This hotel is in a good location central to Florence and many of the key “piazzas”.. BUT proceed with caution. We booked thru a travel site and we were shuffled off to the ‘annex’ one and a half blocks away from the main hotel. Our room and bathroom were incredibly small even by European standards. If you happen to weigh over 200 pounds and/or if you are over 6’2 I honestly don’t think you could use the bathroom or shower. Two people couldn’t fit in the bathroom at the same time. The breakfast was average as was the service—even in the main hotel the more expansive breakfast wasn’t that great —this really isn’t a full service “hotel” though they make a good show of it in the pictures. In the annex the lobby is located on the 2nd floor and the street where the annex is located has a few dodgy characters and stores.

Stayed here with my partner for 4 nights whilst we visited Florence. We were extremely disappointed with the room which was very dark and had broken air conditioning. After the first night this was fixed but extremely weak and did not cool the room at all. The room itself was very dated and the only up side was the comfy bed and a powerful shower. The location of the hotel was good. The breakfast was poor and we didn't bother after the first day. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Forget taxi and enjoy Firenze on foot: if you choose this old and historical hotel you can reach all monuments and most interesting touristic locations of the city. Nice rooms, friendly and professional service.

On arrival we got a free upgrade, which was a great way to kick off our stay here. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Our room was excellent, it was good size, clean and had a massive balcony with sunbeds and chairs on it... Not very private though. We also had a sauna in our room but didn't get a chance to use it. We also received a complimentary bottle of Red wine which was great. The one downside to this hotel was, the walls were quite thin as we could hear things like toilets flushing and showers running. Very good hotel and great location to summarise.

Booked this hotel through BA with my fiancé. Upon arrival the place looks beautiful and the staff at reception are extreme polite and friendly. We booked a 4 star hotel room with breakfast through BA as stated however this is not what we got which was a real shame as the photos of this hotel looked beautiful. We were actually moved to another hotel which was just down the street, this was not exactly the 4 star hotel that we had booked and nowhere on our booking form were we told that we would be moved. The other building itself was a little strange it was a locked door on the side of the street more like a set of apartment blocks where we stayed on floor 3. The room itself was very clean with nice colours but was quite small the bathroom too was clean and cute but again small. It was a real shame that we had been moved away from the hotel we had actually booked because this did leave a bit of disappointment in our minds when we were traveling the beautiful city of Florence. We had to go over to the main hotel (the one we actually booked) to go for breakfast although there was a small breakfast in the hotel we were put it but that only had a few pastries on offer. The breakfast at the main hotel was average. Some foods would run out extremely quickly, normally this would be the bread and some other pastries that were on offer. There was a good selection of meets and cheeses along with cereals and hot/cold drinks. There was also some hot food available but the bacon was extremely undercooked every morning. The location is very good as are most places in Florence due to its small size and walking around the city is easy. There are also plenty of restaurants around that serve wonderful food. Overall we left this hotel a little disappointed especially as we had booked one hotel and were put in another that was certainly not 4 stars and we were not told about being put there when we booked through BA. However the room we were in was cute with beautiful ceiling and very clean!

Recently stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed. I had read previous reviews about hotel rooms not been ready and having to stay in another hotel up the road but thought it would be unlucky if this were to happen, but it did! We had booked two rooms as we were away with friends. Upon arrival at approximately 6pm we were told one of the rooms had had a problem that couldn’t be fixed and one couple would have to stay at their other hotel for the night. We were not at all happy about this and said we didn’t want to stay in a separate hotel to our friends so they agreed our friends could stay there the night too. We were promised both rooms would be ok the following day. The manager took us on a route March to the hotel which was about 400metres away in another street. Well we were so upset when we arrived as it was like a hostel! There was a key that opened the door straight off the street and we had to go up 2 flights of stairs in a dark and dingy hallway. There was no one on duty when we arrived, only manned in the morning. If we needed anything we had to phone the night porter at the main hotel! We didn’t feel at all safe with this arrangement. The room itself was clean, the bathroom was very small but had a good shower. The following morning we went back to the hotel and asked to put our cases straight in our rooms. The receptionist said they wouldn’t be ready until 1pm! Not good enough but there was nothing we could do as we were only in Florence for 3 nights. We had breakfast which was ok nothing special. The waitress Nailisa was very helpful and polite. She was almost single handedly dealing with everything for breakfast. Waitressing, washing up making coffee. She was very apologetic when at 8.45am all the bread and rolls had gone! Breakfast didn’t finish until 10am! This happened two mornings. They sent someone out to get more bread but that is basic, it was the staple part of the breakfast. When we eventually got in to our room we were in the eves at the top of the hotel, approximately up 4 flights of stairs. There is no lift! It wasn’t too much of a problem for us as we are reasonably fit but could be a big problem for some. The room was clean enough but was in need of some tlc. It looked tatty and tired. It certainly was not up to being a 4 star hotel. Their website states there is a coffee maker in every room but there wasn’t. There was a kettle with two teabags, no milk and certainly no coffee. The teabags weren’t replenished either. The worse thing though was the fact that there was no proper window in the room, just a roof window. It rained all night on to the tiled roof above the bed which was extremely noisy and kept us awake all night! Really hoped the service would have been better during our stay which was a birthday celebration for myself and friend. I would definitely not recommend this hotel. I feel angry that they must over sell their rooms and put unassuming guests in a lower standard of hotel. The only decent thing about staying here was the location.

A small hotel with a lot of authentic character right in the heart of Florence, two blocks from the Duomo and four blocks from the Uffizi/Palazzo Vecchio. We were immediately impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the care that was taken with every detail of our stay. Our top-floor, walk-up room was clean with an extremely comfortable bed and spacious shower. Continental breakfasts showcased a diversity of savory and sweet foods, including freshly-made pancakes. Be sure to take full advantage of the opportunity to drink wine in their recently rediscovered 14th century wine cellar!

When we arrived at the hotel we were advised that one of the 2 rooms we had booked was unavailable and we were to stay in another hotel, part of the same group, further down the road. The hotel is not manned in the evening so we were given a key to gain access. It did not have a nice atmosphere and was very dark and unappealing and a lower grade. We couldn't wait to leave the next morning to return to the original hotel- our room was still not ready!!! Breakfast was ok and the morning staff worked very hard and were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel rooms are ok, they were clean but other parts of the hotel are in desperate need of an update and repaint. Must give pasquale a mention- he was very helpful. Perfect location for visiting Florence - all within walking distance. Definitely not a 4 star hotel.

I and my two teenage daughters spent a wonderful four days at the hotel in early January. The location is great, just a few blocks from the Cathedral and San Lorenzo and San Marco. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and well appointed. I would describe it as charming for its old world décor and layout. If you are worried about a spacious bedroom, keep in mind this Florence, the building dates from the 16th century, and you don't go to Florence to stay in your hotel room. I wish I could have taken advantage of the wine tasting. There is a lovely wine cellar, but we had to leave very early the next morning.

I have very mixed feelings about our hotel in Florence. We got lost trying to find the hotel from the train station as the instructions provided by the hotel indicated that we would be able to see the Duomo from the train station. Needless to say, we could not. And, even after we finally found the Duomo, the hotel was difficult to find. And, getting there is difficult with luggage because the streets were uneven and there was a lot of "construction" close to the train station. After about an hour of various frustrations, we arrived at the hotel, where we were told that they were putting us in their new building "next door." "Next door" turned out to be several blocks away, but they did send someone with us so we didn't get lost again. They also really talked up the new building, telling us we would love the room because it was two levels. Well it was really just a small room with a sitting area downstairs and beds up a very steep spiral staircase that was very difficult to navigate. Also the lighting was so atrocious that I actually did not see the bottom step and had a bad fall the first morning we were there, causing some minor injuries. Then, we had to go back to the original hotel every morning in order to get any hot breakfast items. Both locations were good and close to all the major tourist destinations in the beautiful city of Florence.
