ANU - University House Hotel

Ideal if Visiting ANU

This hotel can't be beaten if you're visiting ANU as it's in the heart of the campus, which also means the surroundings are tranquil and very safe. Staff are friendly and the check in process was a breeze. The rooms are arranged in blocks that surround an inner courtyard, stacked three-storey high and without lifts, so call ahead if there are any difficulties with climbing stairs. The facilities (beds, furniture, bathroom, etc) were obviously top notch when first installed and whilst still very functional and generally clean, are very much outdated and cannot compete with the newer hotels popping up around Canberra. We arrived on a very hot day and whilst there was an air conditioner in the room, it struggled to keep us cool even at night. This was exacerbated by the fact that our room was on the top level (third floor). As such, it may be better to request a lower floor when staying here in summer. There are very few options for food and shopping in the immediate area but Civic, the central shopping area, is within a walkable distance for most.

Crowne Plaza Canberra

Nice hotel; friendly staff

Pretty good hotel. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because of the limited dining options.

Pacific Suites Canberra

Not cheap but worth the cost.

Had me and my wife and 2 year old and my elderly parents in the family suite which is a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom room. We had 3 single beds and they split the queen into 2 singles for my parents. Great room, lots of space. Only wish they had A/C in the bedrooms instead of just the living room. Comfortable, lots of space, modern for the most part. Will go with them again and recommend to others. Great location only a few blocks from the mall. Walking distance to lots of eateries.
