Honestly I've been stupid booking this hotel just for its name. Angel Hotel is walking distance from the central station, which is a plus if you are traveling to Frankfurt either for job or vacation. I must say this is the only plus of the hotel. It is on a secondary street which is - now I know - famous for sexy shops and red light pubs: I should have understood from the taxi driver, smiling when I mentioned "Moselstrasse"... What to say: rooms are horrible and smoke-smelling, even if they are non-smoking rooms; not all lights were working inside my room, small (smaller!) bathroom and noisy road downstairs. No comment on the breakfast, better to stop on a konditorei round the corner. Wifi did not work, but I would say this was a minor problem. I must admit the personnel were gentle and helpful in trying to find a Barbie-hairdryer for me (funny, but working). Also since I booked for 2-nights, they offered me a better room (far from the noisy road), but only for the first night: I was supposed to move on the second day. But man even if you put all your efforts on this place, it will remain forever a 0-star hotel.
I was really upset that their is nothing on their site or on booking.com about it being right in the heart of the red light district. The staff was great and I am sure they are doing what they can but I would not recommend this place unless you are in frankfurt for hookers and drugs. I will stop here nothing else positive to say.
The worst hotel I ever been in. So bad I had to check out. They would not return my money. Dirty rooms. Dirty fellow guests. Curtains not fitting. Smoke stinking bedroom. Lift not usable to descend. This is not a hotel. More like a doss house sandwiched between sex shops and strip clubs. Nightmare. Price ridiculous and does not reflect the accommodation on offer. Photos misleading.
I made a booking at this hotel 11 months before my visit at what looked to be a good price for a trade fair time, and paid online with my card. However when I arrived at the hotel they refused to honour the booking, saying that he price quoted on the website was wrong and they would refund the booking but not let me stay there unless I paid a price almost 400% higher. I asked why they had published the wrong price ("computer error") and why they hadn't contacted me in almost a whole year before my stay to advise here was a problem but instead let me travel there to tell me (no answer to this, just repeating "computer error" and saying impossible to have this price for trade fair period and trying to tell me that I should have known it was an error!) Disgusting, dishonourable and a very sad way to run a business. I have to say that the hotel looked really low class anyway from the reception area which was as far as I was able to get. In summary, avoid this place and don't trust it unless you want to risk turning up for a 7 day stay like I did with all your luggage and then have to go looking elsewhere after a 40 minute argument at reception. Horrible experience.
100 euros for 1 night was simply the worst rate ever! The room barely fit 2 person (we booked a 2 bed room). Breakfast is very simple, no internet in the room, no power plugs, tiny bathroom, tiny room. It could be an option if they charge 35 euros a night, maybe. For 100 a double bedroom? No way!
I have stayed twice now at Angel Hotel and will stay again. Its a 5 mintute walk from Frankfurts main train station, its clean and comfortable and quiet the breakfast is nice and there is free wifi.If you are looking just to stay in Frankfurt the night after or before a long flight this is the place. See you again in the summer.
I was initially happy to find a hotel near central station, but upon arrival I noticed that it is gob smack in the middle of the red light district. During the 5 minutes walk from Central station one is 'accosted' by people to enter strip clubs, porn cinemas or brothels constantly. The hotel itself hasn't seen any maintainance work since the Romans abandoned the Limes and concerning size and general appearance, the rooms would be illegal if they were prison cells. Due to its location in the night-life district, nightly noise levels are close to what one would expect right next to the runway of a major airport. I cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast as after 2 hours, I did an about-face, wrote off the 50 Euros for the night as a painful lesson learned and found looked for a different hotel in a less shady part of the city.
I stayed in this hotel for four nights. This hotel is very close to Frankfurt Main (Central) station. It is just a two to three minutes’ walk from Frankfurt Main station. Main station is connected with long distance trains, S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains. So a traveler can catch train and go anywhere from here. Frankfurt main tower is five to seven minutes walk from this hotel. Breakfast is complimentary and included in the price. Breakfast time is from 0700 hrs to 1000 hrs. Breakfast is relatively good and there are varieties of items. This is enough to fill your stomach in the morning. This hotel is right in the middle of Red light area of Frankfurt. Even the building “Sex Inn” is next to this hotel. There are lots of Table dance bars, night clubs, ladies strip clubs in and around this hotel. This is lively area so far as the good nightlife area is concerned. Those people who want to enjoy good nightlife area may stay in this hotel. Others who do not want this may avoid staying in this hotel. I stayed in this hotel in single room. Bed is not so good. Room and bathroom are moderately clean. They provide towels and liquid soap for the bathroom. There is no fan and air condition in this hotel. The hotel owner says that in Frankfurt, most of time of the year it is cold and hence no air condition and fans are available in the room. Particularly in summer the room is very hot. They provided a table fan for me. Road side rooms may be avoided as there are lots of noises which can cause disturbance in your sleep in the night. People shout to catch customers till morning in this Red light area causing lots of noise. This hotel has 24 hours reception desk. As this hotel is very close to Main station, there is no problem in getting good restaurants. They accept credit card or cash. This hotel has elevator for going upstairs. The elevator is something peculiar as it operates up and down with the room key only. Room rent is reasonably high so far as the quality of hotel is concerned. I do recommend not to stay in this hotel, if you do not like good nightlife area. Only advantage is that this hotel is very close to Frankfurt Main station and majority of places of interest are close-by.
I stayed there with a work collegue when we had to stay over in Frankfurt due to an emergency with clients and were happy enough to have any room available for the night since everywhere else was fully booked. When receiving booking information via text from our office, we initially pictured a family run B&B near the river when misinterpreting the name as "Hotel fishing rod". When being dropped off at the hotel by the cabby however, it became clear that "Hotel Angel" situated right in the middle of the red light district was an angelic affair of some other sort. The inside of the hotel was functional and quiet and despite the name it did not seem to be used as a no-tell motel. We had a good laugh about the mix up and check-in was friendly and quick. Our front-facing twin room on the 3rd floor was spacious and clean with modern furnishing. However, as the summer heat forced us to keep the window open the loud music from and noise from the bars on street level that went on until about 4am made it almost impossible to sleep. Observing the trade going on downstairs from the window was an entertaining pastime but I can imagine that walking from or to the hotel at night can be intimidating both for men, who are preyed upon as potential customers, and women alike. Breakfast the following morning was adequate and staff went out to buy more rolls as a refill for latecomers. If given the choice i would rather opt for alternative accomodation in a quieter area next time, even if that means being less centrally located. It is a clean room for a night, but not necessarily a good nights sleep.
I had the misfortune to book this place via internet. However, due to an admin mix-up at work, it turned out that I was already booked elsewhere. I called both the hotel and the booking agency within the hour to inform them of my mistake and ask for a refund. The room was booked for a major international trade fair that I attend every year, so there would have been no problem at all in re-letting the room. Despite every attempt both by me AND the booking.com (who were excellent) to speak personally to the manager of the hotel in order to effect a simple refund, (I would happily have paid an adminstration fee) the receptionist simply refused to put us through, or give us any indication of when it would be possible to speak to the manager. In the end, he became abusive, and then simply hung up (several times) or refused to answer the phone at all. The booking agency tried everything, even calling upon a native German speaker to intercede on my behalf so that there would be no language issues, and still got nowhere. Neither have they responded to email. My advice would be, don't book this hotel ever, but if you do, you'd better not need to change anything, because it won't be possible. I am horrified that hotels can treat customers like this and get away with it.
