I got QT vouchers as part of our wedding gift and have been loving my experience at the hotel. In Dec 2017 we stayed 1 night on the 12th floor and had breakfast included. It was supposed to be a buffet but because of lack of staff due to Christmas holidays, we got one breakfast dish and a drink. It was good food and friendly service. On our second stay in May, I discovered QT was a 15min walk to a nice Indian restaurant Cooper Chimney. Go for their lunch specials! Delicious curries at a good price. The front desk man was very kind and helpful in assisting an early check-in since our room on the 12th floor was available. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Visited QT on a business trip. Rooms are nice and amenities decent. The buffet breakfast was basic and staff there not very friendly and helpful. The bars including the exclusive rooftop bar closes very early around midnight. Stayed on week nights. Central and close to most things in Canberra.

Very nice hotel with great service, nice rooms and excellent staff. Walking distance to some great restaurants and the Canberra centre. Free WiFi and good coffee in the rooms. Breakfast and meals nice. We were here for a conference and it was perfect

QT is well located in the city; walk to restaurants, cafes and Canberra Centre. We had a jnr suite and it was clean, comfortable and updated - and had nespresso & comp wifi! King bed was super comfy. The only drawbacks for us were limited parking at the hotel and no gym in the building (QT gives access to Fitness First at Canberra Centre). Would stay again if able to get decent rate.

We booked the QT primarily for its convenient proximity to the ANU college where our son was living. We were staying a couple of nights there and wanted somewhere comfortable and attractive that we could use as a base for sight-seeing, as well as see our son. The QT looked quirky in an interesting and upmarket way in the photos online. This impression was boosted by the text we received the day before our check-in; ‘We hope you’re excited to come to QT Canberra tomorrow... we certainly are. If you need anything before, during or after your stay, simply reply to this message and we’ll come a-running.........Anyway, enough chit-chat. Hurry up and get here xx’ It was certainly friendly, bordering on over-familiar, but sounded enthusiastic and as though the staff were energetic and super-keen to make our stay a good one. We used their express online check-in service to ‘cut the queues and get the best room in-house’. We were also invited to join the hotel club to receive complimentary drinks on arrival, which we did. We arrived later than we had indicated and found one rather harassed member of staff who said our room wasn’t yet ready. He was polite but not warm. When we returned later, there was still only one member of staff - but a different one - so after queueing for some time while he served someone else, we had to reintroduce ourselves. This would all have been par for the course, ordinarily, but it made the online booking-in system seem somewhat pointless. There was no sign of any complimentary welcome drink after all. The bar and foyer were under constant siege by forgettable, but not ignorable, foreground music. It was possible to hear other people speak but it was an irritating distraction to making phone calls in either area. The bar was very modern and chic in appearance. It was also oppressively dark and felt more like a night club than a comfortable area for sitting and enjoying a coffee, especially during the day. It certainly didn’t seem like a popular area for and was quite deserted the few times we passed through. The wine list was very expensive. Whilst it’s reasonable to want to sell wines in the top price range, it also seems unreasonable - and greedy - not to sell more inexpensive ones to cater for all budgets. There was no gym or pool. It was possible to get a gym pass for Fitness First, a fifteen minute walk away but we were told that, unfortunately, it was closed all day on Anzac Day. The room was pleasant and we had a nice view from our narrow balcony out over the city. The tv was large and the bathroom fittings were attractive. There was no bath but the shower area was generously sized. However, the shower pressure was disappointingly weak. The standard of cleaning was good but our room was not made up until quite late in the afternoon. I think this was because, from what I could tell, there was only one person working the floor. Again, as with the reception area, it seemed as though there weren’t enough staff. I phoned down for more teabags at one point and was told they would be five minutes. I never got them. My main gripe with the QT is that, in my opinion, it aspires to be something it’s not. I felt it was aiming for up-market, quirky chic with friendly staff, falling over themselves to help out. What we got instead were mixed messages and indifferent service from harried staff in a glitzy but soulless and unwelcoming environment.

The QT is in a great location and we mostly had a great experience during our 3 night stay. Our room was clean, the view was great and the king bed was really comfy. The bar is great and we were given vouchers for 2 complimentary drinks when we checked in. We had breakfast included with our package and it was ok but nothing special. We didn’t enjoy the coffee and ended up going elsewhere for our morning caffeine. We wanted to hire bikes from the hotel however they mostly had flat tyres so we were unable to use them, which was disappointing. Our toilet became blocked one night so I asked at reception at about 8pm if someone could have a look at it. The next morning it was still blocked and I had to call reception again. Someone came to fix it within 15 minutes but it should have been done the night before. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will probably stay there again.

The QT is in a great location in the city. Handy to walk to restaurants and bars. The rooms have cool decor with humorous political notes and were very comfortable. It's not your typical 'cookie cutter' hotel. Loved the look and feel of the hotel bar with cosy lounges and fireplace. Staff were friendly and helpful. This is an old hotel in Canberra but they have made it feel funky and modern.

Overall, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Love the small detail in the decor, the jokes, the interesting little bits and pieces in the rooms. Thank you! The bed was soft and spacious, very warm and snuggly doona, great movies on offer on TV, not your average hotel - really fun and interesting.

Booked a superior king room on lakeside which according to the receptionist told me higher level charged more but better view, but all I got is a tall building blocked in front of the lake, and I need to go out to the balcony in order to see the lake on my very left side. Very disappointed. The balcony is so tiny and dirty, the railing wobbles too much for the height of our room. 13 floor balcony railing should be rock solid. No double glazed windows-ridiculous amount of noises from street below. And the room is so small makes you wonder if it’s the king room I booked. But I like the breakfast buffet and complimentary drink idea. Overall, my family and I didn’t have a good stay here. Not recommended to families with kids.

The room was well appointed and had a very modern vibe even though the building itself is rather old (balconies look very tired). Very well located it is an easy walk to city center or use the overpass at the end of the street to be on the walkways around the lake.
