Casablanca had everything I needed and nothing superfluous. For me, Cartagena was a cultural exploration, so I wanted to be within the walled city at a boutique property, and while I wanted a quality hotel to return to each night, the fancy restaurants and concierge of a Four Seasons weren't the focus. Casablanca balances being right near all the old city action with also being a very tasteful and private oasis. I found the high ceilings and elegant minimal decor both beautiful and practical, and the fact that my first floor room had indoor and outdoor showers was a lovely surprise. The rooftop pool is more than sufficient for a quick dip or a relaxing break from exploring. Sure, Sofitel has a gorgeous property and lovely bar, and it was worth the visit, but I'm glad I had Casablanca as an escape from the stimulation of the city. Overall it's an ideal spot for someone seeking a slightly upscale property but who will be exploring Cartagena rather than just sitting at the pool all day.
With the cruise ship phenomenon hitting Cartagena, it's necessary to have a calm place to rest your head. This B&B was lovely in that regard...very nicely appointed, only a dozen rooms, great breakfast and staff. Rooms are big, shower was enough for an army, very luxe and just enough off the beaten path, but walkable to everywhere. I read other reviews of noise, but that wasn't our experience.
Casablanca B&B was a wonderful and beautiful hotel to have chosen on our first visit to Cartagena. The staff, environment and location could not have been more ideal. The hotel was extremely well maintained and everyone who worked there went out of their way to see that whatever our needs or concerns, they were attended to. This hotel was a real treat to have stayed in and we were there for 6 days with absolutely no problems.
We had all 11 rooms for our family. Service was excellent. Breakfast crew were amazing. The afternoon receptonist, Kandi, always took care of us. The rooms were decorated beautifully. Housekeeping was always done well. The two pools were always clean and enjoyable. Enjoyed the rooftop.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights while on vacation. The hotel is perfectly located in the old section of Cartagena. We enjoyed being able to walk around and then cool off at our hotel before venturing out again. The property was lovely with lots of gardens and reflecting pools. My challenge with the hotel is that it was noisy. There was music that was playing by the rooftop pool that we could hear from our second story bedroom. The music started at 8am and played all day until about 10 or 11pm at night. We did not appreciate that. The staff were very helpful, but as heads up they speak minimal English. Lastly, the doors at the hotel did not have an inner lock. I found that odd. Twice the housekeeping staff walked in without knocking and were surprised to find us there.
I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are very spacious and attractive. The hotel staff is very helpful and willing to make dinner reservations and call for taxis. The breakfast menu had a view different options.
PROS: junior suite is spacious with 12' ceilings, roof deck lovely for night time hanging out, location central in the walled city - close to restaurants and the wall to watch the waves crashing. CONS: staff was generally helpful - the receptionist that works the morning shift (candy) was great but the receptionist in the evening/night shift hardly spoke English. She checked us in and didn't bother telling us the power was out. Every time we asked her anything, she didn't appear to understand or may have understood but didn't know the English words to respond. Also, if you need a nice pool, this place just has a small pool. There's a big pool at the Sofitel nearby but the price tag is a lot higher.
I love the room of this hotel, very good space for a confortable stay, excellent bathroom and with Loccitane ammenities!! very good! Service is regular, could be better, specially the ladies in the lobby.
Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. The facilities and location are top notch and the service even better. Candy at the front desk was just amazing. They will make you feel at home. Try to stay at the junior suite if possible.
I got an upgrade to the best suite in the hotel "thank you Candy :)" That suite is amazing, it's very big with a living room and the shower is roofless! You can see the sky. The decor is nice. The lightning of the place is really great. The hotel is very nice, specially the first floor pool, there is another pool in the roof. They also use Loccitane amenities which are very important to me. Even though it's a very nice place, it isn't luxury as you might feel in a top chain hotel. For example the breakfast I didn't like it at all. The mattress is not good, is a cheap one, and the air conditioning is not centralized, is that type of split that makes an uncomfortable sound.
