Stayed here for 5 nights and was very impressed. The hotel is in a superb location, is excellently set out and the rooms are great. The staff were super friendly, professional and always willing to help. The rooms are quiet, comfortably appointed, there's plenty of storage space with cupboards and wardrobes, there was a fridge / minibar, a great TV and the bed was superbly comfortable. The bathroom was great with a fabulous walk in shower and there was a hairdryer. The free in room safe was one of the reasons I booked this hotel. Highly recommended!
When friends and I were looking for a hotel in Bilbao, NH Ria pointed out its proximity and views to the Guggenheim. Furthermore it distincted between regular rooms and rooms with balcony/terrace and "views" (of course more expensive). So what does someone expect if he decides to pay double the price of a standard room and reserves a Junior Suite with views????? When we arrived we had to find out that the "balcony/terrace" was not more than a coloured glass walled sitting area that was only large enough for a lounge chair. No balcony/terrace.... And the view??? Well.... Apart from the fact that with pink, green or violet windows and the same diffuse light in the rooms we felt like on a LSD trip - what do you see on the 1st and 2nd floor with a Main Street and trees in front of your hotel, the Guggenheim Museum 600m around the corner and a high level bridge in between??? My friends and I protested about the incorrect description and ripoff but reception told us that the hotel was fully booked. When we insisted to speak to the Duty Manager they told us that no one in charge was there (Wednesday 1500 hrs). We left the hotel as all 4 of us felt highly cheated!!! Unfortunately we wasted the rest of the day in finding another accommodation.... Followup: NOW (August17) the webpage shows correct images of the rooms and it does not mention balcony/terrace anymore. But still be aware of the strange design and the non existing views to the museum. When you book "views" it is not worth the money!!!!
Stayed here four years ago and again at recommendation of Guggenheim curator. Subsequently stayed at nh hotel in Buenos Aires. Convenient to museum, to Calatrava bridge, to public transportation. Sleek, modern, not too big, nice river view room, friendly, efficient staff, and fabulous lavish breakfast.
Hotel is in a good location, staff were very friendly & welcoming and the hotel was especially clean. The staff were also knowledgable on the local area. The breakfast has a lot of selection and the staff were quick to serve us.
We stayed here for 4 nights. We had a superior room with a view of the river. These rooms have coloured glass bump-out sun rooms (see what I mean on their website). Our check in was done quickly. We arrived late (had emailed to let them know) and were tired but they were expecting us. The staff spoke English which was appreciated when we were tired. They arranged for a taxi to the train station for our early morning departure too. We had a huge bed which was very comfortable. The room is spacious, clean, has great air conditioning and good black-out drapes. There is a Nespresso type coffee machine and a kettle for tea making. We had breakfast in the dining room and we got a bagged breakfast to go on the morning we left very early. The breakfast options are great and include some pinxtos. Service at breakfast time was always very good. The hotel had little snacks and cold drinks available in the lobby around 5PM when we arrived back after sightseeing. We did eat in the hotel for dinner one evening. The menu was limited to the summer fixed menu but was good value. This hotel is in a quieter part of town but Bilbao is small and it takes no time at all (15 minute walks) to get to the old town, the shopping area, the train or the Guggenheim. I have stayed at this hotel before and like it. I recommend it to others.
This futuristic looking hotel is located just a short walk from the walking bridge to Guggenheim or the city centre. Friendly and professional staff and comfortable rooms with high speed internet available.
My family stayed for one night in July 2017 on our way to San Sebastian. The location is perfect alongside the beautiful river and with a view of the Guggenheim. The room-size and toilets are quite large but it appears a little bit run down. Breakfast was quite good. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Clean, large room on top floor. Modern facilities. Helpful reception staff , able to leave luggage to explore the city. Great location, easy walking distance to old town, city, and Guggenheim museum. Located along banks of the river. Had a run route map which would've used if we hadn't indulged in trying fantastic pintxos and red wine
We really enjoyed our stay in the Ria de Bilbao - great location, friendly staff, spotlessly clean & just the most comfortable bed & excellent bed linen. Would very happily stay there again next time I'm in Bilbao.
Convenient location for the Guggenheim, stylish design, professional but warm and welcoming service, large comfortable bed, faultless really. I'd have preferred a shower to a bath but that isn't a huge problem. Breakfast is a tiny bit expensive.
