Conveniently located 4* hotel with great breakfast

In general, Hotel Avalon left us happy and satisfied. Its location is very good, near enough to the train station, and right beside the Salulalleh Market. The hotel has a very nice upper end of 4* feeling to it. The room was a little on the small side, but sufficient for 2 adults. The bathroom was generously sized, and i must call out the generous supply of a Bvlgari hand soap, and a small bottle of Bvlgari hair conditioner. The soap was a really nice touch as it constantly lightly performed the bathroom with the lovely fragrance. The only beef we had with the bathroom was that the water runs out of the shower stall into the rest of the bathroom and wet the whole floor. Our other complaint was the noise that drifted up from the street below every night. Light sleepers will very likely be bothered by that. On the up side, the hotel breakfast is really excellent, with a generous spread of items including 7-8 different juices, 10 or more different types of breads/pastries, hot food, cold cuts and cheeses!

Stylish hotel. Central to everything. Good breakfast. A little noisy on an evening from the bars outside but not too bad and they close at 1.00. The open plan bath and sinks wouldn’t be ideal for everyone sharing and glass doors on hotel bathrooms should be outlawed.

This is a great property, wonderful breakfast, helpful staff. The location super convenient to great shopping and restaurants. Also, there was a tram/bus stop just out front, so very easy to get anywhere in town from this central spot.

Not very clean, split bed. Great location.

The room was not clean- the bed was clean but the cabinet/ledge under the tv had food crumbs on it, the bathroom counter had toiletry bottle rings on it, and the floor was dirty with shoe prints. The bed was 2 small beds pushed together, separate blankets too, so not good for couples or for solo because you can't sleep in the middle so you basically just get a twin bed. Thin pillows. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was great. Location is excellent for walking around in the pedestrian area.

Fantastic stay - and would stay again without hesitation. The staff were the highlight - going over and above for every part of the stay. The breakfast was also outstanding - a fantastic selection, healthy, fresh and delicious. It's worth mentioning the bar was great and dinner was equally fantastic and one of the best meals we ate in Gothenburg. The hôtel itself is excellently located in the city for restaurants and shops, easy to travel from by bus or tram, and 30 seconds walk from the airport bus transfer. The room was a decent size, clean, quiet and ideal for a city break. The only downside was the duvet was too toasty and pillows too soft. A sauna would have complemented the swimming pool nicely. This aside, we would return again.

Rock Star Experience

My second time staying here. The hotel is beautiful, everyone is so sweet, and the location is fantastic. I came for Kulturefest last year and the concert could not have been closer but it's a great spot to be in for any Göteborg trip because it's fairly central, great tram line access, tons of cafes, but it's not in a high traffic (road wise) area.

Wonderful hotel, great location in Gothenburg

Very nice hotel located in the Inom Vallgraven district of Gothenburg. The design and artwork in the hotel made it a unique experience that we appreciated. We opted for one of the rooms with a patio hot tub and were not disappointed. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We were under the weather and our first night the restaurant manager even helped bring my wife bring up our dinner so we could order whatever we wanted (not just from the room service menu) The location was fantastic, we could walk easily to shops, restaurants, activities, transportation, within 10-15 minutes. Its central location was perfect for our trip. The negatives were minimal. Not a lot of temperature control, (true everywhere we stayed, not a deal breaker) we slept with the door open most nights to cool the room or get moving air, a fan would be nice in warmer weather. It is an eco friendly hotel, but they were still using small shampoo and conditioner bottles. We would love to encourage them to completely move away from these. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay and would definitely recommend to others.
