Stayed here on the 5th floor for the snooker in februrary. i've just about recovered enough from the state of this once brilliant hotel to be able to write a co-herent review, or more a cautionary tale in hopes no on else will have to pay good money to have this place inflicted on them. I parked in the very near st davids shopping centre after reading this was the best way. So details, details - well check-in was simple enough the girl on reception (kylie i think) had all the charm and warmth of an angry wasp, which i think she may have just finished chewing on. on to the room, well the cielings and walls have water marks the bathroom celing was terrible - i think there is an issue with damp here, there were all the signs and stong smells of damp. The furniture looks old and tired - needs updating...and drying!! and room was freezing cold, the window doesnt seal properly and even on the top floor you can clearly hear the city below. I picked up the phone to complain to reception - but that didnt work either!! I turned on the postage stamp sized heater in the room and went downstairs to complain and try to warm up - the desk was quite busy when I got to the lobby so I went to the bar for a coffee - after waiting for 10 minutes at the unmanned bar - and looking at the sky high prices - I decided I'd fair batter in the shopping centre opposite. I was soon in the warm, comfort and smiling atmosphere of the very near costa coffee. After a little window shopping, and a lot of warming up I went to the snooker in the motopoint, had a thoroughly good time and went back to the hotel smiling and deciding maybe things werent that bad, I went straight up to my room to find it a little warmer, but still just as ugly. I decided to sleep on things and take it up with reception in the morning - hopefully a different receptionist would be on! when I woke up I decided we'll call it 50/50 and I'll just stay somewhere else next year. I got myself a quick shower, gathered by belongings and discovered I had been bitten on the tops of my arms, back and neck. I immediately panicked and picked up the phone...which I totally forgot DIDNT WORK. I went to the bed to see if i could see anything, pulled the sheets away and OH MY GOD i have never seen dirtier or more stained mattresses in my life - these were bogging!! I didnt look any further, I grabbed my stuff, made for the way out barely stopping to drop my key in the plastic box for check out. SInce getting home, I've been to the GP who thinks my bites might be from BEDBUGS?! I'd never heard of them, but having since researched and read up. I can say without reserve I Will never, ever stay here again! Ive no doubt this will attract a 'response' from someone in the hotel advising me, and all of you, that this is an isolated incident, and they're dissapointed and mortified (god knows they should be!) I am writing this review ONLY to warn other like myself,us that dont need luxury or finery in a hotel, us dont like to complain or make a fuss, but the same us that do expect a basic minmum standard. My Dad always told me if you give someone money, and never see them again then its a worthwhile lesson you've paid for - I think this applies here. I don't want refunds, rhettoric or compensation, All I want it is nothing further to do with Park inn.
This was a well organised coach trip out of Nottingham by Skills Coaches and stayed at a lovely hotel 'Park Inn' which was equally well organised. Spent free time in Cardiff centre before checking into the hotel. Had a yummy! evening meal and a lot to choose from. Slept well in a huge white marshmallow/cloud then came down for a well cooked breakfast. Then made our way back home but stopping in Worcester for a few hours of free time. This has to be the best value excursion that I've had in a long time. Try it!
This hotel has prime location in centre of town and is very good accommodation, ask about car parking charge`s onsite before you book, the staff are very good, the breakfast was very good set`s you up for the day ahead. The room was kept clean and tidy.
Booked into this hotel for a Saturday night. I rang beforehand to ask about parking and the receptionist was lovely, very helpful. The rooms were nice, very clean and we booked breakfast which was buffet style but very well stocked . Hotel is a great location, very central. The staff were great especially the lady on reception when we arrived, she was lovely. We parked in the st.davids car park as they only have limited space in the hotel car park which was £20 for 24 hours
Messed up our booking. Paid for superior room and breakfast and when we got there we were booked in for no breakfast and put in a standard room. With no time to switch rooms we stayed in the room and told we couldn't be refunded because of 3rd party booking(even though the hotel take the payment at the hotel?) We had our breakfast changed and the self serve breakfast was lovely, can't fault the breakfast at all. (The breakfast redeemed the experience) In the end our parking fee was wavered for the room mix up. But over all not good experience, because we wanted a superior room and payed for it. The room itself was okay. Really comfy bed, but bathroom very dated. This hotel is good for the location but probably wouldn't go again, so many other better ones to choose from in the same location.
Our room was very hot! There is no air conditioning in the room. Only a window you can open just a few inches. We asked maintenance to bring us a fan to help cool off the room. There was also a concert going on at the arena so with the window open it was very loud. There were also spider webs in the room and a spider on the ceiling. The bathroom had mold in it, and wasn't the cleanest.
We had a warm welcome on arrival, the hotel room was warm and well appointed with the usual trappings. The central location was useful as this was our first visit to Cardiff, close to the shops , venues with lots of places to eat. I couldn't get the TV to work, reception sent someone straight away to fix.The only slight issue was that it's central location meant nearby business's had early delivery's outside. This wasn't to much of a problem and outside the hotels control, just thought it worth a mention if you like quite mornings.
Nice hotel in a great location for the Motorpoint Arena and St Davids shopping centre. Reasonably priced but very clean and adequate amenities (bar was pricey). Friendly staff and would definitely stay there again.
Opposite Motorsport arena so great for an overnighter if watching a show. Without doubt the most depressing gloomy room I've ever stayed in. Grey walls! Needs updating asap! View from room was marred by bars on the Windows. Whatever the building was used for before was not appropriate for turning into a hotel. Awful decor throughout. Definitely will not be staying again and would not recommend
The room had everything you would expect T.V. Kettle, iron. It also had a small fridge that needed to be defrosted. The bathroom was quite small but the shower was excellent. The food in the restaurant was very good although the selection was very limited for an evening meal. The breakfast was very good with a very good selection of cooked and cold selection on offer. It was also very centeraly located. The castle was about half a mile walk. The motor point centre was just across the road from the hotel front door.
