Fleming's Hotel Frankfurt-Messe4.0 out of 5.0

While other conference attendees headed home I picked up my wife at the airport and we spent the weekend in and around Frankfurt. I wanted some place in town because I like to experience what the locals do. In this case, they live in a large dirty city and the experience was somewhat akin to 1980’s NYC (which I am familiar with). The big problem was parking. The hotel claims to have its own parking but when I asked about it they said they were "pretty full.” This suggests they rent their prime parking spots to paying customers and hotel guests are left to fend for themselves. Perhaps I should have pushed a little more. We found parking underneath the Bahnhof, about two blocks away. Relatively easy to get to, but Euro 29/day. You have been warned. The room on the third floor was nice. Bed was closer to a full than a queen, only two pillows despite asking for two more. The typical German bed had a single down-filled blanket for each person. Unlike other hotels in the more rural towns this one had A/C…..not really powerful, but A/C nonetheless. The bathroom consisted of an “aquarium” shower….all glass and nothing left to the imagination. If you look like a young Brad Pitt it’s one thing….if you look like Jackie Gleason it’s another. A single sink had reasonable counter space. The toilet was a cramped little space that barely gave you room to sit down…and it was almost impossible to pull your pants up without hitting your head. The breakfast, on the other hand, was pretty good. They offered eggs and (salty) bacon, prepared several ways, in addition to various meats, cheeses, fruit, smoked salmon, etc. Fresh cappuccino rounded out the meal. The hotel was only a couple blocks away from a street filled with open cafes and decent food. A few more blocks got you to the river. If someone asked me where to stay I would probably tell them to look elsewhere. There were other options in this price range that were better rated. Not recommended.
If you are a frequent visitor to Frankfurt Trade shows , then you will find this hotel to be very suitable .Location wise , walking distance to the fairgrounds , more walking and you are at the main train station .There is a Tram station right across the entrance of the hotel if you prefer not to walk . Food is good , reception friendly and helpful . They have several types of rooms , just make sure you have the right room , as some rooms have only one small window ( I had to upgrade mine) .One important issue to mention is the glass shower cabinet located in the middle of the room , as this may cause inconvenience to some people .
Fleming's Hotel, Messe is located only 5 minutes walk from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (city main train station), although one of the U-Bahn (subway) station entrances located within 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Many restaurants, cafes and mini super markets are located in the surrounding area. Skyline plaza (a big mall) is located 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Hotel was very clean and provided a good breakfast spread. Reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. To enter the hotel you need to carry your bags 6-7 steps up, so if you have big/heavy bags you may need to seek help from reception staff. As in the other hotels in this area (we stayed in two hotels), shower cubicle in the room is separated from toilet and located within the bedroom area. However, shower cubicle is made of plain transparent glass sheets and you may have an issue as others in the room could see you when you are having shower. Overall we had a pleasant and comfortable stay in Fleming's, Messe.
The staff is extremely friendly and the breakfast is delicious.. breakfast was included in the price. its a 3 min walk to the main station and about 15-20min walk to the city center.. the hotel is clean and the service is excellent. There is however a smell in the staircase area.. On the whole a very good experience!
Everything in this hotel is great the staff are friendly the food is amazing the cleaning this is great and the service is beyond the only downside of it is having the Tram next to it. You can hear the train every time with passes especially if you're on the lower floors. It didn't bother me while sleeping although I'm a light sleeper.
Well we wanted a quality hotel near Festhalle, Main station and city centre. We decided to book a room from Flemings. And it was worth it! Service in the reception and breakfast buffet was excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Public areas were clean. We had a room for two. It was clean, window was to the yard which was good because the streets around the hotel were quite busy. Tv,phone, shower, mini bar, free wifi...all we needed and yes great bed! Also breakfast was included in the room price. There were fruits, coffee, tea, bread, ham, bacon, eggs, vegetables etc. Very good hotel and nothing to complain about.
I stayed 3 nights recently while attending Ambiente. This property is very close to the main train station and is across the street from one of the tram lines. It's close to a coffee house, shops, restaurants, and pubs. The entrance is up steps, so you must carry your luggage up steps to the main level. The front desk staff were all very helpful, friendly, and professional. There really isn't a lobby as there's an immediate bar/cafe with high tops to the right upon reaching the main level which turns into a restaurant towards the back of the space. My room was on this main level on the other side of the restaurant. It was clean and comfortable, but really rather dark, even with lights on either side of the bed and a small lamp at the desk. In addition to the desk and chair there was another chair. The washroom area was all open glass to the rest of the room, including the shower, but not the toilet, which had it's own closet and door. The washroom was quite modern in design. The bed was ok for comfort. The lone pillow was as flat as a doormat. There was a second pillow in storage within the room, also flat as a pancake. I requested a 3rd pillow. The bed covering was a duvet.
I travel to Frankfurt regularly and sometimes also have to spend the night there. So every now and then I try out a different hotel - and the choice is huge. So this time I came accross this one. It's located some 400 m away from the central train station, maybe halfway between the train station and the famous trade fair. There's also a tram stop a few meters away from the hotel, the closest underground would probably be Hauptbahnhof (Central Station), giving you the access to the main lines, including the S-Bahn. Not a posh area as you can guess, given it's proximity to the train station. But a lively one in the sense that you have many small restaurants close by and also shops, if needed. So much for the location. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Especially at breakfast! "Would you like to have an egg, Sir? How shall we prepare it? Shall we add some bacon? Anything else?" And so on. Unlike in many other hotels the eggs are thus freshly prepared and not kept warm until your arrival. And you do taste the difference! On top of that the choice was fairly large, good quality, often biological, products. Every time I'm in Germany I actually wish to have more space in the stomach for breakfast. This time the desire to eat more was even greater! The room was functional, of decent size, facing the back, not the street, thus quiet. It did not offer a bacth, but a large shower that worked very well. If you have the room to yourself I guess it does not matter that the bathroom (not the toilet itself though!) is only seperated from the bedroom by a glass wall. I was only a little irritated in the bathroom that one of the water pipes for the sink clearly sticked out of the wall - maybe by one cm. I am not sure this really shows on the photo I took of it. Still, overall the hotel offered a great value for money, I slept very well on the large bed, and there were also sufficient sockets to load different appliances. And wifi si free of charge, too. And they even provided for an original Christmas decoration. I would however have welcomed a small bottle of water in the room free of charge. Instead I found two apples waiting for me (to stay healthy). Also a nice idea.
The rooms are comfortable and the mattresses are heavenly! Staff accommodated our requests for gluten free bread, firm pillows and a late check out without any complaint. We had a great time and will definitely return and recommend this hotel.
Usually I use trains to travel locally in Europe and being close to a train station is an advantage as it makes it easier to get to and fro. Unfortunately Frankfurt's main station is surrounded by a seedy neighborhood also including its red light district. Flemings hotel is at the edge of this area. Using the huge concourse of the train station helps to get around this very congested area and makes it easier to get to the hotel. From the hotel it is possible to walk to the Romer and museums in Frankfurt. The hotel is very comfortable; the rooms well appointed and quiet; the free internet is reasonably fast. Breakfast was included in our room rate and had a sufficient variety of food. Breakfast was very good. In addition the hotel has an excellent dining room. We had dinner there one night and it was very good. Nearby is the restaurant Stanley Diamond - around the corner and a block away in the Steigenberger Brasserie M.
