San Gallo Palace Hotel

San Gallo is a bit out of town. You will need to use the bus or pay 15 euros to go into town. A very classy hotel. The bartender is simply the best in all of Italy. In all, experience was positive. Breakfast was amazing. Upon arrival, the hostess was very icy and inflexible.

Nice hotel. Wonderful staff, very accommodating with anything we needed. They even got us late reservations at an incredible restaurant. The only negative was poor air-conditioning-- probably not an issue most of the time but we were there in a heat wave

I had a very good experience with staff they were very helpful and informative

Great location with a short walk (approx 15 mins) to the Doumo. Staff is attentive and always helpful with suggestions and answers. Many bus lines run through the hotel so it's very convenient in a quiet neighborhood. Only two complaints I have is the temperature of the room is centralized adjust ie at the front desk and tv channels reception are terrible for the international programs such as CNN. Overall, it's a great hotel to rest ones tired feet and have a good rest.

Is quite, 10 minutes walking from Galeria del Academia.

We appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff members that we had contact with. The breakfast was of a nice variety and a pleasant start to the day. It was the best offering of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip. We appreciated the offer of refills of the wonderful cappuccinos. This is the only hotel that offered refills. Much of the historical center was in easy walking distance, but when we were tired from walking, it was easy to return to the hotel by bus. We enjoyed getting gelato in the neighborhood behind the hotel and sitting in the neighborhood park to enjoy it while people watching, locals with their children, grandchildren, and pets.

hotel is located a short walk to downtown. Great restaurant right around the corner.

Quaint hotel. Very clean. Close enough for the convenience, but quiet and away from the noise of the city.

Great hotel, Reasonable rate great service Free breakfast Location about a 20 min walk from the center of Florence Only minor detail was that WIFI was not included

My friend and I stayed two nights at this hotel. Beware the steep steps up from the front door; hopefully your bags won't be too heavy because it appeared that all the hotels were up a flight of stairs. This room was small and a bit old, but it was just fine for our purposes. It was clean, well-maintained, and quiet. The beds were a bit hard. The bathroom had a hairdryer. The shower was small, but big enough. The hotel claimed to have free wi-fi in the lobby, but sadly it does not work with smart phones... how very strange. The breakfast was very nice, in a lovey dining room. The coffee was horrible (as it was at all our hotels in Italy). We really liked the location. It was right by the train station which is sooo important in Venice. You DO NOT want to walk all over with suitcases looking for your hotel. And the water buses and taxis are EXPENSIVE. This also meant that it was away from the massive crowds that are swarming the tourist areas. We could actually walk freely in our neighborhood. This may not be a problem the whole year, but our trip was in tourist high season August. It was also next door to the best (and cheapest) gelato shop of our whole Italy trip!

We stayed two nights at this hotel. It was a little bit of a distance to the tourist areas compared to a lot of the hotels, but worth the little walk for the quality and the price. This hotel was beautiful. It must be new or recently remodeled. It was as nice as any 4 star American hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable (although the beds were a bit hard). The bathroom had a full bathtub, which my friend and I each excitedly used after our long day of sightseeing. It also had a hairdryer and converted outlet. There was wi-fi for a fee, but it was cutting out. You could use the internet on the computer in the lobby, but that also was for a fee, which I found odd. The breakfast was nice, and we ate on a beautiful, peaceful patio.

This was a very nice hotel, but it's very far from downtown, and not as close to the train station as it looked on the map. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Duomo, and the hotel staff said that's the best way to get there (in other words, there doesn't seem to be a bus route that's easy). We had an actual queen bed (as opposed to 2 twins pushed together, as many hotels had) and the room was very clean, if not large. The bathroom was very nice and it had a rain shower and spouts on the side, too. The breakfast was very good as well and we ate outside on a nice patio.

The TV doesn't work well, but besides that it's a great hotel. Great location and parking is only 10.00 euro per day. Very clean and hotel staff were very nice and helpful.

Very nice hotel, nice accomodations. Room was spacious, very clean and up-to-date furniture and decoration. Staff was very friendly and helpful. 10 minute walking distance from Galleria della Accademia. Overall great experience.

This is a very nice property situated away from the hustle and noise of the old city center and its crowds. It's an easy walk to all the sights and there is a great pastry place nearby on the walk to/from the center of town. Breakfast was good as well with a nice and varied selection of items from sliced meats, pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit, and eggs. The staff was attentive but unobtrusive.

Quiet hotel and location, at walking distance from all the famous sites in Florence. We brought our 10-month old daughter, and the hotel was the perfect starting point for our walks (with stroller) into the old city. Staff was very friendly, room was great, and breakfast was the perfect start for our long days in Florence. If we ever return to Florence (we're certainly planning to), we'll be returning to this hotel for sure.

I have stayed in Florence before, and at this hotel once before in a double room, which was a nice experience. So I was expecting another pleasant stay. However this time I had my wife and son with me, so booked a triple suite. The room turned out to be very large, with two+ rooms, and had a door that exited out onto a huge red tiled patio overlooking the Square. The amenities in the room were great, the breakfast was very good, and the front desk service was outstanding. I can do nothing but again fully recommend this hotel.

My boyfriend and I visited Florence for a few days and stayed at San Gallo during the visit. It is a short bus ride from the train station which is wonderful. Due to the size of Florence we found that we could walk from the hotel to a get part of Florence for food within 20 minutes. Rooms were great and the staff was amazing! They helped with all questions and spoke many different languages. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet which kept us fueled all morning.

San Gallo is a nice hotel that caters more to the business traveler to Florence, and not the tourist. The hotel is not close the the main sites in Florence. It was a good 30 minute walk to the Duomo/Uffizi etc. The staff is friendly and attentive. The assisted in making reservations via email in advance of the trip, and offered nice dining suggestions while we were there. If this hotel was a mile closer, it would be 4-stars.

The hotel was beautiful, rooms are clean and well-cared. No free WIFI but only with 5€ payment - a shame - that's a feature that comes frelly in lower-rated hotels. Good service. Breakfeast was a bit of dissapointment - no salad at all, just eggs, bread cheese and cornflakes.
