Hyatt Hotel Canberra - a Park Hyatt5.0 out of 5.0

Over many years I have enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt in Canberra (especially the Veranda Rooms). The first class, classic ambiance, the facilities available in the Ambassador Lounge, and the excellent buffet breakfast have made my stay, each time, memorable. Enhanced by the friendliness of the staff, of course.
The room we had was excellent the hotel is beautiful the room e had was very well decorated for a honeymoon suite the staff were helpful with the valet parking putting in and out of the parking bay for us the receptionist were excellent. The only thing that should be improved is the food. On the night we ordered pumpkin soup and pasta the pasta was ok but the pumpkin soup was not so good at all. We would recommend anyone to stay at this motel but avoid the food and we will come back again one day
Don't expect modern luxury at this property as it is the quint-essential 'classic' luxury hotel. Not that this is a bad thing necessarily but they could refurbish the rooms at least a bit, especially the bathrooms in their old-fashioned marbled 'glory' are a bit of a letdown and sound proofing remains a major issue- hope to not have any functions on in the large ballroom as you can then forget about a good night- the noise and music goes through the entire annex wing of the hotel! Saying all this- you probably can't get anything better in Canberra AND the service was stunningly good. Whatever we asked to be brought to the room arrived within minutes and the housekeeping lady was lovely and friendly so I'd still recommend this place.
I have stayed here a number of times over the years. The overall quality once you get past the special occasion glitz has sadly declined compared with other major hotels in AU. In Canberra it probably still rates near the top but does not compete well otherwise with properties in other major AU cities or internationally.
For anyone wishing to stay in the nations capital Canberra I would recommend staying at the Park Hyatt the feeling you get when entering the foyer is like being welcomed buy family members, the warmth and friendliness of the staff, the decor, the food, the rooms, it is an outstanding place to stay.
The hotel is in a very nice location and whilst it is far from new, it has atmosphere. The rooms are big and well appointed. Our main gripe is the food which we regard as very ordinary for a Hyatt Hotel.
Very calm, attentive and responsive staff. Very comfortable aesthetics throughout the hotel. Lots of different spaces to enjoy the hotel. Bedrooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Bathroom facilities were excellent.
This is the second time in a row, this year, that I've been at the hotel and a function was playing music SO LOUD that I could not sleep. My door was actually vibrating. I was on the third floor and the function was on level 1 or lower. I'm sure this happens every weekend and not just the ones when I am staying. I think the hotel cares more about their functions than the guests enjoying their stay.
We had a two night stay at the Hyatt as part of a LuxuryEscape package. We found our stay to be a very pleasant experience on many levels. The most positive aspect were the staff. All the staff we met were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The room itself was very spacious and the large marble bathroom was absolute luxury. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the room itself was pleasantly furnished. My only criticism is that we found the room to be a bit warm for comfortable nighttime sleeping. The windows cannot be opened, and the air conditioning can not be lowered to more than to 18.5 degrees, which we found to be a little too warm. We were surprised at how quiet and peaceful it was. Overlooking pleasant gardens made the hotel such a pleasant setting, and of course its location was ideal, as it was so close to museums and the parliamentary circle. I would quite happily stay there again.
Wonderful hotel with Art Deco feel located in a beautiful part of Canberra. I love its garden setting and it’s link with the foundation of our National Capital. The rooms are spacious and quiet. Breakfast very adequate.
