Location is fantastic for families - walking distance to the Gold coast centre (Caval Ave) yet tucked away from its hustle and bustle. The pool and spa are great- kids loved the choice of three swimming areas. Although in need of refurbishment, apartments are spacious and equipped with basic essential items. Linen was crisp and clean. We had a balcony looking out to the pool area, which was quite nice and relaxing. Loved waking up to the birds' songs. We also had a complimentary breakfast at the resort's restaurant/coffee place. We enjoyed our breakfast, surrounded by the lush green trees and plants, looking out to the river. One could never tire of that setting. We met with the lovely new manager Heather, who has recently taken on the management lease, with her husband. Heather was keen to hear our thoughts on how they could improve the service to include the greater variety of food and beverages. Thier vision is to offer wood fire pizza dinners and all, which would be nice. I believe the location is the key paradise factor to this place, with the 4-storey building being almost an antithesis to the wuthering giants of the Gold Coast apartments scene... and with the new management now in place, Paradise Island Resort could reach the height of its full potential. We look forward to the changes.

The location is fantastic. The hotel room is a bit overated pay the extra for the apartment to get everything you need. Thought the coffee shop would be open all day but only for breakfast. Included breakfast was good except they use disposable plates all in the garbage not recycled. The floor of the room was stained. There was no telephone in the room and the remote to the DVD player did not work and could not be replaced. We arrived early as my daughter had just been released from having an operation in hospital but they wouldn't even try for an early check in for us. The staff were nice but were not even aware of upcoming events at Surfers in the Hols. Don't think i'd stay here again. Pool and spa were nice.

booked through for $175 for one night for my and my wife's 1yr anniversary . what a big mistake that was, arrived at 12pm to see if we could check in little early the very rude none english speaking front desk clerk said no 2pm no earlier i will ring u when its ready. left to go to the shopping centre got back at 230pm. sign here and here and $200 deposit thanks i nearly had a heart attack $200 what the hell is that for. its our policy his reply was. i responded to no i will not be paying $200 as it was not addressed or explained in the booking considering this is the only hotel i know of in australia that still require a deposit to stay at the accommodation. he then sad well ill have some id and bank card. didn't even say please or asked why just demanded it. i got the room key to the room the 4th floor, before u even get to your hotel room door u have to go through double doors as the rooms are connected the door was to small to even get my sons pram through that door which was a joke. the rooms sink in the bathroom was dirty, there was a shampoo and 2 soaps thats all oh and the only towels to use the whole time of your stay or there was a $5 charge per towel extra. we look at our bed which was suppose to be a queen well 2 single beds each being completely different in quality to each other one being broken i go to lay on it and get jabbed by a zipper finding there both zipped together. anyway after a spring sticking in my back all night me and the family go down to the cafe. Mcdonalds would of been better then this atrocious place the food consists of rock hard rissoles, tinned spaghetti, store brought mini pancakes, and cold boiled eggs in a bowl, the there are hard cold think pork sausages then thin pork sausages then hard cold potato gems. then you have on the other side 6 types of bread the most variety in the whole place then you have cornflakes coco pops and then you have a tray of 1 type of fruit then you have the most horrid orange juice my 1 year old son didn't even want to drink it they had yoghurt but even that was just natural nothing else. the best thing out of the whole breakfast was the store brought iced coffee that i just got before they ran out of it. Ive been to many different hotels motels and even caravan parks and this was the WORSE ONE EVER

Room was filthy on arrival. Bath tub had a big wad of hardened glue or something stuck to the bottom with a few stains just to add to the character. Wore thongs to be safe. Bed or carpet had fleas saw a couple and had a few bites when I woke up. Wouldn't pay $2 for the breakfast let alone $10. Very sad to see a decent size resort in such a great location so rundown and badly run. On a positive note the staff were all nice. I for one won't be going back.

False advertisement, the building is grey not yellow and orange. The room was filthy dirty. The carpets had big dirty stains all over it. Curtains had food Stains all over them, patches all over the walls as there were holes in them, dirty table with chips out of it with food still on it, food stains on the chairs, fans bent and dirty, rust on them, bathroom dirty with rust marks on it and the toilet all cracked. tiles cracked, walls with paint off them and all marked. A big build up of dirt of the tracks of doors. Patio had poo all over it, old drying rack with rust, had to sweep the patio as it had dirt and glass on it. it the cupboard old ironing board, mop, vaccum cleaner so you couldn't hand your clothes, men's undies left in the dryer, draws inside where filthy not wiped out, the light covers had big cracks on them. The list goes on. Breakfast they had paper plates which was good as I knew they were clean. The breakfast area was filthy, tables not wiped and the patio cover had big bit of dirty on the ceiling outside.

Just came back from a 8 night stay and frankly the reviews below make the resort sound like a hellish nightmare. This is not true at all. If you're looking for a cheap apartment to stay with a full kitchen and with daily basic breakfast buffet and an excellent location, then this "hotel" is great. I would go back and stay again. They are gradually renovating and improving the place and the work takes place during the day when it is expected that visitors would have left for the day to do stuff on the gold coast. The people complaining about toilet paper and the room not being cleaned daily etc have not understood this property. This is not a hotel. You want hotel level daily servicing, then go somewhere else and pay an extra $100 a day or more. I was happy to self service and put the money elsewhere into my holiday. The hotel staff are friendly in general, but we very rigid in their rules. The breakfast hours are 7am-9:30am and we had a 6am flight when leaving, so when we got to the property to check in on the 1st day I requested whether we could have the checkout day's breakfast on the check in day. They refused and after much argument back and forth, they still refused. We ended up walking 10 min down the road to the local surf life savings club on the beach where they had a $12 buffet. Very bad from a customer service standpoint. It would have cost them very little to make an adjustment understanding our situation. The cleaner also did not turn up to clean the apartment on the day we specified in advance. After querying this with the lobby staff, they got the cleaner to come do it on the next day. This is a serviced apartment block.The apartments are individually owned by different investors and the arrangement is like they are jointly renting out all the apartments, but the stuff inside every apartment is owned by the investor. That's why if a TV doesn't work, they can't just provide a spare from another room. When you check into your room there are basic amenities, milk/tea/coffee 1 toilet roll, shampoo and soap, towels and linen. But the expectation is like if you were to rent an apartment, you have to provide your own stuff. The stuff in the room is just to get you started for the first day until you go shopping and get your own consumables. The room is not cleaned daily, it is cleaned and resupplied with amenities weekly, if you are staying more than a week. The location is excellent, with the surfers paradise main area with woolies within a 10min walk. The hotel is surrounded on 3 sides with a pond and trees everywhere keeping the place cool. There is a Gym, but it is very basic. The pool area is nice, but didn't use it myself. There are excellent outdoor seating/picnic/bbq areas which I doubt get much use, which is why they are so clean. The breakfast buffet was very basic with no variety day to day. Potato gems, pork and beef sausages, pancakes, spaghetti and meat balls and hard boiled eggs were the hot food. There was various cereals, breads, condiments, yogurts, watermelon, lamingtons and lemon cake. To drink there was tea/coffee/iced coffee/orange juice/chocolate milk. The breakfast costs $10/day if you don't have it as part of your booking. During checking, they give you wifi login vouchers which give you 200mb. you get 1 voucher for each day. But i could not get my computer to connect to the wifi. Wasn't a big deal for me, as I was happy to disconnect to enjoy the holiday, but it is true the wifi is a joke. 200mb won't get you very far. They should just make it free for everyone to use.

I had to change rooms because of the noise above me. The next morning at 7:30 am (Friday) I was woken by some one using a grinder (Power tool) In direct violation of council regulations. I go to the reception were I was told that I couldn't see a manager until Monday. I had no sleep all weekend due to this me and my girlfriend had the worst weekend away I have ever had and we holiday a lot. I gave you 2 points because of the lovely lady on reception. (Natalee)

This was without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever experienced and I would strongly discourage anyone considering staying here. I only have it one star because I couldn't give it no stars. • The mattress was terrible - all springs and hard as a rock. We asked if we could be moved to another room and were told no. • We were given 2 towels for a 4 night stay and told any clean or "extra towels" would be $3 each. • No option for daily cleaning of any kind. • The room was dirty and in desperate need of a new paint job and general upkeep. • The "complementary" continental breakfast was literally some soggy fruit and stale toast. • They charged a $200 deposit for one room key (no card, just an old fashioned key) and then refused to provide a second key without ANOTHER $200 bond (there were two of us staying there). • There was a long black hair in the bed (neither of us have long or dark hair). • The wifi logins (for only 200MB data anyway) didn't work on any devices... • We complained and checked out two days early and were refused any refund or compensation of any kind. We were very disappointed this place had such a high rating on trip advisor. Definitely won't be staying here ever again and will warn all our friend not to either. Avoid it like the plague.

Room looks nothing like the pictures, appeared to have not been cleaned properly whatsoever - the TV didn't work and staff could not offer a replacement or another room - marks on the walls, half finished painting and toilet constantly leaked. Did not enjoy our stay and would not return or recommend to anyone who enjoys clean, comfort.

Booked a night here through Agoda apparently although it never came up as Agoda just that it would be confirmed within an hour. Full payment was taken for one night. Nothing was confirmed. I emailed them (Paradise Island Resort) next morning explaining I was at a conference and did not get a confirmation and could they reply by 1pm urgently to confirm. Seven hours later at 5pm a smart faced Jason replied saying booking confirmed. Saying it was high season (lol in Sept) and sorry for delay but he wasn't sorry his comments and emojis made that obvious. I replied saying because I had not received a reply for seven hours I made other arrangements and could they refund? This was his test piece. Jason replied with emoji faces and told me to go to Agoda direct no refund from them. I had already explained I had no communication from Agoda no reference number etc. I got more sarcastic replies from Mr Jason with Emoji faces. We did a drive by of Paradise Island Resort and it looks like the sort of place to avoid in Surfers so he did me a favour. I will take up with Agoda but the Management and or staff at Paradise Island Resort especially Mr Jason Emoji have attended the Basil Fawlty school of customer service. Would not even consider booking there again. Either should you way too many better places in better locations with way better staff and customer service. Read all my reviews plenty of Jason type of staff on the GC but there are also some gems too😬.
