Traveled with my husband toddler and father and had an amazing time. Breakfast was delicious and cleanliness was on point. There are three Toucans who are friendly and made experience beautiful. I will certainly return and recommend to friends.
We enjoyed our stay at Bantu significantly! It is located in a great location, the interior design is restful and very attractive. The breakfast was outstanding and the customer service was strong. We loved making friends with the resident Toucan Tatu, too! Thank you for a beautiful respite from the heat in the middle of the walled City!
I was there for a couple of nights, the hotel is very well located and the rooms are beautifully decorated in a rustic style.
When we checked in we waited till 5pm or 6pm then were given a room with two beds and the door lock was broken .. We were unable to lock the room at all. We moved into another room that was very loud we couldn't even hear each other and the windows were wood with openings and won't even close with a shared balcony. The room was full of mosquitos. We then were forced to spend the night into a room that was half way renovated. The bathroom is missing half of the ceiling. No roof. Open to the top of the builing looking into the sky. The bathroom is humid and full of flies. We also have cockoroches and lizards crawling around. Horrible stay. We work very hard all year to get a relaxing vacation and this ruined it .. The only positive thing is the bellman Carlos was trying to help us but the front desk lady was not friendly. Take your money somewhere else. We ate hoping to find another hotel tomorrow or take our vacation to another city/country
Bantu was quaint, clean, comfortable and perfect walking distance to everything in Cartagena.
The location is excellent, the rooms are beautifully designed, the staff is friendly, and the rooftop pool and patio is perfect. This is the perfect place to stay for a short or long weekend stay in Cartagena.
They had oversold the hotel and I couldn't stay there.
Staff very competitive and pleasant and the location excellent
The hotel was excellent , however the internet service was very bad,
This was our first time to Colombia, the hotel is centrally located in the heart of old Cartagena, very good location !, within easy walking distance to most tourist sites. Cozy ambient. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms beautifully decorated. It is a good choice, very good value.
The center of Cartagena is incredibly touristic, so it's great that this hotel is right on the edge of that area, so it is less than five minutes walk, but you also get to live in the San Diego neighborhood, which has all of the charm of the proper colonial center, but with much less of the downsides of a tourist area. The hotel itself is wonderful. As an example, they turn the AC on in your room hours before you get there, so that the room feels great when you walk in (Cartagena is very hot and humid, so you'll understand how nice that feels). Then it has a charming courtyard with a resident Toucan tropical bird with the rainbow nose. The pool on the roof makes for a great pastime in the afternoon when the heat makes it too oppressive to walk around a lot. You can sit by the pool drinking an ice cold Coca Cola in a glass bottle, which is a pleasure you don't see in the US anymore. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
Beautiful old building, welcoming atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful with service and information. Would go back. Following a energy blackout in the area, wifi router that served my room stopped working , so in the last 2 days I needed to go to common areas for connection.
This was my worst experience ever. I attended a wedding in Cartagena, and all of my friends were staying at the same hotel, which was full with all the wedding guests; friends I hadn't seen in years. I booked this hotel with [...]and received my confirmation, but when I arrived at 10 p.m. I found out the hotel never received my reservation. I had to spend 2 of my 3 nights in a horrible hotel 2 blocks down the road, in a really tiny room. Thank god my wife and I didn't travel with our baby, because there wasn't enough space in the room even for our luggage. I expect a full refund and an explanation!
The swimming pool was closed and this was not public knowledge ( it is more like a roof top bath tub ). The Sauna and Turkish bath were not on either... The were some extremly loud and roudy guests that the management did not control adequately. They screamed all night. The wifi signal does not reach the rooms so you have to use the common areas.
