Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Detroit - Utica

The room has new Wood floors, half inch opening under door allow all hallway noise to interrupt sleep. Other customers roamed the floors well past 1:00 am and you might as well have been standing next to them.

Renovations ongoing make it noisy and dusty. The rooms are good. The bathroom is terrible. Tiny toilets not suitable for adult male use. Bring a donut. Breakfast plentiful if quality of meat and fake egg omelettes are ignored.

Stayed at the Hyatt for two nights but forgot to book another night. Had to move to the Holiday Inn. For starters my room was 175 for a "5" person room. The hotel staff seemed miserable compared to The Hyatt staff. Almost bitter anger when you asked questions. They had no pantry option. The fold out had a ripped stained cover and the linens were jammed in the bag in a closet. There was no bed spread. The roll out had to be put in the entry way because there was no room for it. The room had a kitchen like setup with no silverware or soap. Signs everywhere said they do not replace towels everyday. 4th floor hallways were like walking through a sauna. No vending machines on 4th, 3rd had a Pepsi machine, 2nd floor looked like a horror movie, and the first floor vending machine stole my money. Phone in room had a pizza and restaurant button that did not work. Fitness room and pool looked okay.

We were made to feel welcome right when we walked through the door. We were chosen as Guess of the Day! The 4th floor rooms have been redecorated and are very sharp looking. I think they are still working on the other floors. A lot of room for the luggage and a nice new TV. My son loved that the hotel was next door to Dave and Busters and had a pool!

Where to begin? The hotel is apparently undergoing a complete renovation but that won't save it. Stayed 4 nights with a large group and not a single nice thing to say about this dump. Toilets run, water pressure lousy, 2 inches of water in the tub when you take a shower, cold/hot water valve loose, get the picture. The collective opinion of the group is that the rooms were dirty and the hospitality not very hospitable. If you choose to ignore my advice make sure you put the shhhh sign on the door - on numerous days I saw housekeeping banging on doors before 8 AM. Four floors and only one elevator makes getting up and down a pain in the neck. There are at least 4 hotels in walking distance to one another, choose one of the other ones or you will definitely be sorry! I don't like writing negative reviews but honesty is the best policy.

I was really disappointed with this hotel. It was low end, even for a Holiday Inn. There were many problems including...poor wifi connectivity, murky pool water, low quality breakfast options, soft spots in the hallway floors, out dated room furniture, poor quality beds and linens. This hotel is in need of a complete renovation. It is conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. It also has a fridge and microwave in every room. But the Hyatt across the street is far superior quality. There are also a number of other hotels in the area that are much better than this one.

We just stayed overnight, but we really enjoyed this hotel. Our room on the 4th floor was of ample size and had a microwave and small fridge, which we great. The bed was king and soft. The pool was excellent - quite warm and not crowded! The breakfast the following morning was great as well - omelet, pancakes and other breakfast foods. USA Today paper included and the rate was great. Not too busy.

The hotel is not bad or anything but every time I would step in the bathroom the floor it would have ants all over. I was very disappointed. Other then the ant problem in the bathroom the hotel is a nice place and the staff is friendly. My girlfriend was just very upset seeing ants every time and having to kill them. It's not a bad hotel but this visit was very disappointing.

We were on our way home from Cleveland clinic we were very tired from a day of medical appointments so we made a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express Utica. Every one that we came in contact with at this hotel were wonderful they went beyond the call of duty to make are stay great The staff is very professional. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Just another good stay at a typical good Holiday Inn Express. We got an upgraded room and it was very nice. Clean comfortable bed, very roomy, fridge, bar sink, and microwave. No issues with noise between rooms but a few loud females out in the hall that were a bit noisy when they returned but hey, it was a Saturday night and it soon quieted down. The staff were great and really just a good place to stay at a good price. I would recommend. Typical good HIX breakfast but boy do I every wish Holiday Inn would get rid of the biscuits and gravy as an option for breakfast. Easy on and off highway. Only complaint was there was a bit of a unevenness in the floor (under the carpet) by the ice machine and elevator that needs to be fixed. It can be dangerous.
