Booked a room for 2 adults and 3 children. Nowhere for the 3rd child to sleep and had to camp on the lounge. Extremely poor for such a high priced hotel. Parking inconvenient as every time I had to access the car park I had to go to reception to get them to allow access. Rooms are substandard and tatty for the price. Laundry from house keeping left in the halls long beyond what would be considered reasonable ie. 6pm in the evening and on multiple floors. Building had a unpleasant smell about it as well.
On arrival,my husband and I were upgraded to a studio on the top floor! Large, luxe and with a balcony. Heavenly bed/pillow. Fabulous view! We also received a complimentary bottle of wine for our wedding anniversary. AND they kindly let us check out at 12 instead of 11. Friendly staff. Had breakfast up on The Terrace. Fantastic view. Great restaurants next door, including Lilotang,Chairman &Yip and Maple+Clove.
This was our third visit to the Burbury and we stayed in a two bedroom apartment which suited our needs perfectly - comfy beds and plenty of space. The only let down (perhaps made more pressing based on the price you pay to stay at the Burbury) is the maintenance that needs to be done. For our apartment on Level 1 in Building 1, items that need addressing included missing globe from a lamp, marks on the walls, a missing door from the wardrobe in the bedroom, caulking in the shower recess that has come loose as well as some other minot issues. The balcony looks like it hasnt been mopped or swept for a while with a solid layer of dust. It is a comfortable place to stay but I hope a freshen up for the rooms is planned for 2018/2019 to keep the Burbury on the list of places to stay in Canberra. Time will tell.
I must have mentioned our wedding anniversary when booking. The hotel pulled out all stops, with a path of rose petals to a rose strewn bed, bubbles and a complimentary dessert platter. Wow! And, since it was our 50th, they provided an accessible bathroom, which happily we didn’t need, but good thought! Huge comfy bed, and friendly helpful staff. Convenient location, within walking distance of the Kingston Foreshore and National Gallery. Access to all the facilities of the Realm hotel complex, including pool and spa, gym, and some of Canberra’s best restaurants. Recommended.
Good size rooms, nice bathrooms, but the bad marks on the walls, the spider webs (on the balcony) and the general filth on the balcony terrible. Not to mention very uncomfortable lounge furniture. Beds very comfortable and the pillows lovely. So an OK stay but thought it would be nicer.
Really stylish and cute place, clean and comfy. The beds and linen were divine. The shared pool isn't all that great looks as though you share it with a few hotels. We were heading to the beach so the pool wasn't if importance.
Nice hotel with good amenities. Very clean and modern. Staff was friendly. The only negative is the service which could be little fast, had to call twice to get to the reception, other than that can't complain. Very comfortable stay and hotel is very well designed gives you a luxury feel.
We stayed in a 2BR 2 bath apartment in the Burbury Apartments (located behind the Burbury Hotel) for 4 nights, and got a pretty good deal. The apartment was well stocked, serviced daily, free wifi, free parking and free movies made it excellent value. I thought the precinct concept worked well; a couple of restaurants located across the road or next to and/or in the various hotels in the block (Hotel Realm also there, and Little National hotel) meant we didn't travel far for food when we wanted to eat out. Free use of the gym and pool at Hotel Realm (across the street) was added bonus. There were little tiny things that could be improved (e.g.the towel rails in my apartment were too heavy for the wall and were pulling some of the tiles away) but overall great value, great location (Barton, a short drive to anywhere) and I would definitely come back. I imagine prices fluctuate due to it being close to Parliament House and many Government Agenies, but for us it was an excellent stay.
Great Hotel, in good location in Canberra. Room was large and very well appointed, was nice and dark and quiet at night. Bathroom grout could do with replacement. Reception was friendly and helpful, only one problem was that we didn't know to put our card in the slot to get the airconditioner going - so being told that would have helped. Didn't seem to be a hairdryer.
Check-in is simple and quick. Accommodation was very open and spacious. Travelling with my wife and child we had plenty of room in all areas of the 2 bedroom apartment. The cleanliness was not up to scratch in the bathrooms, which to be fair is probably the only thing you want to be spotless when you stay away from your home. The balcony was exceptionally dirty. Dust and leftover excrement was left all over the table and chairs outside. Entertainment system didn't work. Maintenance guy was fantastic but could not fix the issues we faced so we had no TV in either of the two bedrooms. Bed was comfy and linen was fresh and clean. Would not stay here again but for the price we weren't too concerned.
