The Royal Marine Hotel

This is a gorgeous hotel located a 20 min train ride from Dublin. All the workers were so kind, but we did have difficulty understanding how dinner worked. In the hotel booklet it said there were three places to eat at the hotel with three different menus. We found two and with difficulty. Also, there was an exceptionally robust table with kids throwing cars and socks around. The staff ignored them and never asked them to stop throwing things. A sock literally landed on my husband's chair. Not necessarily the fault of the staff, but a manager should have said something. Someone easily could have fallen on a toy car (we moved one out of the way as did a waiter). Food was good and hotel was clean.

Great spot a couple miles out of Dublin. Decent rooms and accomodating staff.

Hotel was nice witha spa and several restaurants. Less than 5 minute walk to train station, which will take you to downtown Dublin. Only complaint was weak wifi connection in the room.

I was there a month ago with my daughter and we were very disappoint. We arrived and the front desk were not cordial at all, our rooms were not ready, and the stuff was not friendly. The hotel is outdated, not well maintain. NOT worthy.

We stayed here for five nights during late October and it was a great hotel! It had one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on. We went to a fancy hotel in Switzerland next in our journey and that bed paled in comparison. We were here during the shoulder season of tourism, so I don't know what it would be like in the high season, but we found it to be very quiet and peaceful. It's a non-smoking hotel, which is one of the reasons I picked it. Great value, and we will definitely go back.

There's an ease dealing with free parking and slipping in and out without hassle. Free wifi, and comfy beds. Room lighting is a bit dim; particularly if you have an interior room. I blew it and didn't take the sea view. The grandeur of the place seems a bit tired in public places, but then I also saw them painting, so they might be upgrading a bit. Pleasant enough staff at the desk, but missed the old days when an Irish lit and smile would greet you for those of us tourists Breakfasts were a bit pricey if you didn't use a voucher, and if a bus tour was in, it didn't make for the most relaxing morning. An alternative was the Harry's Bar (?) around the corner for local cafe hangout.

I chose the Royal Marine as I was catching the ferry to Holyhead the following day. Nice hotel, with a nostalgic feel. Great location. Overall nice place.

Loved the hotel. Close to the train easy access to all coastal villages. Feels very elegant. Staff very helpful.

Fist mistake was booking it all on Orb .We had to wait till 6 pm for our rooms after an overnight flight . The suite packge was a joke . Our room was smaller and 3 times the price of a single that my mom stayed in (she booked on the hotel website) I was shouted at by breakfast staff and ridiculed by the front desk help .We were charged for breakfasts we did'nt have . This is a destination hotel for parties and weddings and not at all child friendly . What is really sad about this hotel is that some staff are really helpful and nice and others are just rude .

The hotel is in a nice quite little town just outside inner city Dublin with a nice amount of shopping just up the street. The drive was short to Dublin and located in a great place as you get the city feel without the hassle of being in the city. Hotel staff is nice and friendly. Parking is free, just make sure to ask the hotel staff for a ticket to get out of the garage so you don't have to pay. The rooms were clean and neat. The food was a little pricey and frankly, not that great for the value. My only complaint about this is that this travel site doesn't mention that some of the amenities are extra. Please be aware that use of the pool and fitness centers come with daily fees and they aren't that cheap. Also, we traveled with someone who couldn't walk long distances so please be aware that although doable, it's not the most handicap friendly hotel. Overall though, great value for the money.

we had a fantastic time. will definitely recommend it. so accessible to everything.thought it was great value.

On our first trip to Ireland, we stayed at the Royal Marine Hotel for 9 nights. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed or wanted. We had a view of the Harbor, exceptionally comfortable beds, a small fridge, TV, a hot pot for instant coffee or tea, a safe for our passports and other valuables, a small sitting area with a table for planning and late night snacks and a well-appointed bathroom. The staff was wonderful - very helpful, kind and patient. Although we didn't end up making use of the pool, we did look at it and it was very appealing - we just filled our days doing other things. Located just a few miles from center-city Dublin, the Royal Marine's front steps are a stop for the Air Coach which we took from the airport terminal right to the hotel and back again. Area restaurants were exceptional; and driving in Dun Laoghaire was easy. We used our hotel as the base from which to drive to much of southern and western Ireland and wouldn't change a thing. We're already planning a return trip and just got back two days ago. Can't say enough nice things about the Royal Marine hotel and staff!

great location next to shopping center, all transport

great staff, good facilities, close to all you could want

The hotel is very old and majestic. With a warm welcome from staff we couldn't wait to just relax and that's exactly what we did! Our long travels to Dublin were met with just the comfort we were looking for. The next morning we enjoyed the traditional Irish breakfast and we were offered a discount for being a guest of the RMH. The town of Dun Laoghaire is quaint and cute with nice restaurants and places to shop and they have a Dart station not far from the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay in Dublin. Our hotel was SUPER. The staff was always willing to assist or help with information and suggestions of things we might enjoy seeing. We will reccomend it to family and friends.

Nice hotel. Somewhat quiet town. My view wasn't great but the price was. Try Hartley's restaurant by the water. Very good

I stayed at The Royal Marine for 9 days . The location was great the subway station was 5 minutes away . The staff at this hotel is fabulous . The food was very good and the room was comfortable . It is an old hotel but you get the feel of old europe. I will stay here again when I return to ireland.

Everyone was very friendly and helpfull. Our room did not have a view but we could go out the front door and watch the harbor. The Dart (a train) can take you right into Dublin in a matter of minutes and you catch it right at the Harbor. Shopping just a couple of min. walk away. This was a great first visit to Ireland.

Hotel is beautiful. Off season price thru Obitz was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. Upgrade to seaview if you can! 9 night stay. Beds are really comfy. Fridge in room is nice. Had one bad night - wind was 40 mph and piece of siding outside room rattled & sounded like a lawn mower outside our window all night. Also room would not heat up that night. We got no sleep that one night. Hotel was full and and staff was appologetic. They moved us the next day to an even more beautiful room. Close to train and to town. We really enjoyed our stay.
