Spent 3 nights at the resort. Great place to escape and get spoiled. We chose the food option vs cooking ourselves. Not a place if you want action and entertainment. Enjoy kayaking and reading and doing nothing

I would of loved to give Casa Cordoba a real review but being that they canceled on me a week before our vacation I will review their customer service. Everything was fine until I reached out to them wondering why they had not charged me for the transportation, I waited 4 days and no charge, Well that’s when I find out it was because they were canceling on us! This leaves me wondering WHEN they planned on letting me know seeing that I reached out to them!! So they offer us another property which looked very elegant but I also find out I would have to pay an extra charge to be taken to a beach nearby. Keep in mind that my original booking already had a beach. They could have at least offered free transportation. It seems to me that they believe they’re making it up to us by offering this place that was supposed to be more expensive. Maybe so but now I was left with a UNSETTLING feeling. So now we decided we want our money back. Another person starts handling the situation, a person names Louis Dubosc. He tells us that to have a refund we must wait 10 business days to have our credit card credited the 500$ we have spent. Well I can’t wait that long, I need to book another lodging now! The other option is to have a cash refund on our arrival to Cartagena. This would of worked until I was told the refund would be in Colombian pesos. I find this totally unprofessional! If you pay in US dollars you should be refunded in US Dollars. I also want to add that Mr. Dubosc’s response time to all our emails was very slow! Waiting about a day to receive information from him as we try to get this all figured out. Finally we take the refund credit back to our card. Mr. Dubosc allegedly requested the refund on October 30th. It is now November 13th i am back from my vacation and I AM YET TO RECEIVE MY REFUND! I also reached out to Mr. Dubosc on November 6th making him aware that we have not received our money and I have not heard from him. I hate to give such negative review but what else am I to say? Before you book Casa Cordoba please consider what they have done to us. They created a horrible situation for us, I do not even know if I will get my 500$ back from them. They are NOT to be trusted or taken seriously.

I booked this place for 3 nights for a group of 12. Kelly from Casa Cordoba answered a million questions and reserved the boat accommodations for us. The hotel booking process is a bit painful -- requires filling out PDFs, but it will save you money over the traditional booking sites. Also, the boat is expensive -- $1600 round trip for the 41' boat but includes two full days of boating on the Rosario Islands on a private boat to wherever you want to go. You will have to pay that $1600 in *cash*, so be aware that you'll bring that in advance and carry it with you. As for the property, they handled our group of 12 well. We booked the entire set of 3 casas. The houses are comfortable with great AC and water pressure in the rooms. Some rooms have shared bathrooms. The common areas and bathrooms don't have AC. The wifi was ok. The pool was great. The mosquitos are a nuisance but nothing crazier than Cartagena. The water is on the murky side of Baru but very warm and safe. Bring water shoes as you'll be climbing over scraps coral to get out to the water. The staff are super friendly but don't know English, but you can communicate with the property via WhatsApp. They were always very helpful and even got us a small birthday cake, a stereo, and put the tables out on the pier for a special dinner. The food is expensive (~$20 USD per meal per day @ 3 meals per day) but is well worth it. You're in the middle of nowhere. And the meals are super delicious local cuisine (we substituted out a spaghetti meal with a more authentic Colombian one). One thing to watch out for: the kayaks have holes in the back that fill with water so don't venture out too far. We almost sank a couple of them. All in all a great time spent there!

We stayed at this secluded island resort for two nights during a 1-week stay in Cartagena. While expensive (for lodgings and private boat transport), the experience is unique and allows your family to focus on each other. We swam in the pool, paddled in kayaks along the coastline and enjoyed reading and playing cards, while listening to our playlist. There is internet and satellite TV as needed. Most memorable were the catered meals on the beach and time with spouse and children. Lodgings are well laid out with an efficient use of space. Our 4 bed, 3.5 bath rental (one of three houses on the resort) had A/C units in each room (for ample cooling) and fans and accordion doors could be used as needed for circulation of the island breeze. The resort staff was excellent and very happy to accommodate any request (as we had young, picky eaters). Our interest in exploring the "local" town of Baru (not a highlight, even for this adventurous author) was met with some caution, but supported by a "secure" 2-staff escort for the 20-minute walk to the (very local, non-tourist) town. In summary, this resort is not The Breakers and the beach is not The Outer Banks (this is a coral island with coral-lined beaches - great for exfoliation). However, it was a memorable experience that is representative of the area and a pleasing way to relax and enjoy the people you are traveling with.

If paradise exists!... As soon as we took the private boat, we knew it would be a wonderful stay! We privatized with friends the colonial-styled houses of Casa Cordoba Baru for a week, and we were welcomed far more than we expected. Private beach, private swimming pool, with only the sea as a neighborhood, and all the comfort and service you can wait for. Our friends were delighted and we keep beautiful memories of that week together.

Perfect getaway on an island close to Carthagena. We spent several days on Baru surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, sandy beaches and swimming either in the sea or the swimming pool. Very relaxing in a luxurious yet homey setting.

The house we stayed in was extremely well located just a couple of steps from the beach. The food was very fresh and well cooked. The menu was very fitting for the tropical setting and the hotel staff were very kind and always available. Just under an hour away from the large city of Cartagena, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly authentic island getaway.

The setting of this hotel was truly special, nestled away on a beautiful island just off the coast of Cartagena. I was travelling in Colombia last summer with Friends and this spot was one of our favourites. Would return in a heartbeat!

As opposed to the previous reviewer, I hired out all 3 "cabanas" as we were a group of 18 people. I did put a lot of time in in advance arranging everything - but both Kelly and Shatri were unfailingly patient and helpful throughout the many many e-mails sent back and forth! And whilst in Colombia, they constantly checked in with me that everything was going accordingly - which it did. I had worked upon an agreed menu in advance, and all the meals without exception were delicious (everyone in the group commented on this aspect). From a basic chicken caesar salad through to a coconut lobster & seafood stew - the cooking was fantastic. And the staff were all charming, and always waiting to assist with fresh pots of coffee etc. without being imposing. Being such a large group with luggage, we decided to travel to the house via cars rather than by boats because of the expense. The journey was a little hairy at points I must admit...but it all added to the adventure! The house is remote, but that is the beauty of it. We spent 3 days relaxing on the beach and in the pool, swimming in the sea, playing card games etc. Again, you do need to plan ahead to get any extras you might want set-up, but once I was there I never wanted to leave. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

When you have paid through the roof for a spot on Baru Island you would expect something special and exclusive, unfortunately it couldn't have been further from the truth. The resort was not exclusive, there were other guests making use of the facilities while we were there. We were stuck on this island with nothing to do with about 100 meters of a lousy beach with green murky waters. The food was beyond description, just terrible, dry toasts where kept in the over from one day to the other, forget butter, all you had was some lousy margarine. I have never felt this ripped off in my life.
