Booked 2 doubles on Saturday night, was a great trip. The bar and reception staff couldn't have been friendlier. Welcoming and friendly, and the hotel is in a superb location. Would definitely reccommend.
I am currently staying in the hotel, we arrived yesterday. The parking was a bit of farce but got resolved in the end. On arrival ( we were early ) the room was not ready but the girl behind the desk looked after our luggage and filled in all our paperwork. When we returned the guy was on reception was very joyful and was particularly attentive to our son, giving him cake and wishing him a happy birthday. The room was a little dated, but still a very good price that we paid. Breakfast was lovely and really set us up for the day. Again the staff were ever so kind. After long day sight seeing and shopping we returned to the same gent on reception, who again was ever so helpful. Again giving coloring books and balloons to our son and calling him by his name which was a lovely touch. The hotel can be quite loud, but i guess with its location near the bars it is to be expected. I would definitely return but possibly during the week.
Not a bad hotel, a little bit dated now, larger is very expensive and the reception staff are not as effect as they could be. Set menu looked reasonable until you look at the additional bit then it becomes expensive. Good central location
For me the bathroom is pretty important. It's where I bare myself to the elements and I felt there were some pretty worrying elements here. Friendly and helpful can go a long way towards making a poor hotel ok or a ok place great. Here the staff are fantastic, service is great even the beer is not as expensive as it could be. The thing that lets the Hallmark hotel down is the bathroom: mould, broken tiles rotting and broken boxing and the state of the windows. The great service and OK if a little tired décor goes a long way to making the experience more palatable. The Burger I had in the evening and the breakfast were as good as you would get in any hotel. The tasty treats at registration are a great welcome. I don't want you to think this is an unpleasant stay. It's just that the monumental efforts to give great service are let down by the state of the bathroom that frankly no hotel should be offering let alone a chain like Hallmark.
We had a lovely stay. Booked a suite...took a while to get in as batteries were dead. But God bless the really tall guy from the bar he ran all over to sort it he really is an asset to the hotel. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only quibble is that we booked a valentines package and they didn't know we had to chase them up on the sparkling wine and late check out. However this was quickly sorted thank you. I would definitely recommend and return 😘
Got a great deal at this lovely hotel for 2 couples 2 nights DBB. Stayed here numerous times and always had a great time. The evening meal menu now has a limited choice but was excellent. The breakfast choice has been cut back but still ok. Rooms are a good size and clean and tidy but the baths could do with re sealing as mould in the sealant. The biggest shock however was to find you now have to pay eagle eye for parking £10 a night apparantly brought in 6 months ago NOT pointed out on the confirmation email. This took the shine off the good deal adding £20 On the plus side the new matron dee Charlie was excellent Always had a great time here but will now think again before booking Spoilt by car park charges
Went to this hotel for a murder mystery night on the 11 feb 2017 , we put 5 lights on in this room it was dark and dim with no outlook , the a joining door of the room was unlocked and went through to another room , we requested this to be locked up to safeguard our belongings and asked for milk for our coffee, we are still waiting, no shower in this room old bathroom which had seen better days we went to the dinning room at 6. 30 only to be told your upstairs in the other room for murder mystery event. drinks were rosie wine or orange jucie then we went with the flow to the dinning room sat down at table no 1 near to the stage the actors moved out to the edge the ballroom floor and started to perform no mics people could not hear or see the actors face .we were looking on to their backs, my blood was beginning to boil by now we and ask to see the manager, who arrived after some 20 min s later I asked what is this crap that's on here called the police and asked me to leave, I told him this will be on tripadvisor then he swore at me needs a course in man management avoid at all costs and he refused me a refund 150 for this , better off Premier Inn and cheaper modern rooms with showers avoid at all cost thread bear carperts on the stairs
Hotel is in a perfect location straight as you walk out of the train station, popped in to drop off our bags at 12.30pm & were greeted by a lovely receptionist who told us our room was already ready for us! Room 321 was clean & spacious with adequate facilities (also a nice sized bath) the only thing i had a slight grumble about was there was grime around the base of the bath taps but nothing a good soak & scrub wouldnt sort & there was a bit of damp around the window hence why the review is a 4* not 5 *,however this didn't affect our stay in the slightest & i didnt spot any of this dirt & grime that other reviews have stated around the hotel at all! Also considering our room was right on the main street there was very minimal noise pollution. Booked dinner for 8pm that evening, during which we asked the waiter Javier (who really is an asset to the hotel he can't do enough for you!) if we could share a starter & dessert...both of which came out split on separate plates which was a nice touch (& saves arguments on who's eating who's half of the food ;).) After we asked the receptionist on evening duty if she could recommend where the brickyard was as we were going the following evening & she got us a map & even drew where the pubs & clubs for the evening were so we could find our way around. Breakfast was buffet style & cooked fresh & hot with plenty to choose from! Ranging from the good old full english to a nice continental with fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola & pastries. We also were given a pouring flask of coffee each to go with our breakfast. Had a drink in the hotel bar both nights of our stay which had a pleasant ambience & was very relaxing! Then to top off a lovely stay checkout was quick & efficient & we were also allowed to keep our bags (we had shopped till we dropped) behind reception for 2 hours until our train was due! All in all this was a relaxing weekend away we were both in need of. Thankyou to all the staff at the Hallmark hotel we will definitely be back!
Great Location onsite parking Large room although a bit dated but otherwise very comfortable. Staff all friendly polite and professional Bar and restaurant area very spacious nice decor and comfortable Food was good didn't have to wait long either. Breakfast buffet everything fresh and warm Very well presented Staff very attentive Would certainly go back
I don't think I have booked into the same hotel as previous reviews. We arrived before the check in time in order to park the car and do some shopping, we entered the hotel in order to register for the car park the receptionist (Lauren ) greeted us pleasantly and told us how to register for parking then checked us in and handed over the room card (which was a pleasant surprise as we were early). Our room is spacious and well presented water is hot and plentiful. The hotel is right in Carlisle centre so you can expect noise but the hotel does offer earplugs at reception ( as suggested in my previous review). When we went to reception to book into the restaurant for our evening meal Marie the receptionist on duty was very friendly and answered all our queries in a friendly manner. Our evening meal was well presented and plentiful only quibble they didn't have our first choice of wine. As we are staying two nights I will let you know about breakfast in next review.
