) comfy wide bed, wardrobe with long mirror, hairdryer, free wifi, TV, and looked out onto an inner courtyard. (Which you can sit out in) Good lighting and plug sockets, room refreshed daily. The hotel is a small family run hotel in a 19c building with friendly staff. It's comfortable and homely and much nicer than the big bland impersonal hotels. The dining area has 24/7 access to water, juice, tea and coffee, cakes, biscuits and fruit. I'm sure if you need to store anything in a fridge they would accommodate you. 4-9 daily they put out a waffle iron and you can help yourself to free waffles cream and jam. I'm not sure why comments say the breakfast was basic, how much exactly do you want to eat?! There's egg and bacon, an assortment of breads, hams, cheeses, fish, salad veg, fruit, cereals, biscuits and cakes. Eat as much as you want buffet. I also enjoyed a sauna during my 3 night stay. There's an additional seating/reading area upstairs from the dining area and finally the location is superb. Near tram stops taking you to saltholmen today get the boats to the islands, 5min walk to Haga old town, 10 min walk to the avenue shops and restaurants, walk broke or tram to liseberg, everything is within easy reach. As long as they maintain good standards and finish the room refurb, this is a great hotel and reasonable value all things considered.
