We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. It was very spacious and had it's own balcony althougth the only seating out there was a bed type chair which looked like it hadn't been cleaned for awhile. Furniture was a little outdated and our dining tables were a little uncomfortable. Loved the in-house movies and free wi-fi. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and staff were very helpful.
Tried this hotel after Realm. Stayed in luxury one bed apartment. Was comfortable rather than spacious, with bathroom a little tight (shower, no bath, one wash hand basin). Very large, laboratory like kitchen which we never used apart from kettle and coffee maker! In house films had great selection, as per Realm, but same issue of loss of synchronization of speech and picture after few minutes. No newspapers. Great, secure parking. Washer/dryer was a combined unit which worked surprisingly well.
Really great stay, the rooms are very spacious and immaculately cleaned. The only problem with the room is there is no full length mirror, and the lighting in the bathroom is terrible for make up. The light is directly above the sink which makes it quite difficult to see your face properly. A mirror in the bed area with the natural light would be great. Staff are really helpful, and although the room service menu is small, the food is delicious. I tried the new spa as part of an accommodation package, I really hope they keep this package option as the spa was wonderful and I’d love to return there. I will be back.
The room was quite spacious and came with two windows giving attractive views across the surrounding suburb in two directions. The only real problem was in the corridors that were very dark at night and which did not have any air conditioning which made them quite stuffy.
We made a booking for a King Room at the Burbury Hotel Canberra. When we arrived they put us in an apartment room where the following did not come upto the rating of 4.6 Stars we where expecting, For the following reasons :- 1. Hygiene of the apartment and bathrooms including balcony area very poor. 2.Air extractor fan not working in the bathroom terrible smell. 3.Shower leaking in the main bathroom. 4.No minibar. 5.No information about the hotel. 6.Telephone not working, conceirge could not work out how to use it. 7. No Robes 8.No where to eat the first night 9.We will not stay at the The Burbury Hotel again.
Stayed here in the Two-Bedder apartment. Facilities provided were great with the apartment cleaned daily. I would stay here again. Good cafe nearby with good restaurant downstairs if price is no issue. Really enjoyed it. Need a car if you stay here.
We had a quick trip to Canberra and stayed at the Burbury Hotel. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and really loved it. The location was just across the bridge in a lovely area, very leafy and green. The facilities were all top notch and the kids enjoyed the use of the swimming pool in the building across the road. Would definitely stay again.
this is the third time we have stayed here and I was shocked to find the bathroom hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, we rang and they sent someone up to clean cause apparently they were booked out and couldn't move us to another room. turns out some of what we thought hadn't been cleaned were actually stains but not the ones marks in side the toilet. on the last morning when we were getting ready to leave I even noticed a beer bottle lid just under the bed (we don't drink beer), so now I wonder if the room had even been cleaned at all before we got there. this is the last time we will be staying here.
Having arrived to the lobby of the Burbury Hotel and being surprised by how plain it was compared to the photos I had seen - a quick walk across the road to the sister property “Realm” and we realised the photo on the booking site was using the Realm Lobby to represent the Burbury. Not that the Burbury is bad - but it is not the Realm. Parking and movies included was great. The rooms were spacious and clean. Unfortunately the air conditioning was broken and unable to be fixed. Sleeping with the balcony door open was OK as it is so quiet in this area of Canberra on the weekend, but it was not ideal and not what we paid for. We reported the air conditioning the next morning and were assured maintenance would fix it while we were out. We returned in the late afternoon to find the room made up but the aircon still not working. Without a phone in the room that can dial reception, I went down to the front desk and asked the lady on duty (only 1) if the aircon had been checked. I was told no it had not, but they would organise maintenance to come and check it when he was able “but he is quite busy”. I stressed I had informed reception this morning very early and asked if a suite was available for us to be moved to. I was told no upgrades were available, but we could be moved to a “room not as nice but of the same value”. I said I would like to stay where we are but would like it to be checked now as my wife and I were wanting to have a sleep before dinner. 30 mins later the maintenance man arrived at the room and checked the aircon panel and concluded as I had - it was dead. He had to go to another location to reset the fuses. This did not work and he informed me that “I should contact reception” if I wanted to move rooms. Interesting that reception was not prepared to contact us to apologise and to look for a way to either compensate us or make a reasonable gesture. We visited reception one last time on our way back in from dinner and were met with “you were told to contact us if you were not happy”. We were offered a fan! My wife who has worked in PR for some of the best hotels in the world was very unimpressed. I stay in hotels around the world and this rates as one of the worst responses to a basic service issue. Pretty unimpressed. The Burbury is meant to be a 4.5 Star property - it is 4 at best. The service response was 1.5. With a 5 Star sister property across the road - at a minimum we should have been offered an upgrade for the inconvenience or a discounted room rate for the lack of the facilities we paid for - or even a complimentary coffee in the morning. Nothing was offered! We may come back to stay at the Realm (maybe not) but we will not stay at the Burbury again for the Service experience alone.
Room not as advertised- tiny 2 bedroom apartment unable to sleep 5, then moved up the apartment we requested on booking and extra bed not appropriate for anyone over 10 kg (only put in room after 3rd request at 830pm!), appallingly slow response by staff. To add - carpet stained, walls filthy. Manager one of the rudest and least helpful people I have ever met!!! Now 930, no bed, I. Reception with manager who is refusing to help. RECOMMENDATION - DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!
