I have traveled several times to Florence and have stayed 4 times at Albergo Firenzie. The rooms are clean - ours had mini frig - very useful quick grocery about 3 minutes away. The wifi connection was great - which was unusual often iffy in hotels. The staff helpful & friendly. The location excellent- food gelato shopping & major sites minutes away. I will stay again next time I go
We booked a bit late and had limited selection. Having just come from Royal San Marco in Venice, this was a major let down ! Tiny rooms with a view of a polluted alley.....the toilet hardly flushed leaving us with less than fresh odours in the room.....beds were rock hard.......elevators took forever and were tiny. The only benefit was it being close to the downtown core and that if offered a decent euro style breakfast (croissants, cereal, pastry, meats & cheese...........no eggs / bacon)......
From checking in only 5.5 hours ago I have had to contact the desk staff 4 times. Don't even think you will be able to use the wi-fi! That's how they keep you here ... cannot look for another hotel to move to. Toilet doesn't flush properly. AC is useless. The desk clerk clearly prefers EU patrons to those from North America. She "forgot" to mention how absolutely ANYTHING works in this crappy place. However with my limited French I was able to listen to her very very detailed explanation to the French family checking during my first of four visits to the desk. they don't leave the remotes for thr tv the room. They give it to you at checkin but, she forgot. And security? That's a joke. There is one key they make you leave at the desk when you leave the hotel during the day. And don't forget to purposely lock the door when you come back because it doesn't lock behind you. The safe? You have to give them a €10 deposit for the key, and again, I had to read about that because that pleasant woman neglected to also tell me that....one more trip to the desk!!! After numerous attempts to use the wifi, the router then had to be reset, but seriously....don't plan in using it for anything you may need to during your stay. Have a backup plan. As to comfort, beds horribly hard with one VERY thin pillow per person. ONLY good thing is location and seriously folks, that's it. Walls are paper thin as are doors. Can hear absolutely everything.
Although well positioned, the hotel is sub-standard! The air conditioning did not work, nor did the fridge. Had to complain 3 times before they offered a "better" room, but the aircon didn't work there either. The bathroom was poorly maintained, and had mould in places. The continental breakfast was an absolute joke, and certainly not worth the money. It was a terrible hotel.
I was on research assignment in Europe for the first time through my undergraduate degree, and my parents decided to join me in Italy. They stayed at a beautiful and extremely friendly hotel in Arezzo while I took part in an art festival at a local university. Perhaps our incredible opportunity in Arezzo tainted our experience in Florence... but not as much as the hotel staff tainted it. We never had much issue with the front desk staff, but they were nowhere near the smiling, friendly faces we had become accustomed to in Arezzo. My main issue is with a woman who was working the breakfast service. Truth be told, the mistake was mine, but the situation could have been handled with significantly more grace. During breakfast at the Albergo, only one type of bread can be put in the toaster as is indicated by a small sign above and behind the toaster. I simply did not see this sign, and put a different slice of bread in. A walked away to set my plate down as I waited for the bread to toast, and when I turned around, this woman was standing with the bread held high in the air, scanning the room with a scowl. I looked at her inquisitively and she pointed the bread at me quite violently. I said, "Yes, it's mine. I'm sorry for walking away." She then shoved the bread at me, and pointed aggressively to the small sign that I had not seen. I apologized, told her I had not seen the sign, and assured her I would not do it again. She then looked at me, pointed at the bread, pointed at the toaster, pointed at the sign, said "No! No! No!" and shook her head. By now, of course, everyone was looking and the situation had become quite a scene. She stormed off, and I was left with slightly warmed, already stale bread in my hand mortified with all eyes on me. I always try to rise above, but I ate my (quite unsatisfying) breakfast in tears of frustration at being humiliated publicly over a simple mistake. Basically, my day was ruined because I put bread in a toaster. As for the rest of the hotel... I guess things were fine? It's noisy, but that's because of the nice location. We always hung our "Do Not Disturb" sign, but the room was always cleaned anyway which made me slightly uncomfortable when leaving my valuables. The wifi was super faulty which made it hard to keep in touch back home. But hey, it's a big city. There is hustle and bustle, and it was a big change from Arezzo. I could see this hotel being suitable for some... just maybe not happy families trying to make happy memories.
This hotel was in a great location! We were easily able to walk everywhere. This was probably the best thing about this hotel. The rooms were OK-nothing fancy, but clean. No carpet on the floor. Bathroom very small. Overall, I would have been fine with this hotel, but the air conditioning worked very poorly in the middle of July. We asked the front desk to have it checked & he did. He reported that it was working fine. We knew it would be very hot in Florence in July. However, after a long hot day of touring, we needed a way to cool off & refresh & this hotel did not offer that. It was also difficult to sleep because of the heat. Perhaps staying on the 5th floor didn't help matters. Our daughters had a separate room & while theirs was cooler, it was still hotter than we would have liked. The breakfast was OK. Our hotels in Venice & Rome offered way more choice and a much nicer setting. One last thing-the front desk is very accommodating. They placed a call for us confirming a tour, helped with directions, etc. Water, both still & sparkling is sold for a reasonable price at this hotel. With the hot temperatures we took advantage of this during our 5 night stay. If you don't mind a very simple hotel room & a sub par air conditioner, then I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed 5 nights with friends early this month. It was my first time in Florence and I was definitely sad to leave after my stay. One main reason was I stayed at an awesome hotel. The location is absolutely perfect!!!!! We were able to walk everywhere and everything was central to the hotel. It is actually the most amazing location. Room was super clean and when asked to add more towels during the day, the service was spot on. Wifi was not great in the room and breakfast was average but overall the hotel is amazing. Shops right outside the door. Coffee right in front of the hotel. So important.. I'll definitely stay again and look forward to another trip to Florence. Thank you albergofirenze
this one is just 10 minutes walk from the railway station and just about 2 minutes from the duomos. The rooms are well kept and the breakfast platter is too good. The staff is well mannered and always ready to help you for guidance.
We booked this hotel the day before and we stayed for 3 nights! It's was so cheap for the centre of Florence. We were close to every thing we wanted. The hotel is clean and tidy and staff very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included in the price. Our flight was not until 7pm and we had to checkout at half 10 but was able to leave our luggage there all day at no extra fee. We even waited in reception the last hour before our train!! The rooms was great, beds comfy. Our only little moan was the AC could of been stronger but that's it definitely recommend to stay here!!
The hotel is located minutes away from the Cathedral and the square; ideal for visiting most attractions by foot. We wanted a double bed and a single bed, but got three single beds. There is a refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was included in our fare and had cereals, bread & spreads, croissant selection, yoghurt, cakes and coffee/juice (from machine). Hotel shows its age with dated interiors. Bathroom was minimal and the shower head pipe in ours was leaking. Aircon was in working order. The staff at the front desk speak English and were friendly to deal with. We got a deal off of TripAdvisor and couldn't really fault the place for the price. I'd recommend if you aren't after luxury and want to stay quite central to all the attractions.
