The Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City remains the largest airport in the country, approximately a 30-minute drive from the Belize City centre, and is the gateway to this nation’s coastline and forests, handling most flights to Belize. Its major airlines include Atlantic Airlines, American Airlines, Maya Island Air, and Tropic Air. Duty Free shops are available at BZE as well as interesting knick-knacks with a Mayan flavor—collectible souvenirs. The Sun Garden restaurant serves up made-to-order food akin to the cuisine of the area, perfect for acquainting passengers’ palettes to Central American food. Rental cars can be reserved before Belize flights land, making the trip to your destination smooth, fast, and safe.
Belize is a small country in eastern Central America on the Caribbean Sea, and has a climate which can be regarded as tropical to sub-tropical. Belize is warm all year round and has two main seasons. The dry season is from December to May and is the most popular time for flights to Belize, while the wet season is from June to November. Rainfall varies across Belize and is mostly dependent on the elevation of the particular location. If you plan on flying to Belize during the wet season, pack a raincoat. You might find better deals and low cost air fare during this season as well.
Belize is a small country, making a land-spanning journey easy and fun. Transport is plentiful and relatively frequent, and any visitor coming from Belize flights has several options to consider. Water taxis are available between certain cities and private buses are numerous. Car travel is a little on the expensive side but you will find maximum flexibility for your budget, and the roads in Belize are maintained rather well. For the more adventurous, it is possible to hire a bicycle for short distances to skip past all the unlucky people sitting in traffic honking their horns.
Belize’s rich history makes for some spectacular hikes and guided tours, with relics from the age of the Mayans, the eighteenth century, and the old colonial days. For those scheduling Belize flights, make room on your itinerary for all the excitement.
