We knew it was a historical property and did not expect all the bright and shiny modern bells & whistles. It was clean, the breakfast good, quite room and the service excellent. A fun experience.
It was great for the price. Quieter than a hotel. The property is just not being maintained. Packing tape over seams of wallpaper on my room. Room appeared clean accept for bathroom ceiling fan, which I only noticed because fan noise was loud. The ironing board and a small box with potpourri was stained and should be removed from the room. Just gross. Beautiful furniture, firm bed, and great breakfast. I felt safe and like I was staying at my favorite Aunt and Uncle’s house that was once grand but they need to do some maintenance to bring back up to expectations since it isn’t a free stay.
There was a bat in the room flying around. Next morning all the owner had to say was sorry
The Redstone Inn is a beautiful historic mansion in downtown Dubuque, IA. The Inn was clean, but you could tell there was some upkeep that needed to happen. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the bathroom vent fan in our room didn't work (which could be attributing to the peeling) and the TV wasn't hooked up to the Internet, so we couldn't watch anything. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
The beauty of the place is amazing. The food served for breakfast was fresh cooked & heavenly. The a.c. in this old building was exceptional. A little wear is showing in wallpaper, etc. The shower was unexpectedly good. Great privacy. Not handicap accessible
Everything was clean inside. The outside scaffolding made it look bad from outside due to remodeling. The towels and wash clothes were used and dingy looking. I would rather being my own towels. Other than that, the stay was wonderful
Everything was fine. Well worth staying. Would recommend for anyone.
Inn keeper , Robert, has an interesting story he tells about the history of the mansion
Close to downtown and restaurants. Owner was very gracious and eager to please.
It was a very nice and comfortable stay. Will be back
Charming inn with an excellent breakfast. The building is a little shabby around the edges (there was some extensive past water damage around most of the windows in our room), but the staff was pleasant, the decor was charming, and the breakfast was delicious (including the coffee).
Of course it feels old cause it Is. The Fourier/lobby felt very comfortable and inviting. As you go down the halls you lose some of the charm and just see the repairs that desperately need done, wallpaper falling off the walls or being held up with pushpins, drywall cracking and falling down and overall easy esthetic repairs that could take this place from feeling dirty and outdated to charming and whimsical. We didn't spent a lot of time at the hotel but there was nothing there that made us want to either.
The Redstone Inn is a beautiful 12000 square foot private home with a lengthy history. The outside is a bit deceiving, as the signs are faded and the doors are in need of refinishing. Once inside, the beauty of this grand building is evident everywhere you look...the stained glass, the antiques, the fretwork and mouldings, the original pocket doors...amazing. Unfortunately she is showing her age as some painting needs to be touched up and there are countless areas showing water damage. Our 3 room suite was lovely with a fireplace, sitting room and even a Jacuzzi tub big enough for two!! The owner/host is quite friendly and the hot morning breakfast is quite nice.
