Not sure what the rooms are like, but late 2017 I attended a conference there, and the food was to say the least very ordinary. Hot food was mostly served luke warm, and such things as partially cooked potato in a potato salad, and pretty ordinary fare in general. I and others wished there was more other food easily accessible from neighboring establishments(at our own expense), but time was too limited to manage it. Maybe it's OK to stay, but when one aspect of the establishment screams sooo loudly that no-one gives a crap, or that they don't know what they are doing, then I'd wonder about what I might get.
Stayed for four nights 5 nights for work. PROS - staff overall very friendly. Helped amend my stay so I wouldn’t have to change rooms for last night. - funky furnishings. - good location. CONS - requested a wake up call on morning of check out, but didn’t happen. - air conditioning in room would make sporadic noises, so I had to turn it off. - no gym, but that was known prior so not too much can be held against the hotel - hotel rooms are showing their age - sink blocked easily, air exhaust in bathroom didn’t really work. Would stay again, but there might be better options for other travellers.
In typical QT style I slept so well I was almost late checking out. These guys know what they’re doing to make you happy and they do it well. The only place I’ve ever stayed that was better was another QT on the Gold Coast!!!
First stay here and it won’t be the last. Great staff. The restaurant and bar downstairs are great; excellent food and a good wine list. Rooms are funky and fresh. Had to borrow a set of cuff links from the front desk staff as i’d Left mine at home - staff happy to help out
Hotel is very easy to book, parking is easy for Canberra as well, rooms depict a political theme throughout and the rooms are a little small, business travellers suited, couples probably would need an upgrade room and they are decorated well and have everything you need. As others have said facilities could improve with a gym (or gym partnership) with one of the closer ones. Food is great at the restaurant and really good value with your pgr membership. Staff are great, check in, check out was seamless and value for money is there considering Canberra is typically expensive.
QT Canberra is a stylish modern hotel that is great for business travellers. The room was clean and very comfortable. There’re pop art curios and fun things guests can buy that were in the room. It was a pity I had a one night business trip or else I would have made a couple of purchases. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the restaurant and breakfast team. Dining at the hotel restaurant is highly recommended. The menu’s varied and so was the wine list. The breakfast spread was varied and coffee was great. The food was fresh, simply delicate and in the right portions. Will return to QT in my next business trip.
What a change from the old Lakeside. Have stayed here multiple times and it’s a great location and fun place to stay. The rooms are well equipped with free wifi, tea and coffee and ok power points. The restaurant can be busy but there are alternatives in the neighbourhood.
The hotel was great, it was only an overnight stay but easy to book and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was fantastic, nice and big and very clean. Had a reasonable view over lake Burley Griffin and up to parliament house from the balcony. Easy five minute walk to the shore of the lake. Requested a late checkout and reception were only to happy to organise. The restaurant downstairs was probably a bit overpriced but that was about the only minor negative. Would recommend this hotel.
We had a lovely stay here. Particularly love the art deco in our room plus the attention to detail was much appreciated. We had our favourite Manhattan drinks available in room. The hotel was in the middle of everything we wanted to go to plus the resto at the lobby had a good steak offering.
Hotel stay was great. Room is really funky and nice. Lobby restaurant and bar are very cool. Staff are great. We had a great experience and a great stay here. Awesome! PS the area of the hotel has plenty of nice places to eat and drink.
