Beautifully appointed studio apartment room (on the 6th floor). Couldn't fault a thing. Bed and amenities were fantastic. Very spacious, quiet, warm and inviting. Hotel staff were polite and efficient. Room cleaned and made up to a high standard. Would recommend the hotel to any business traveler or couple wanting to spend time in Canberra. Everything just worked as it should do, and no complaints. As a regular contributor to Trip Advisor, if its bad, I'll say so, and if its good, credit where credit is due. The Burbury Hotel comes highly recommended.
We booked a one bedroom apartment and had a terrible experience. This room is nothing like advertised. Our list of issues included the following: - Our couch had no main back cushion, this was missing! we were expected to sit on a couch with hard back and no back cushion - Our Japanese wardrobe was broken and missing both doors, instead we had an unsightly view of the safe & ironing board - Floors in bedroom were covered in yellow stains - Our kitchen was missing the black kitchen table as advertised, instead we had empty kitchen space - Our bedroom was missing decorated chair as advertised - Our coffee table was different to what was advertised , brown & heavily scratched. It did not match the decor that is black. In photos they advertised a black table - Couch was heavily pilled. This is in addition to the missing cushions Please look at our photos for accurate image of one bedroom apartment In addition we were disappointed with the service due to the following: - no swipe to enter carpark provided instead we were asked to call reception and wait for someone to open. After 20min we were still waiting and was only able to enter the car park when another customer left - we complained about the room and was told hotel is booked and only junior staff were able to talk to us. Apparently the manager was across the road and 'too busy' to talk to us. We asked the manager to call and he didn't. We checked out on a Sunday after check out an assistant manager finally emailed us. Yet after we replied via email it has been an additional 2 days with no reply. Currently it is late Tuesday and we have no reply - junior staff did give us free breakfast as compensation but breakfast quality was poor. Coffee machine splashes and in our point of view a 'free breakfast' does not compensate the terrible room we were provided. We paid $239 for this one bedroom apartment expecting a luxury apartment as per advertised photos. Instead we received a room with broken and missing furniture lower than motel standard. The room we stayed is not even worth paying $100 for. The hotel keeps telling us it is a different room layout than the room we booked, but we would be fine with a different floor plan IF the furniture advertised in the room was physically in the room and NOT broken
I would have given this 5 stars had there not been issues with the service staff. The hotel is in a perfect location (walking distance to Parliament House), the rooms are modern and comfortable and the front of house staff were very friendly and professional. The only issue was that our room wasn't configured as requested. When I rang up reception to ask for it to be changed, it took the cleaning staff almost 2 hours to come to our room and fix. On a major positive, the wifi was super fast. Regardless of the cleaning staff issues, I would still recommend this hotel to families when visiting Canberra. Our 2 bedroom apartment was a perfect size for our family of 4. Our American friends travelling with us also liked it.
We stayed only one night in a one bedroom suite as we were just passing through Canberra. The Burbury Hotel was a very welcoming and pleasant place to stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and very well appointed. It is easy to find and in a quiet area.
We stayed here for 1 night and wish we could've stayed longer! High tech, sleek design, not your normal hotel standard. When you enter the room, you just want to jump on the bed it looks so inviting. Large pillows, super comfortable mattress and soft sheets. Air-con is efficient, Apple Mini Mac, block out blinds, light switches for "do not disturb" or "make up my room" plus door bell. Showerhead was lovely too. Breakfast buffet didn't have a huge variety of options but was sufficient. The coffee machine with takeaway cups is a great idea. The view from the terrace is a nice good morning. The location is central yet quiet and there are numerous dining options in the precinct. Hale Spa across the road is amazing too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Canberra.
First appearances were great. Nice boutique-style hotel in a central area. Large 2-bed apartment perfect for family with 2 kids. Nice bathroom with amenities. Very well priced. Unfortunately there were a number of small problems, which altogether added up to an average overall stay. On arrival, we only had 3 towels for our 4-person room, so I tried to phone reception - but couldn't find a phone anywhere. Eventually called reception from my mobile, they said that yes we should have a phone in the room, but didn't do anything about getting us one (we eventually found it under the bed). They said they'd send an additional towel (they didn't). We called again the next morning for additional towels which we were assured were on their way, but they never arrived. The beds didn't have a top-sheet, only a doona - one of my pet peeves and makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. Added to that, the linen absolutely stunk of chlorine/bleach. So not a great night's sleep for any night during our stay. On arrival, we had been offered a complimentary breakfast for the kids, which we accepted gratefully. But on departure, they tried to charge us for it. Breakfast itself was fine for the price, but service was very average - eg we had to scrounge around in a cupboard under the coffee machine to find some sugar. Would I stay here again? Probably not.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Burbury hotel . We travelled with 2 kids 9 & 7 . We did have a room with 2 queen beds so the kids did share but the beds where more king size so plenty of room . Rooms where warm , cozy, very clean and with free in house movies & wifi. Only gripe I had was that you where charged for parking each night and when I booked nothing was mentioned ..
Welcoming staff and comfortable room - maybe venture out for breakfast as hotel breakfast a little uninspiring. Comfortable bed and rain shower in bathroom was a nice touch. Good selection of complimentary movies. Look forward to returning on another trip to Canberra.
My room was such a surprise. Big. Awesome size and luxury for a standard room. Huge soft beds. Free movies. Well stocked mini bar. Just really good accomodation. Staff are friendly. Highly recommended.
Room not made up as per prior request. Visible dirt around the edges of carpet and piled up on electric sockets. Breakfast selection very poor for a 4.5 star go and look at QT in Canberra for some inspiration. In room dining very minimal if you don't fancy Japanese inspired then there is nothing else. Not good value for money paid $279 for a basic room and won't be back.
