It's not a 5-star hotel, obviously, but I will give it a 5-star rating! Dumas is a little out of the way for us, but the hotel choices make it worthwhile. The room was very spacious and clean. Our boys enjoyed the indoor pool, the breakfast and the work out facility. We have recently switched from Hampton Inns and this Holiday Inn did not disappoint.
We booked a double queen suite. Found a hand towel with dried bloody snot all over it. Brought it to the front desk. Girl apologized profusely and said to let her know if we have any other problems. Requested new towels and went back to the room. Inspected things more closely. Discovered a second hand towel with clear snot dried all over it, a dirty sock next to the bed, and wrinkled pillowcases, as if the linens had not been changed. Brought those items to the front desk. Was told we can switch rooms and get an upgrade. Took the hungry kids out to dinner before switching rooms. Got back and discovered that there was no upgrade because we were already in a suite. Still switched rooms, however, since the first one obviously was not clean. Got to the new room, inspected linens and towels, and let the exhausted kids go to sleep. Took a shower. Reached up to draw the shower curtain back and grabbed someone else's used dirty washrags that were still draped over the curtain rod! The girls kept the dirty items at the desk so that the manager could see them, but I never received a call and still paid full price. Just stay at the Hampton Inn next door. I wish we had.
The property was nice, clean, and well presented. Staff was friendly and efficient as well. Breakfast was what I have come to expect at such places. Ample parking and easy in and out access. The only problem we had was we left behind an Under Armour shirt and Nike shorts by accident. After several calls, it was determined they were not going to be recovered. It was our fault, we left the items. However, we did not leave them in the trash nor were they in a public area. I’m not surprised the good stuff never finds its way to the lost and found box. Other than that, if you like HIE, you won’t be disappointed or surprised with this location.
The Holiday Inn Express in Dumas, Texas was very clean, convenient and had very friendly and helpful staff. the bed was very comfortable. They were booked up and maxed out that night but still treated us very friendly.
While the room was clean and Large. The people were courteous, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast had many selections and was good We had what I would call a bad situation.. There were heavy drapes covering only 20" on each side with shears in the middle. I phoned the front desk and ask if the window was one way glass. I was told that she didn't know and would need to make a call. She returned my call and said no one could see through the window. The next morning when we were loading our car my husband & I noticed that we could see the curtains. So it was not one way glass. During the evening there was a bad hail storm. I was in my gown and peaked out several times to see the size of the hail. I had been told no one could see through the window. I went directly to the front desk and reported what I was told and stated that I didn't appreciate being lied too. We are Diamond Members. I didn't appreciate being seen in my gown on several occasions.. I was told not one way glass. but no one could see into the room. I told her that I was looking out to see how large the hail was in my gown and everyone out side could see me.
Heading home and stopped overnight at this HIE. Its right next door to another popular hotel chain but we elect to pay a bit more here for one main reason. I like two queen beds in a suite and this hotel offers that option. Breakfast is always good at HIE and the staff can not help the four older matrons who pushed two tables together and visited all morning long completely oblivious to the fact that they were occupying chairs and tables for eight persons, several who were looking for a place to sit and eat breakfast. My feeling is that when this happens, after an appropriate time, the staff should suggest that the hen party move out to the lobby to continue their visit. With this one glitch excepted, it was a nice stay and we will come again.
We stayed here as we were returning from Colorado. Very friendly front desk people and clean and nicely maintained. Got a good night's sleep with no disturbances. Great bedding, great shower pressure! (Two of my most important requirements to ever stay again)
Very nice, clean hotel on the way to stop and rest. Everyone slept well and breakfast was very good. We recommend! There isn't a lot to do in Dumas, but the hotel was a pleasant surprise as the half way point along our journey. Much nicer rooms at a more reasonable price than Amarillo.
Theresa and Samantha were very accommodating. From the time we walked into the hotel to check in to the time we checked out, someone at the front desk was there to ensure we had everything necessary to enjoy our stay! The hotel is very clean, a perfect stop on the way to or from Colorado, and EXTREMELY kid friendly! We will be back again.
Thought this would be a good place to stay the night while on our way to our vacation destination. WRONG! First off, we could here the conversation in the next door room as if there were only tissue paper for walls. The TV refused to change channels, well it would after waiting 5-10 minutes after pushing the buttons. The bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. Breakfast was barely edible. Hardly even warm, scrambled egg pan was empty and stayed that way for some time & the pan cake server was out of order. Juice was very watered down. But on the plus side the coffee was good. Should have stayed where we have always had good luck, next door at Hampton Inn. Sure wish we would have.
