Enjoyed our stay at the Hallmark Hotel rooms a bit tired but very clean and roomy evening meal was lovely breakfast OK not a lover of buffet breakfast it is very central a great location would recommend

This hotel is a few strides away from the railway station. As users of public transport this is ideal for us. It is also very close to bars and restaurants in the city centre. So whichever board basis you choose, the hotel will fit the bill. Our room was fairly basic but had everything needed for a short break. The price was extremely attractive. I am visually impaired and would have preferred brighter lighting, but most people would probably not even notice. I also prefer a bar of soap to shower gel etc. but I'm showing my age. If we had been stopping longer than two nights, I would have asked for soap. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food, but the menu looked good enough with typical hotel prices.

Got caught in the snow so couldn't get to our planned destination, we were very disappointed to say the least, however we managed to get a room in the hallmark. From the moment we entered the property it felt warm and welcoming that feeling did not leave us throughout our stay the receptionist was extremely sympathetic and accommodating our room was comfortable warm and most of all spotless which was also maintained during our stay, we dined in the restaurant which although busy was lovely the staff were great the atmosphere was warming and the food was great. My advice to anyone considering this hotel is to give it a go we were very pleasantly surprised.the staff make this hotel what it is which in our opinions is excellent

We got a great bed and breakfast deal at this hotel which is very centrally placed for exploring Carlisle, however it was quite a strange experience. Our small bedroom was on the third floor of this old Victorian hotel was painted a weird dull yellow - which turned out to be the colour throughout the whole of the building, which is desperately in need of a refurbish. Room service trays were left on the floor of the corridor, as were bags of rubbish. We dined there the first evening and the young staff, whilst trying to be helpful were woefully under trained and out of their depth. The food was of a reasonable standard, but the breakfast cutlery and crockery did not look terribly clean. My feeling is they are understaffed and that shows in their ability to deliver. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but had we paid full price I would have complained more.

I was given one of the refurbished rooms on the second floor 203. The bed was comfortable but the room was quite dated as was the bathroom. The seat was at an angle from the toilet and there was no toiletries and the bath towel was hard. Missing items can happen but no excuse for towels that may have been old or hung to dry rather than laundered. By biggest issue was the noise from the club until 3am which must have been directly at the side of my room. Added to this the bottles were put out around midnight and these things did not lead to a comfortable sleep. I did complain when checking out and said that visitors should be made aware of a Friday and Saturday night. The cost of £90 without breakfast I found excessive for the room and stay.

Visited the Hallmark to attend a work training course for 2 days. The hotel is a little tired and could do with some new fixtures and fittings (furniture in room was old, bed had a rip in the base, toilet bowl was cracked, restaurant wall was scorched from the toaster). Apart from those minor issues it was a pleasure to stay at the hotel. The staff were like lovely, attentive and always helpful. The hotel is in a prime location next door to the train station and right in the centre of town close to all amenities. The hotel breakfast was okay but could have been a little hotter and possibly offered a bit more choice of cereals etc, however the evening meals were very nice and I could not fault them. Overall a pleasant stay!

The location of hotel to the station is a mere 30 steps, I counted! Staff are very obliging and a cheerful , beds very comfortable and plenty of hot water. Rooms are clean and tidy and food is tasty with a varied menu.

Great location right next to pubs and restaurants. Really easy booking system thanks to Jesse Gray who was fantastic. Really enjoyed breakfast next morning too will be returning. There is hotel parking however there’s a £10 charge for overnight. Really nice bar which stayed open late and staff there very friendly.

Brilliant time there excellent memories made we will definitely visit again and again 😀well done to everyone far too many to name but the staff are lovely from the lady pushing her laundry to the management team lovely bunch

Hotel and staff were excellent. Just some parts of the hotel are a little bit exhausted looking that was trivial. Where hotel is is in an ideal area just out of train station a d your straight into hotel
