We just stayed at the Paradise Island Resort last night 4th Jan, and the facilities were well presented but our accommodation was a disaster. Walls with chips, dirt marks all over. Carpet was ripped, pulled up in areas, and covered in stains. The lounge and TV unit clearly hadn't been cleaned. The cupboards for the kitchenette were all water swollen, dirty and broken. The complimentary safe didn't work. The lock on the door had been ripped off. The ceiling were all dirty and the fan hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The bathroom had no ventilation, so it turns into a steam room. The shower/spa was dirty and had mould in the grout. Breakfast....we just had to laugh. The hot foods consisted of unshelled hard-boiled eggs, potato gems, cold spaghetti, and sausages. They gave us plastic plates, knives and forks, and were instructed to wipe off any food and return them to the front counter. I really wish we had taken some photos as it's hard to believe a room in Surfers Paradise could be this awful. The location is great, just a short stroll to the beach, and if they were to spend a little bit of money, the accommodation would be 100x better. It just feels like they've gone too far to save costs.
I'd read the reviews and was hesitant to book, but during the busy xmas/new year period and booking last minute our choices were limited. The tariff was a bit much but it's peak season! The room was nicely furnished and big enough for the 3 of us. The pool area looked lovely, the location is spot on- walk anywhere in Surfers. Yes the breakfast is different (odd food combinations) but it was all fresh looking and I witnessed Coles and Woolworths delivering food; overall if you need a coffee, toast and some fresh fruit you'll be happy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. One downfall-I would add their housekeeping wasn't 100%- my husband wasn't impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom.
Booked for a 2 night stay. Mum and dad also booked. They refused to stay in their apartment as it was filthy. Ours to was awful. I was told it had recently been renovated as it had a bathroom but there is no way it had. Upon complaining we paid extra for an upgrade. Was still pretty bad. If you do want to stay here book on air bnb rather than direct. That way you know what apartment you are getting.
The rooms are very tired and carpets filthy. Equipment in cupboards not much better. Had to change rooms due to condition of the filthy carpet. Breakfast served with plastic knifes and forks and polystyrene cups. Some of the staff very rude especially when asking for a room change. Booked for 4 but only one bed, again staff member was rude when asking for pull out beds. Washing machine was not working, filthy broken one and only serving bowl in cupboard Only redeeming feature was the swimming pool in which the kids enjoyed. Wouldn’t stay again
easy to find and off street, locked parking initial issue with fridge in the room but this was soon resolved and wonderfully dealth with by Allan - second room was AMAZING!!! fabulous river view, so spacious and clean, great cooking facilities, and well stocked equipments. the pool area is beautiful with a waterfall area, seating and great river view 10min walk from centre of town and beach!! the only downside was the plastic cutlery and plates at the bfast - which was a little weird in serving spag bol or meatballs !! but also toast, cereal, eggs, sausage etc!! lovely fruit plate
Rooms needed modernising. Bathroom has a shower curtain but in some rooms no curtain. Single seater sofa, very uncomfortable for two people. No aircon in bedroom, hot and stuffy, a nightmare to sleep in hot room.
Lovely hotel, easy check in with great facilities. The room was very spacious, clean and we were given complimentary toiletries. The pool was beautiful and had a lot of room around including a bbq. The complimentary breakfast was the same everyday and didn’t have much variety of what was on offer but it was a nice touch to have the option. The gym is very small but we were able to make use of it. The hotel offers free WiFi giving 1gb per room per day however we couldn’t connect at all during our stay unless we were down by reception due to the connection being very weak which was a shame. But overall a lovely hotel. The only reason why we aren’t giving 5 stars is the staffing issues. Firstly there’s not enough and secondly were very unhelpful and quiet rude. We probably saw 2/3 staff members the whole time we were here and whenever we actually needed to ask anything it always seemed such a chore as their attention was stretched very thin. For instance when we arrived we only had one chair on our balcony (there were two of us) so we went to ask reception for another one. We waited 25 minutes before anyone came to see us, meanwhile several other guests had joined our queue- we knocked on the staff door etc but no one was around. We asked for the chair and he said he would sort something out, and by the evening we still hadn’t heard anything so went back to reception and the staff member just said that he didn’t find one.. very unhelpful and was such a shame as we had a beautiful view of the city from our balcony!
The room was dirty all over, the carpets were stained and worn with pieces of carpet sticking up. The supplied cooking equipment and water jugs were filthy, the pan covered in black crap and handle falling off. The supplied cot for my child was disgracefully dirty and the supplied foam mattress was so soft that the metal bars of the cot stick in the your back. I ordered a room with a queen bed was just two single mattresses put together and not the same height. The breakfast was not even worth attending, stale bread and crumpets muffins etc and Very small selection for breakfast and was of very poor quality. The furniture in the room had glass tops and were all missing the rubbers to stop the tops sliding off, some furniture broken and screwed together dodgy with bits of wood in clear view. The rooms had fans provided which are unbalanced and falling off the roof. The games room had ownly 3 machines working out of the 8 in the room. The free wi-fi advertised is missing all rules and regulations such as for a 3 day stay we got 750mb. Will never stay here ever again, worst hotel/resort I have stayed in many countries and places I have visited.
Location was great. Close to the action and ocean but just far enough away to not be bothered by it. All within a short walk. Lovely spa and pool. Ample breakfast with many choices. Rooms tired but satisfactory. Good value for money.
Apart from the furniture falling apart and the room looking tired and run down/outdated the room does have all the creature comforts. As for the breakfast I was taken back to see what was available. First the food was cold and this is when it opened with an assortment of what looked like leftovers which included sausage, baked beans, terrible cut up rissole, boiled eggs and potato gems. We were laughed at when we asked if bacon was on the menu and to top it off plastic plates and knifes and forks. Personal opinion ask for a discount and go elsewhere for breakfast.
