The location is amazing. It’s right on the North Bridge and Royal Mile. What was terrible is that the windows in the area where my room was 324 were not at all sound proofed. It was truly as if i were on the street. Every car, bus, truck that passed, every person speaking could be heard. There was a bag piper that played on the street until 1 pm and if he were good i would not have minded but he was terrible and I literally got zero sleep. I could not change rooms because the hotel was fully booked. The servers in the restaurant were pretty terrible but the food was decent. I would not stay here again as the room was the most awful I think I’ve ever stayed in.

Location - excellent. Shopping, restaurants, train station and historical sites within walking

Great location and a beautiful property, also had very nice dinners in the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms were clean and staff was very friendly.

The view feom our room was very nice. It was very close to the train station. The best was the kind service from everyone at the front desk. They got us into our room extra early, directed us to the best way to see the parts of the city for the best value. My husband also appreciated the on site bar. We all enjoyed the breakfasts each day and I was happy to try haggis and black pudding without having to commit to a whole meal of it!

great location, great hotel for the price. We had to wait over 30 minutes at checkin to get a room (and it was after 4:00 pm).

Weather cancellations made train travel impossible on our first day, so we found a hotel in the city where we were stranded (Newcastle). The hotel staff in Newcastle phoned Hilton Edinburgh Carlton so we could tell them of our situation. The agent on the phone made a note that we would not make it that night but would keep trying to get to Edinburgh for the remainder of our reservation. He informed us that the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton was offering guest free hotel stays for the days missed due to the weather. We accepted the offer and said that we would like to use the offer immediately and add a day to the end of our stay. However, when we checked-in in Edinburgh, the first female front desk worker said that it was ridiculous and that no such offer existed. The second female front desk worker confirmed that there was indeed an offer but that I could not use it because I had not contacted the hotel. When I told her that I had called the hotel, she called me a liar. She repeated her assertion that I was a liar every time I insisted that I had called. (Keep in mind that I only accepted an offer from the hotel, I had not asked for anything) After 30 minutes of this debate and her repeated failure to get a manager, she finally read the reservation notes. (That's right, she had never even bothered to read the notes on my reservation that confirmed everything I had said.) Never once did she apologize for her behavior and her repeated accusations and public defamation.

The Hilton Edinburgh Carlton has a wonderful location. Restaurants, shops, the train station, museums, and The Castle are all nearby. We were there during the Festival and the Tattoo, so this lodging was expensive for its amenities and style. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping folks seemed slightly overwhelmed and missed our room the last day. They came later in the afternoon when we were getting ready to go out. Very friendly, but the compromise was to bring us supplies. We were given a "Handicap Accessible" room, which was not optimal for us, but I understand. We had a delightful visit, due to all the wonderful options in Edinburgh!

Dear Rlew, Thanks very much for sharing your feedback with us and raising the issues. Let me apologise for the bad experience in the hotel regarding the noise of the room. Unfortunately, as you were told, we were full and a room move was not possible, otherwise, we could have solved the problem. Rest assured that this will be shared within the appropriate department so we can sort it out. We hope you enjoyed the city nevertheless. Kindest regards,
