I stayed at the Kingswood Hotel for four nights and the rooms are good for the price. The bathtub/shower is very small and they give you those tiny soap bars that are only good to use once or twice. Housekeeping tends to run very late so each day I arrived back from work to a dirty room. Whenever I requested for my room to be cleaned as soon as possible it didn't get done until hours later. Looking out my windows, all I saw was a brick wall. There is nothing close to the hotel so if you want anything outside of the hotel, you have to drive or take a taxi. The front desk is excellent and very helpful. Their restaurant is McGettigans Cookhouse & Bar and is EXCELLENT! Everything I've tried on the menu was excellent and they offer a large variety of spirits in their elegant bar. They cater to all of the conference rooms and the restaurant staff is also excellent. Helen was absolutely wonderful and would go out of her way to make sure you had everything you needed/requested. YES, I would stay here again if anything, for McGettigans Cookhouse & Bar.
Stayed at the Kingswood for 3 nights in April with my family. The hotel is very clean, staff very friendly. Our room faced the motorway which was terrible...it was very noisey all night...so when booking make sure your on the opposite side! the room also had no ventilation at all so the room felt like a sauna. Beds were not very comfy as well pillows to firm.. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant "McGettigans Cookhouse", the decor is really nice.. lunch was great as well as food but dinner was a disaster!!!! We had our starters and then waited 1.5hours for our main...and during that entire time no one came to say "sorry the kitchen is backed up..whatever" no followup and trying to make eye contact with wait staff was a nighmare, have to say the stay was no very good at their jobs. Finally my husband complained to our waiter and the manager came over but all he said was "sorry" very poor customer service. I would have to say that I probably would not stay here again.
Myself and my partner stayed here in March last and we couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and professional especially the reception staff. We eat in The Cookhouse on both nights it was fabulous a perfect spot for a special occasion with the family. The bedrooms were spotless with everything you need and everything worked which is always a bonus. Will definitely be back
Enjoyed four nights at this lovely hotel while attending a dance competition. Rooms were clean and comfortable ,although the pillows were a little too firm. The staff was very friendly . The breakfast was hot and fresh and had a good selection of food. We even left an item behind and the staff was very helpful and posted our item in the mail right away!
Set very close to the motorway I was surprised to find the hotel didn't have noise from the road outside. Rooms are tastefully decorated and beds extremely comfortable. Staff pleasant and helpful . We had dinner one night and Room Service from McGettigan's which is attached to the hotel and the food was beautiful. The only thing about this hotel was the fact that there were children playing outside in the decking until quite late and they were noisy - especially as we tried to get an early night but this can't be helped but would hope it would be monitored by staff.
We stayed at the KingsWood hotel for a dancing competition happening near by. It is very comfortable and clean. The room was perfect with a double and single bed. The hotel was nice and quiet and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
This is a clean and bright hotel. The staff are extreamly helpful and friendly. We were staying with our baby and everyone done everything they could to help. Breakfast was a little disappointing, it was fine but basic. Staff seemed to be unsure of things. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant also, it was good, handy and nice menu. Getting to the hotel was confusing as the exit sign off the motorway is after the exit. Overall it met our needs for the night.
Ok probably best to split this review into 2. Hotel and Restaurant. So the rooms are a decent size. Some of the fittings are showing signs of their age. Trouse press and ironing board in each room. Handy if you only brought a flight bag. Bathrooms are clean / very clean. Now my personal hate showers in the bath and shower curtains! I am tall and ducking under the shower head is a pain. I have not met anyone yet who likes the cold damp clingy embrace of a shower curtain. The rooms have been warm enough this spring but opening the window reminds you the hotel is right next to the N7. In summer this may be an issue. The breakfast (served just off reception) is a mix of normal hot and cold. Plenty of staff buzzing around for tea/ coffee. Also if you ask they will do you poached eggs if that you thing. Dinner is served in McGettigans Restaurant just outside the main hotel entrance watch out for the steps and ramp in the wet! The service is good and even it it goes wrong they try relay hard to make up for it. One evening my main did not arrive with the others, I was offerd a free drink and a extra starter to keep me going. The food on offer covers most of the grill options and handmade pizza there are also sheff specials every day. Nothing to spicy but we'll cooked and presented. As for value for money it feels a bit expensive relative to the hotel and location to me. Should mention the secure underground parking. Getting out of the car in the dry and not having to de ice the hire car ( why is there never a scraper in hire cars) is a bonus. Overall a sold safe reliable places to stay.
We are just back from a brilliant 2 days away in this hotel. From check in everything was fantastic. Altina (apologies for spelling) on reception is lovely and explained everything perfectly. She always had a word every time we passed by and always spoke to our 2 daughters. Laura the operations manager is also brilliant and lovely. Brought up some biscuits for the girls to the room when we asked her for milk. Breakfast on both mornings was delicious and had lots of choice. We ate in McGettigans Cookhouse on the second night and the food was top class. Our daughters had pizza and chicken goujans. Pizza on its own would have been plenty it was huge and my 18 month old in particular loved it. My partner and myself shared the spicy wings and she had the salmon and I had the burger. Delicious, big portions and not badly priced either. Our waitress Helen was very attentive and chatted away to our 2 girls. All in all we had a ball. The kids loved it and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you to all the staff.
Stephen in McGettigans restaurant, part of the Kingswood hotel, went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The food was tasty and there's a lovely atmosphere. Excellent service, would highly recommend it!
