Hotel Vasa3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed one night. The room was ok, the beds very good, and the staff was nice and helpfull. The bathroom, however, was a bit cold and with no possibility to regulate (no own heating in the bathroom). Breakfast was decent, with a variety of choices. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel is close to the inner town. and the tram is passing right outside. The hotel has a garage about 150 meters away where you can park for about 150 SEK a day.
Due to a late booking, Vasa hotel was the only sensibly priced hotel that matched our location requirements. We shrugged off the negativity in the reviews and were willing to endure some discomfort for considerable savings. Having stayed at Vasa we have changed our minds; we’d rather choose a less centrally located hotel than Vasa. The price premium sadly doesn’t outway its flaws. We are not returning to Vasa, ever. Room 103 is sized like a big parking space, facing the street on the first floor were its surrounded by night clubs. The heating was cranked up to max and we were forced to air out the room with windows, as there is no ventilation what so ever. This was a nightmare on a Friday night. The noise from neighboring rooms with its leaf thin walls was also annoying. Good thing we read the comments and brought ear plugs which made it possible to sleep. The room smells of mould and bath of urine. Didn’t try breakfast. The staff was friendly, parking was cheap and nice location.
I booked this hotel because of the location, not expecting much. I was presently surprised how central it is. A cosy place with lovely staff. My room was more of a bedroom with en suit than a hotel room. It was very homey... Not sure what people expect as breakfast but I was pretty satisfied with my coffee and kanelbulle ...the girls at the reception are extremely helpful and friendly. I was a bit late to take my room so had to call to reassure the hotel I am coming. I got greeted on the phone with warm reassurance that it is ok and no rush... Tilde who mainly looked after me is a gem! Will definitely return !!
The rooms are on the small side clean. The breakfast is also very decent with eggs, salad, fruits and cheese. The best part of the hotel is that it is very close to tram and Gothenburg university. The hotel entrance and corridor rug can certainly renovation but overall a nice place to stay. They also offer laundry services. Reasonably priced. Extremely friendly, helpful and smiling staff
The university had booked this room for me. I was shocked when I saw it - shabby, bordering on grubby (cracked sink, cracked tiles on the floor of the shower, cheap toilet paper, grey, thin towels - basically nothing that conveyed any care for the guest). When I arrived, I would have liked to have had a shower but there was no hot water from the sink tap and I didn't want to take the chance of having a shower. Although disappointed I thought that it would do for two nights. But on the first night before I was due to give an early morning lecture, I was woken by loud singing from the pub at 1am that carried on for more than an hour. Needless to say, I didn't feel great the next day. The staff although friendly, can't seem to be bothered to do anything to make things better. I was told by the receptionist that if it happens again to come down and tell them (clearly getting dressed in the middle of the night and going down to reception will further disrupt your sleep). Having read other reviews, I can now see that the noise is a regular complaint, so the staff are aware of it but the receptionist acted as if she was surprised when I told her. So again, a don't care attitude. I have heard that you should book a refurbished room, so maybe this will lead to a better experience, but it might not make a difference to the noise. So I leave for home, more tired and more disappointed. I often visit Sweden and this is the first time I have had an experience like this. I have told the university in the hope that future visitors will be spared this experience.
It's downtown, it's clean and not too expensive. Had a good night's sleep and my own bedroom. Reception staff was welcoming and helpful but breakfast was nothing to write home about. Looked very 80s but well enough kept. Quiet.
This is a price worthy hotel with friendly staff and a cozy interior that makes you feel at home. The staff is very helpful and they go out of their way to help you. A big thumbs up for that. Everything is well kept and tidy and the rooms are cozy and spacious. The breakfast was good, and you can have pancakes in the lobby at any time, if you're hungry. The location is great - close to the center and within walking distance to most places where a regular visitor would want to go. I recommend staying here.
Minus for : - no elevator from the ground floor. ( It goes from the first floor.) - Carpet (heltäckningsmatta ) - Noises from the pub and tramcar (I couldn't sleep before around 3 a.m.) - Over boiled eggs - old furniture - uncomfortable bed Plus for : - biscuits, coffee machine and waffles. (all day ) - Salmon on the breakfast. - bread This hotel is more like a Bed & Breakfast. Absolutely not an 3 stairs hotel.
vintage, minimalist and modern at the same time...great location and service...the girls are the reception are so helpful and kind.. Breakfast is nice and healthy...good for the price. totally quiet an clean
The location was walking distance to most areas. The staff were really friendly. The breakfast was tasty. The room was a little dated run down but adequate... the double bed consisted of two singles not attached to each other which was 'interesting' though!
