Loved this resort! Very clean rooms and the property was pristine! The staff was absolutely wonderful! The views of the morning sunrise were amazing! The pool was small but refreshing. No beach but you can use the beach next door. The only downside was that the breakfast could have been better. It was just bread, fruit, coffee and orange juice.
Property was nicely kept and the staff was very accommodating.
Internet was non existent. It was .6 Mbps ( that’s point six). Breakfast was bread and coffee. The smell from the sea grass was horrific. The room was old and tired. Would never return.
The staff was great, very helpful and fun to talk to. The location was good and the facility was very nice. Would stay again!
The hotel staff was readily available and on site. The hotel provided free bike rental which was nice to bike in town which was still relatively close even if you walked. The decl area has a nice white and blue appeal perfect for relaxing. The hotel also books tours and has a dock to be picked up from to do sea adventures. There are a lot restaurant and shops near by. The staff was friendly and helpful and timely when it came to cleaning the rooms. Wi-Fi was available throughout the premises and reliable.
Great hotel right on the beach. Staff was attentive and friendly. Visited on a short business trip and would definitely return for time with spouse. Ambergris Caye is a must visit. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (no bites at all). PROS: Excellent location, small resort (quiet and individualized attention), good continental breakfast, upgrade to balcony room (beautiful views) CONS: None, but the unfortunate result of climate change is uprooted seagrass on the shore. Resort works diligently to keep it managed.
The staff and manager were exceptional. The resort is very nice.
Lucked into a beautiful hotel on the beach (nice find). Conveniently located near several local restaurants, a bakery, and a grocery store. The staff is excellent. Elliot, the manager coordinated everything we wanted to do, including snorkeling and a visit to the Mayan Ruins, Enrique, the bartender, is the defacto concierge letting us know everything that's available in San Pedro and Ambergris Caye. Housekeeping kept our room spotless. The rooms are standard size with basic amenities. US cable channels. Fresh fruit for breakfast daily.
Wonderful service, beautiful east-facing views from each room. It seemed all of the units had amazing views of the carribean. Private small beach for relaxing. Guests aboard boats that picked me up for excursions at the private dock would comment on how clutch the location of this hotel is. Mata Rocks is also very clean, well-appointed and well-designed. Thanks to the staff who made everything relaxed and seamless as I expected.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mata Rocks. It's about a mile south of downtown San Pedro, but still within walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. A cab to the hotel from downtown is about $5-$10 US depending on time of day. The hotel is pretty basic, but it does the job. The staff was great and very accommodating. They helped us arrange a snorkel trip and they picked us up at the hotel's dock. The hotel has bikes for use during the day, but I wish they were available until later at night. You have to return them by 6. There are two mom and pop restaurants across the street that offer great, local Belizean food for very cheap. We were there during the last week of September which is still low season and it was a bit slow. Some restaurants in town were closed, but there was enough to do that it didn't make a difference. We will definitely be back to Mata Rocks and San Pedro.
I called the hotel one week in advance to confirm my reservations and pick up services being that this was my first time in belize. Agent said "we provide free cab just take any cab they will bring you to hotel" I said that's it, that simple. When I get to belize city airport they advised me at the airport that you have to take a $25US cab to the boat terminal, take a 90 minute boat ride (not free), then take a free cab to hotel. Once we arrive to the hotel, room was clean. Beach is not clean, they let the garbage and seaweed build up. Some of the staff were rude and not friendly. Not a lot of restaurants more like 2 little houses across the street, one of them not so friendly and the other lady with the jerk chicken SUPER FRIENDLY. Cab drivers are friendly, helpful and super talkative. I felt unsafe when walking around. I was supposed to stay for 5 days, I left after 2 days.
