Great location, extremely helpful and kind staff.
I chose the Shelbourne Hotel because of its famous Horseshoe Bar and the interesting 1824 Bar. These unique establishments were recommended by friends and heavily pushed as places to frequent by the hotel’s advertising. However, they were both closed because business was slow. I explicitly asked staff about the hours of the Horseshoe Bar, only to find out they were wrong; this happened on two separate days; I then found out from the concierge that it was actually closed all week. However, the hotel website continued to advertise the bars, with no mention of their closures. When I asked hotel management about checking out early so I could go to another, less expensive hotel, I was told that would be difficult as I had prepaid through Orbitz. I spoke to two different managers about a reduction in my hotel rate, and was informed they would have to check with “higher ups,” and that someone would get back to me. But no one ever did. The Shelbourne is a very expensive hotel. It was not worth the money. Facilities were closed to save the hotel money with no thought of customer impact. It was a bait and switch. Communication was poor or useless. The hotel seemed more interested in catering to special business group functions (who were given access to the 1824 Bar) than to the normal hotel guest. The Ascendancy lives on at the Shelbourne.
Very pretty hotel. Nice location. No on site ATM. CABS do not accept credit cards
Our favorite hotel in Dublin, with a great location and wonderful staff. However, traveling off season, specifically for our honeymoon (as mentioned to them) with no extra amenities, room upgrades, or services somewhat diminished an otherwise excellent experience. The other locations we stayed at on our trip definitely went above and beyond, and the lack of this experience at The Shelbourne was our only negative.
Beautiful historic hotel with great service. I would highly recommend.
Excellent staff, service, facilities, and location.
Amazing experience...will do so again when in Dublin!
Beautiful hotel in a Great location! Friendly staff everyone was delightful.
4 days and nights of excellent service, comfort and enjoyment. Ideal hotel for our short vacation.
Beautiful great location, food staff service excellent, rooms super clean
Second time in two years we have stayed here, looked forward to staying here the second time based on our first stay and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back. Thank You Francis @ Kathleen Murphy Ingleside Ill.
I love this hotel! Comfortable bed, updated rooms, restful decor, complimentary newspaper, turn down service with chocolate, great bar, VERY ACCOMMODATING STAFF, THE BEST NAVIGATOR, a perfect hotel. It doesn't get better!!!
Great staff and room (with balcony) was biggest I ever saw in Europe. Nice location too.
We decided to splurge on our last couple of days in Ireland and stay at the Shelbourne. I am so glad we did. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is courteous and extremely helpful. The food is the Saddle Room was outstanding. Given the chance, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! Now if only I can get the recipe for the sweet potato soup with red pepper garnish. It was the best soup I've ever had!
Elegant hotel with friendly and helpful staff, and they have a great breakfast
