I and my two teenage daughters spent a wonderful four days at the hotel in early January. The location is great, just a few blocks from the Cathedral and San Lorenzo and San Marco. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and well appointed. I would describe it as charming for its old world décor and layout. If you are worried about a spacious bedroom, keep in mind this Florence, the building dates from the 16th century, and you don't go to Florence to stay in your hotel room. I wish I could have taken advantage of the wine tasting. There is a lovely wine cellar, but we had to leave very early the next morning.

I have very mixed feelings about our hotel in Florence. We got lost trying to find the hotel from the train station as the instructions provided by the hotel indicated that we would be able to see the Duomo from the train station. Needless to say, we could not. And, even after we finally found the Duomo, the hotel was difficult to find. And, getting there is difficult with luggage because the streets were uneven and there was a lot of "construction" close to the train station. After about an hour of various frustrations, we arrived at the hotel, where we were told that they were putting us in their new building "next door." "Next door" turned out to be several blocks away, but they did send someone with us so we didn't get lost again. They also really talked up the new building, telling us we would love the room because it was two levels. Well it was really just a small room with a sitting area downstairs and beds up a very steep spiral staircase that was very difficult to navigate. Also the lighting was so atrocious that I actually did not see the bottom step and had a bad fall the first morning we were there, causing some minor injuries. Then, we had to go back to the original hotel every morning in order to get any hot breakfast items. Both locations were good and close to all the major tourist destinations in the beautiful city of Florence.

This is a lovely quirky hotel in the centre of Florence. It is within walking distance of all the main attractions. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Be warned though this hotel has no lift. Can't wait for a return visit

This hotel has great staff the rooms are comfortable clean but a little old also if you don't like lots of stairs it's not for you location is excellent not far from train stain or all sights bed was very comfortable wine cellar is excellent breakfast was good good budget hotel no frills

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in a deluxe suite. The weather was cool during our stay and I room was very comfortable. The location is great as nothing is too far of a walk. The breakfast was good but the espresso seemed to be instant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I find myself back in Florence.

I was very impressed with my stay at this hotel. The location couldn't be better. It is only a 5 minute walk to the duomo. When we arrived, we were welcomed by David on reception who swiftly checked us in and gave us all the information we needed. Our room was very spacious and we were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of chianti which I thought was a lovely touch. The staff were very helpful whenever we had any queries.

The Ginori al Duomo is situated in Via di Ginori, just off the Piazza San Lorenzo. Travel from the central station is very simple and quite short, which makes arrival from here very convenient. The hotel is a well kept low key place and has rooms at several standards. It is understood that all rooms are air conditioned and so should remain cool even in the height of summer. Facilities include a swimming pool, (a small extra cost), and a cellar wine bar with tasting sessions. The staff are helpful and will attempt to accommodate most requests. This is a good hotel from which to base oneself to explore Florence. We would stay again.

We had initially been looking forward to this hotel given its 4 star rating, pool, and good reviews. We checked-in in early August for a 2-night stay in the middle of a heat wave where temperatures were 100F during the day and very humid. When we were able to get into our room at around 3PM, we discovered that we were on the very top floor in an attic space with no open windows, no ventilation and an air-conditioning unit that did not work properly (it was running but hardly any cool air was coming out). The other reviews are accurate that there is no lift in this hotel. That would really not be that terrible if it had not been for the lack of ventilation, air-conditioning and ventilation. Once we were in the room, it was actually more miserable in the room than it was outside. We tried to cool off at the pool but as soon as we got back into the room it was stifling. We let the front desk know and asked if they had fans or if they could get the AC to work and they said they would look into it. We left and returned 3 hours later to find out that nothing had been done. They said that we did not leave our key with them and they couldn't get in. We had no idea that they only had one key to the room (the one they gave us) and they also had not asked for it before we left 3 hrs ago. They said they would come up once we returned at around 7PM. We got back into the room and it was humid, hot, and suffocating -- so much that my boyfriend started to get heatstroke and started to have an asthma attack. He tried to take a cold shower to cool down but the water was not very cold and it didn't help at all. In the meantime, management did come up and opened up the vents on the AC but the AC was not functioning properly and it didn't help at all. We asked if they had another room and they did not. I asked if they had a fan at least and they said they would look into it. I thought we were going to have to call an ambulance at that point since my boyfriend was having a very difficult time breathing so I quickly searched for some other hotels in the area and we packed up and had to leave. Right before we left the room the hotel staff came up with a fan that they had purchased that was still in a box. At that point we were so exhausted, hot, and sick that there was no way we could even try to put it together. We let them know at the front desk why we were leaving and told them that the room was uninhabitable and way too hot and would not be staying for our 2-day stay. Overall, the staff was polite but unfortunately, this hotel room was not inhabitable, at least not during the summer months, and especially not with a properly functioning air-conditioning. I really want to caution anyone from staying here just because the ventilation issue for us was a really health hazard and we really were on the brink of a medical emergency. Thankfully, we were able to find another hotel in Florence, and did not have to make a visit to the emergency room. However, had we tried to stay in the room, I don't think that would have been the case. Perhaps this room is ok in the winter months when it is cooler outside, but there is really no way to tell.

We enjoyed the location of this hotel, right near the Duomo. We also enjoyed the breakfast and gorgeous outdoor courtyard. Lovely staff; very helpful and friendly. The wine cellar in the basement was really neat too. The lobby was comfortable and a nice place to relax. The rooms and bathrooms were large and well maintained, although a bit outdated in terms of decor, furniture, flooring, etc.

The hotel Manager went above and beyond to help us, fixing an issue he was under no obligation to do. We had a problem with the website we booked through. They charged us for a Family Room but only booked a Standard Room with the hotel. Website's fault, not the hotel's. Anyway, the hotel Manager upgraded us to what we had paid the website for, which was a much higher room type than what he had been paid for. Parts of this hotel are from the 16th century but it has been renovated beautifully. It's in a great central location, walking distance to everywhere important. Buffet breakfast was good, in a lovely outdoor courtyard. The staff booked day tours for us at great rates (no commission) and did it so efficiently. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence.
