Nice basic hotel. Everything worked fine. There is a rush at breakfast and hard to find a table, but that seems to be a common problem in all hotels. It was nice detail that the rooms had names (and numbers too). Easier too remember that you stay at The Ferrari room than room with number 500-something.
High standard on rooms, we had a four bed room. Comfortable beds. Nice standard bathrooms Very good Glutenfree and Lactosfree breakfast alternatives. Very good location in the centre of town. The price and the choices (beer) in the hotelbar could be better.
Very good location at the center of the city with all the restaurants, bars and nightclubs nearby. Busses and theater very close also. Great rooms and great food. Conference rooms and facilities among the best.
Huge hotel in good location but too noisy ! You can't sleep until 2 am as the music is very strong at the rooftop bar. Not at all up to a 4 star rating. Bedding medium but good breakfast. Too many people in this hotel. You have to stand in line with the elevators. In summary, hotel too expensive for few positive things. There is better elsewhere.
Nice hotel. Lobby is clean and welcoming. The room again is clean, however a little rough around the edges in areas but nothing too devastating... gym is adequate as there was no one in it when I went. Breakfast is extensive with plenty of choice, much better than many European hotels would offer. The roof top bar was nice, standard prices for Sweden from what we discovered which is expensive if you are British. The member of staff up there wasn't very useful and was a little rude and abrupt with helping with the menu and seemed to be standing behind the bar doing nothing when every table had empty glasses on. These are just little things I would pickup having worked in the bar and catering industry for years.
Scandic is a chain of hotels popular with businesses and at weekends families. Our room was a cabin type without a window. It was in need of refurbishment but well equipped. The breakfast was large with everything you could wish for herrings, yogurts, fruits, gluten free bread a cooked breakfast and even pancakes. There is a sky bar with extensive views over the city. In the lobby you can help yourself to a coffee. A nice touch. The hotels location half way up the main shopping street called Avenyn is the main attraction.
The location of the hotel was ideal for my trip. There are also a number of bars, restaurants, etc. near by so if you don't want to eat in the hotel then you can have some choice. I only had breakfast and occasional beer in the hotel. The hotel is quite stylish, neat layout, clean and functional too. The reception / check-in / check-out was all very friendly and professional. There is a computer and printer which you can use for free to print boarding passes etc. The receptionist also printed some documents for me on the office printer. We used the meeting rooms. They were equipped with everything we needed for a successful meeting. The room was quite functional, it reminded me of a show area in Ikea so I guess that is "Swedish style" for you! Each room on my floor had a separate theme and description which is a nice touch. Breakfast was a large spread with plenty of choice. Service in the bar was good. I slept well. They don't offer a wake-up call service so the receptionist said he would set an alarm on his phone and call me himself! Great service.
The hotel is nice, the breakfast is large but the receptionist should think twice before assigning rooms... we have been woken up by dogs barking in the middle of the nights. They were just in the room next to ours, with a tag on the door and nobody inside. I called several times the reception but nothing has been made to let them stop or call the owner (that was apparently sleeping well far from them). At the breakfast room we then realized there was kind of dogs competition and other guests had been woken up. Please next time you have some even like this one don't put guests without dogs next to dogs but reserve a part of the hotel or one or more floors to dogs and other floors to guests who want to enjoy their stay without being disturbed in the middle of the night.
This hotel, just outside the city center, yet close to all areas that matter in Gothenburg, is a perfect basecamp location. Also for those visiting the Expo Center, it's a mere 10 minute walk. Ample public transport around. Great bar, excellent breakfast service.
Top location, in the centre, close to shops and restaurants. Possibility to park close by, but expensive parking garage. Good breakfast, fresh food. Value for money. Nice bar, nice breakfast room, friendly staff
