Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever ( Nadine) so lovely and great first impression of hotel. Couldn't have been more sweet, giving me directions to the restaurants, sightseeing along with a helpful map. If nothing else had gone right with hotel this lady ensured I would have left with a good impression. Fortunately everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I don't give praise lightly. It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in both bar where we had our breakfast . Food was beyond good and great value for money and service in both places attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I could go on but suffice it to say I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.
I would have given this hotel 4 stars had it not been for what I will describe below. First, a huge thanks to Nadine at front desk for her warmth, kindness and for always being willing to fulfill my requests. A huge thanks to Vito the concierge and the most amazing housekeeper Paola: always smiling, super professional and friendly, nothing ever seemed to be a problem for her even petsitting my cat on one occasion when I was so stressed for what will follow below. Also all housekeepers I met on the 40 nights I spent there, they were one better than the other. The hotel is modern, rooms are a bit dated but very comfortable, I had a nice balcony and the bed was amazing. The location was ideal for me as it is outside the chaos of the city centre, facing Florence's largest park and just by the Arno river. Public transport 2 mins walk. Breakfast was ok, what was annoying though was that they often removed the food 10-15 minutes before closing time. I stayed at this hotel for 40 nights for work and work related reasons. Given the long stay (at high season), I relied on the NH rewards program to earn points to pay towards some nights. Even though I paid on a weekly basis the points had a massive delay so that I was never able to use them. Their system works in a way that you earn your points well after you've checked out to encourage you to book at an NH hotel again. Little did it count to them that I was there for 40 nights and the price was not cheap. To make things even more ridiculous I receive a 20% discount voucher from the NH rewards program to use during a stay. I ask if I can use it and they say no. You can only use it on a future stay and only if you pay full rate. I got a flat rate of 123 euros per night -which to me was almost a full rate, their rates in those days ranged between 130-180 euros per night. Some nights were below 123 euros. I point out again that I am there on a long stay and perhaps they could show some flexibility, why not even gratitude for having a guest stay that long... No. The rewards program department blames the front desk, the front desk blames the department and I get caught in the middle. Obviously nothing gets done. Each time I approach front desk for an update the answer is the same: "You'll need to pay full fare if you want to use the voucher and you need to make a new reservation". That's what the management said. I already found that quite offensive if you consider the length of my stay (as well as a previous 4 stays at this hotel)....the worst though is still to come. It happens to be Pitti days, the biggest fashion event that takes place in Florence. Front desk warns me to look for another accommodation because they are sold out on one of those nights. As it turns out the overbooking is not even that high maybe 2-3 rooms so they could easily have moved another guest to another hotel but no. They choose me. Their most loyal guest who basically lived there and wasn't on a holiday. Pitti was a very important event for me too for work reasons. The "forced" check out day arrives and not only I have to rush to work but I also have a cat with me and we both have nowhere to go for the night. I can't even begin to describe the level of stress I was in and management was nowhere to be found. The only front desk solution was to offer to book me at an NH hotel in Bologna. No offer for compensation. Nothing. When I declined their Bologna offer (after having told them many times I had to be in Florence for work) they almost treated me as if I was a difficult guest (!!) Paola the housekeeper was SO kind and helpful that she offered to take care of the cat while I had to rush to work as she knew I hadn't found any accommodation. She worked like crazy as it was a hectic day and still found time to take the kitty around with her in her carrier. She even stayed at the hotel after she finished her shift to wait for me to pick her up. I was supposed to return to this hotel on the following day as my reservation was placed long ago. I cancelled the reservation needless to say. I barely got an apology from the GM and an acknowledgement that something went wrong "with the NH rewards department"...not with themselves obviously. No offer to make it up, nothing at all. The funniest part? After all the above the manager sent me a booking confirmation with a much higher price that before just to allow me to use the 20% voucher I was entitled to. Talk about gratitude. To say that I found their attitude unprofessional and blatantly offensive is an understatement. Good luck to their system, there is so much accommodation choice in Florence with warm and professional staff and in more central areas. I'll never set foot in this place again. Front desk must have asked me at least 4 times for a review, so here it is, my review. Anything they will answer to the above is a blatant cover up for their failure to treat a loyal guest with the respect they deserve.
We stayed for three nights. It was a great hotel for the price and friendly staff. There was a balcony off of our room and they had both a shower and a soak tub in the bathroom. There is a rooftop bar which provides an excellent spot for a drink at sunset. Florence is a small city and you're within walking distance to most places. Train station/bus terminal was about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. It's also a short walk to the center of town.
The location of this hotel is what we liked the most. Next to the river and just a short walk from ponte vecchio and the shopping. It's just next to the American embassy so it is a quieter area. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful.
Reasonable hotel. Not a typical Florence experience. Could have been anywhere, its a business hotel. The rooms are OK, reasonably clean, but showing signs of wear. Location is not great, little bit removed from the main City. Everything is a 10+ min walk away.
Outstanding hotel! Special thanks to "Nadine" who was an outstanding receptionist. She went above and beyond helping us plan our stay and visit. She helped arrange for transportation and make dinner and sightseeing arrangements especially with kids! She deserves a promotion for her wide knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills. The one suggestion for the hotel is to maybe have a way for strollers to get to the restaurant (maybe a ramp) for us traveleing with kids on strollers. Otherwise the food was great and room was outstanding! Thank you :-)
Everything about our stay was excellent: the rooms, breakfast & service, Roberta and Nadine at the front desk in particular were kind, professional, friendly, and very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay, NH.
When we arrived we met a lovely receptionist. She was smiley and full of humour. When I had arrived to my room I noticed nice contemporary design. It was very classy and clean. The room was equipped with tv, safe, minibar, hairdryer, toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. The iron was located in the ironing room on the -1 floor. Opened from 06:00 to 23:00. The hotel it's a very short walk to the ponte vecchio. On the rooftop there is a lovely bar with breath taking views. Would highly recommend this hotel.
A bag with about 400 Euros worth of merchandise was missing from our room! Don't know what happened but we went out for the day to tour the city and when we checked out the next day it was gone! Hotel said they don't have it!
NH Firenze hotel is excellent. I have attached a picture of the sunset from our balcony. Even better view of the same from the rooftop bar. (That bar also offers a nice view towards the Duomo in the evening.) Great place! Front desk, room service, and bar/restaurant staff are friendly and very helpful; especially Nadine at the front desk, who answered a lot of questions and arranged 2 tours for us expertly and Melody, who was seemingly everywhere we were when we needed drinks and food! We booked through Costco. They have great rates and helpful agents when planning and booking travel and helpful customer service during travel. NH Firenze - clean rooms, recently renovated! Melody and Nadine are each 5 stars!!
