Four Seasons Hotel Firenze

Stayed at the FS Firenze last week (20th -24th March). I was there with my husband for our anniversary. Initially when we checked in they took us to a villa building in the gardens which was away from the main building. We then requested a room in the main building (having not been aware there were different buildings). Staff were very good and we paid to upgrade to a few levels up and got a nice suite. Room was lovely very comfortable, the bathroom had a lovely free standing bath with huge windows. On the plus side: 1. Hotel is away from the crowds which is nice but sometimes a trek into the main tourist area. 2. Room was lovely, very clean and nicely designed. 3. Concierge (particularly one lady) was excellent very knowledgeable and organised many things for us with ease such as restaurant reservations (Buca Mario - wonderful restaurant) car hire, tickets for attractions etc... 4. Food was very good, evening pianist wonderful. On the negative: 1. Service is very hit and miss. Most of the staff were very good, the younger members of staff were most delightful so that at least is a credit. However at times the bar area/lounge managers were rather brash, one of the bar managers (balding chap) who was also at breakfast on the last morning we were there was just awful. No hellos, not replenishing drinks, pulling chairs, not speaking to us at all though he had ample time for some other particular guests. It felt rather awkward. My husband commented to me that maybe they like the “Americans” better because they tip handsomely. I think that was the case. Personally at a Four Seasons I would expect standardised service and not this half hearted and rather rude attempt at pleasantries. It felt very disingenuous and rather unpleasant. I will not be returning for this reason to this hotel. 2. Staff were also very undecided about our names, one morning I was Mrs M.... the next Mrs K.....the next my husband was Sheikh....or Mr S...., it’s was most irregular. I just wish they would ask and then stop calling us by various names. 3. Distance to the main tourist attractions was far, we had not envisaged how far but you certainly will be walking a great deal. The hotel is in the quieter less frequented part of the city. 4. No restaurants near the hotel so if you want to eat it’s a taxi ride back into the main areas and then back again, this meant we ate at the hotel most nights. We were paying circa €1000 a night. I would say not money well spent. I will be staying elsewhere on my next visit to Florence. Whilst it is aesthetically one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, the hit and miss service is what lets this place down. Five star but not great.

As said above, we are coming every year to the Four Season Florence, its always such a pleasure, so kind and lovely staff, the Hotel is perfectly kept, offering with there traditional Italian touch great hospitality + every year new ideas and services in food and accommodation...don´t miss the flowerdecoration, spectacular... this year all the Medicivillas visited, the Laurenzianalibrary with the unique Michelangelo staircase.... excellent food at La Bottega del Buon Cafe, fancy drinks at Il Locale....

I encourage all to experience this hotel. Stay if your can afford it; have a drink at the bar if that is all you can do. The staff really do care for their guests. Not everything may be perfect every hour of the day but the desire of the management to go out of their way to assist is very special. The standard comments in reviews like the beautiful grounds, fantastic fitness centre and amazing foyer are a given but it is the staff that means you will remember this hotel fondly.

I loved this hotel sooo much. The restaurants in the hotel were fantastic. We enjoyed the pool and spa. This was a wonderful experience. Florence is my favorite city. I would come back again and again.

Loved it! Will always stay at this location when in Florence. Every experience was top notch, exceeding expectations. My wife wanted cookies and they were out one day so they baked enough each day to accommodate her desires.

Great food and wine choices. Very friendly staff. I would definitely stay again. Very close to shopping and restaurants. I would definitely recommend to all my friends as the place to stay in Florence.

Loved every bit of and every minute spent at this hotel. The ever-so-friendly and helpful staff, the beautifully manicured private garden, the stunning and opulent decor, the comfortable and luxurious rooms/bathrooms, the lounge, the gymnasium, etc...... Impeccable service! This is just a stunning hotel. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!! One of The Best (if not the Best) hotels we've ever stayed in the world!

I love this place. My wife and I got married here and we love going back. I've stayed at quite a few Four Seasons and I think this is the most beautiful, though I would see merit to arguing for the Lion Palace or Gresham Palace. I've probably seen or stayed in 10 different rooms and all have been very nice (and all on the palace side). The private gardens are a wonderful quiet escape. I've love working from the bar and to me this distance from the more touristy stuff is perfect. Easily walkable, but the property remains a quiet refuge. I have no ideas for improvement, I hope this place remains the same year after year and that I can return many times.

My 7th visit to this hotel and every single time I enjoy it more. The service is outstanding, the personnel take time to go out of their way to make your stay perfect. There is not one detail that they miss, even housekeeping, my iphone wires were neatly collected, my glasses were laid upon a cloth for cleaning them, even clothes left around the room were perfectly folded as if in a boutique. There is nothing to criticize. The only thing to do is to enjoy such fabulous hospitality..... and even though you pay for it, it is worth every single penny.

This is one of the best hotels that i have ever been. The hotel its like a museum inside, very beautiful. The rooms are well decorated and have a comfy bed. The service is amazing, like every four season. One of the best hotels in the world.
