Great location in the middle of the Walled City. Lots of action everywhere. Staff were very accomodating. The pool on the roof was amazing with an incredible view. Only drawback was the rooms are very tiny.
Great location. Only a less than $5 taxi ride from the airport. My husband has a bad knee, but he could get to the hop on/off bus, restaurants and museums. I could walk around and explore the walled city feeling safe. Thanks to the police everywhere. Even if their English isn't the greatest, people really try to answer your questions. They must have looked at my birthdate on my passport and surprised me with a birthday muffin at breakfast. David is great in the restaurant and the pool on the roof at sunset is fantastic. We had a room on the Plaza that can be loud, but liked watching the activities 24/7. If you want quiet, ask for another one. Breakfast was varied, but good. Safe, refrigerator, and A/C were great. Everyone was pleasant and helpful at the hotel. We stayed 6 nights and still plenty to see and explore. We would stay here again.
This hotel is up to date and comfortable. The location is great if you want to walk over to Gethsemani, the "Brooklyn" of Cartagena. Our first night they put us in an interior room on the second floor that felt like a dungeon and we asked them to change it. They put us in a much pleasanter room for the other two nights. The staff was very nice. Cartagena is a party town so there is a little street noise but that is probably true at all hotels as it is a very busy place at night. Roof top pool was very nice. The only thing that disappointed me is that breakfast was not included. It said it was in our guidebook and seems to be offered in all other hotels and so we ended up spending a little more money than we expected as a result.
This boutique hotel is located in one of the main squares in the old town overlooking the pretty clocktower: you're in the heart of things, and yet comfortably removed from the hussle-and-bustle of the busy street-life outside. The small pool on the roof is a real gem: the perfect place for sunbathing and cooling off with stunning views both over the old town and across the water to the contemporary high-rise part of the city. And it never seemed to get overcrowded, a surprise for such a lovely spot, but I guess most people are out and about sight-seeing by day. We had a family reunion here, so did a mix of sightseeing and relaxing together by the pool. Which brings me to the reception staff and particularly Paula who speaks good English and was incredibly helpful. Not only did she telephone one of our party from her home after work to check she was feeling better (having suffered altitude sickness from changing planes at Bogota), she allowed our boys to rebuild 2 bikes beside the reception area and willingly removed mountains of packaging without complaint. The rooms were clean with efficient airconditioning and we had a good view over the square. Only minor criticism would be that the windows should have been cleaned properly on the outside: it looked like there had been some sort of rainy sandstorm going on in recent weeks!
We just got back from Cartagena, and stayed at this wonderful hotel, great location next to the clock tower in the main square, had upgraded to one of balcony rooms, and so glad I did at night I would sit and watch the square come alive with people for me it was super pleasant... the staff was so amazing and helpful... would recommend this hotel to people looking for a fun location in this beautiful city....
Great location in the middle of downtown Cartagena! You have all kinds of fun all around you, Friday nights party starts in the plaza right next to you. Restaurants and shopping areas are all at walking distance. All employe were great with recommendations and helping you organize your day to day plans.
The NH Cartagena Urban Royal was right at the heart of the historical centre in Cartagena. It was close to great restaurants and shopping. Walking around the historical centre was like going back in time. The hotel itself was clean and the hotel staff were very friendly and quick to help any request we had.
Not a big fan of this hotel, when they shut down the rooftop gathering area (only area to meet as a group) at 8 pm you are on your own to find a spot away from your hotel. Security can be bought off but it will get more expensive everyday. When u won't pay it, no chance they will leave it accessible. Small damp rooms but it is Columbia! Great location and nice place to lay your head. But this is not a 1st world hotel, neither is any of the service. I personally would never recommend a large group with multiple rooms. There are options to say in beautiful hotel in the area, this one is ......... not that. Depends what ur into.
Ok place with a great roof top pool. Again, very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was very simple and limited, however what was offered was very good. Rooms were on small side but not squishy and it is in an old building so totally expected. View from roof was great, pool and loingers fantastic.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of a convention. Location is great if you intention is to attend a conference, and walk the old city. Now, the hotel experience was far from others offered by NH in other Colombian cities... Noisy rooms, faulty air conditioning, mold in the bathroom ceiling and a permanent humidity odor on the room and common areas of the hotel. The breakfast that is included in the rate is very limited and items and options, two out of the 3 days there was no juice or fruit available. In my opinion, sometimes not offering breakfast or offering a simple continental breakfast with muffins and croissants will make many travelers happier than trying to offer a sophisticated breakfast with no options. Overall, would not stay there again.
