Great location and a beautiful property, also had very nice dinners in the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms were clean and staff was very friendly.

The view feom our room was very nice. It was very close to the train station. The best was the kind service from everyone at the front desk. They got us into our room extra early, directed us to the best way to see the parts of the city for the best value. My husband also appreciated the on site bar. We all enjoyed the breakfasts each day and I was happy to try haggis and black pudding without having to commit to a whole meal of it!

great location, great hotel for the price. We had to wait over 30 minutes at checkin to get a room (and it was after 4:00 pm).

Weather cancellations made train travel impossible on our first day, so we found a hotel in the city where we were stranded (Newcastle). The hotel staff in Newcastle phoned Hilton Edinburgh Carlton so we could tell them of our situation. The agent on the phone made a note that we would not make it that night but would keep trying to get to Edinburgh for the remainder of our reservation. He informed us that the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton was offering guest free hotel stays for the days missed due to the weather. We accepted the offer and said that we would like to use the offer immediately and add a day to the end of our stay. However, when we checked-in in Edinburgh, the first female front desk worker said that it was ridiculous and that no such offer existed. The second female front desk worker confirmed that there was indeed an offer but that I could not use it because I had not contacted the hotel. When I told her that I had called the hotel, she called me a liar. She repeated her assertion that I was a liar every time I insisted that I had called. (Keep in mind that I only accepted an offer from the hotel, I had not asked for anything) After 30 minutes of this debate and her repeated failure to get a manager, she finally read the reservation notes. (That's right, she had never even bothered to read the notes on my reservation that confirmed everything I had said.) Never once did she apologize for her behavior and her repeated accusations and public defamation.

The Hilton Edinburgh Carlton has a wonderful location. Restaurants, shops, the train station, museums, and The Castle are all nearby. We were there during the Festival and the Tattoo, so this lodging was expensive for its amenities and style. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping folks seemed slightly overwhelmed and missed our room the last day. They came later in the afternoon when we were getting ready to go out. Very friendly, but the compromise was to bring us supplies. We were given a "Handicap Accessible" room, which was not optimal for us, but I understand. We had a delightful visit, due to all the wonderful options in Edinburgh!

Let me start by saying the hotel was very clean and is located close to everything. We opted to get the breakfast included and it didn't dissappoint. However we felt the room was small and noise carries. There was a party until 1am, one of the nights we stayed and you could hear the music playing loudly from our room a few floors up. When we called the front desk they said there shouldn't be any issues since we shouldn't hear anything on our floor. His lack of empathy was a little disappointing, maybe he was having a bad night. The rest of the hotel staff were very nice.

Location was great and the front desk was super! The room was comfortable, but the cleaning staff did not restock coffee supplies or fresh towels.

This hotel recently underwent a major renovation and it was well worth it! The hotel is lovely. It also is conveniently located within walking distance to many of the local sites and shopping areas. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a King suite, too. It was a bit chilly in the room (thermostat is centrally controlled, not by the thermostat on the wall) but I was immediately given the option of relocating to another room or a space heater. Since I loved my room, I chose the space heater instead. I had a nice nightcap in the lounge which was comfortable. Truly enjoyed my 4 day stay here.

The Hilton Carlton is located very close to the Royal Mile so is perfect for tourists who are planning to see the castle and museums. It is on a busy road, but the room was quiet, the bed very comfortable, the bath attractive with contemporary details. All was very clean. We had a couple of drinks at the bar where the staff was friendly and helpful. The building is large and I like to use stairs when I can and at one point found myself quite lost in an area that was being renovated. But a staff member came along and directed me in the right direction. It would have been nice if the Market St. exit had been open (closed for renovations) as it would have made our walk to the Tram on the morning we departed a little easier.

Great weekend in a great city - very walkable to everywhere from here

Undergoing renovation. Clean. Good walking distance to most areas.

Dear W Val, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay. I'm happy to hear that our front desk team looked after you well and that you found your guest room to be comfortable. Please accept my apologies however, for the lapse in our housekeeping. This is not the usual high standards are guests are accustomed to so we will be reviewing this with our housekeeping manager. I do hope that we will have the opportunity to be of service to you again. Warm regards, Jordan Inglis Guest Relations Manager
