Would have liked fresh milk and some biscuits to go with a cuppa, but overall was happy with cleanliness and staff. Our ‘suite’ was soulless but clean and comfortable and breakfast was as you would expect
fantastic friendly staff that really did their best to make sure we enjoyed our short stay. great location and services. the breakfast buffet is outstanding value and highly recommended. excellent value , you get to stay in a great motel for a very fair price. Looking forward to staying here again
This hotel is within walking distance of the CBD, large rooms with a huge bathroom. Everything you'd expect and includes secure free off street parking (open air). We stayed in the second atrium (without the bar) and it was surprisingly quiet considering our room faced Northbourne Rd. The decor is a little dated, but clean and comfortable. Bed was great, had a good nights sleep, even a TV in the bedroom. Buffet breakfast was offered at $20 each with a good selection. We chose it for the room size and location, will definitely stay there again.
I had to be in Canberra for three nights with the first night in one business role and then another two nights in my second business role. Complicated as I had to book the first night on one system and then next two on another system. I had a suite booked on night one and an apartment for the extra two nights. Rather than change rooms mid-stay I rang reception prior to arrival and the young lady said she would upgrade my first night to the apartment which was very good of her. Plus says a lot for management when they allow staff to make such decisions off the cuff. The Pavilion has been around for many years and although well maintained the decor is somewhat dated. The drab browns are due for a make-over but my guess it would be a very expensive job. The apartment was clean, comfortable with two TVs with lots of choice and a huge shower that roared like Niagara falls. No issues with water pressure! Only frustration was the aircon control. It is simply a little unmarked plastic wheel on a small box with no directions as to how to control temperature. It became a little chilly at night but I had no idea what up or down meant on the little wheel? Very dated system, but again a huge cost to update. WiFi is very iffy as when you are in the bedroom it fades away. The apartment has a separate kitchen with full size fridge, cooktop and microwave with all utensils. The highlight is the atrium area with tropical plants under the towering circus tent. I kept waiting for the highwire act to appear during dinner! It has a quality restaurant and bar with plenty of nice secluded places to have a chat and dinner. The restaurant staff are attentive and the food is very good and not overly expensive. If you don't wish to have a restaurant meal there is a small selection of lighter meals to have seated at numerous tables surrounding the bar. Meals include a range a very nice burgers/chips plus a few less unhealthy dishes at reasonable prices. Service is fast and efficient. Newspapers are available at reception. Although on busy Northbourne avenue there was little noise overnight. The hotel also has a small outdoor area with pool mainly for children. Parking was not an issue as there is a free secure carpark surrounding the property and the hotel is located close to the Dickson restaurant precinct if you prefer to eat out. Mind you getting a car park in Dickson after 6pm is a nightmare . If you prefer a much more modern room there is the seven storey Aria Hotel which is part of the same establishment and co-located just behind the Pavilion. Very modern but only has a snack cafe in the foyer. Overall a very pleasant stay particularly if you like brown.
Book in for two nights stay. Reception service was efficient and friendly and quickly given the pass to our room, which consisted of a king bed and a single bed, table and two chairs flat screen tv. Bath room divided into two areas, one containing a wash basin and alcove with fridge and tea/ coffee facilities and the other room containing a combined bath and shower as well as toilet. The bed is very comfortable, and the room temp can be adjusted to your preference. The hotel itself on entry opens up into a forest area with hidden seating for guest to relax or have a drink from the nearby bar. The roof is like a tent, with a light fabric covering that lets the outside light come inside giving a natural feel the the area. Breakfast was buffet style with all the usual selections. Tea and coffee is provided by coffee machines, or you can order from the cafe barista.
Spent a couple of days checking out some of what Canberra has to offer. The staff were great as was the food and service. The room was a little dated and needs some attention. Great central location with good secure parking.
I stayed here for 5 nights, 2 for work and then 3 for pleasure had I had never been to canberra before so tagged onto the end of an existing booking. The room and was basic but had everything listed and met all our needs, The bed was comfortable and the room very clean. Bathroom was dated a bit on the small side but had everything you needed. We had no issues with aircon like other reviews her and the tv had great choice of entertainment channels. The wifi was a bit slow and limited, but similar or even slightly better than most hotels I have stayed. The magic of this place is the indoor garden lounge and bar. The restaurant was great, the bar fantastic and really allowed you to make the most of the down time we had at the hotel. Staff were very friendly any time of the day and breakfast was good as well. This is not a 5 star hotel - but for what it is - it is great! - Perfect for a few nights in Canberra
Staff were nice but accommodation was dreadful. We had a Queen Spa Suite and there were no lamps in the living-room ( we moved one of the two bedside lamps from the bedroom), no artwork on the living room walls or cushions in living room. Drab grey colour everywhere. Broken tiles and tired fittings in the bathroom, Room A/C was completely useless - our room was over 30 deg day and night. Parking was not fantastic, but we may have been staying at a busy time. Room Service was the only bright spot - great range of choices, good value and tasted great. We would not choose to return to this hotel following our experience.
Please Don't stay here.We never will again. We travel at least 2 months of the year to many destinations around the world & hotels, & we have never left a bad review, but this hotel deserves it. The foyer may look great but the air conditioning in the room is so old that you can't turn it off, outdated with 1 speed only ( HIGH ) and is louder than on an international flight. We called reception a number of times with no assistance, finally had enough and asked for someone to come and see if the noise is normal, he said yes and that all you have to do is put another pillow on your other ear to subdue the noise. Are you serious ? absolute joke. Left with no sleep, dry throat and a massive migrane. Staff don't care
My 12 yr old child, his friend and I had a lovely time. Lovely to sit amongst the trees in the cool atrium for dinner and the pool was a respite during the heat of summer. The pool wasn't over crowed and the large TV screens in the atrium kept us across the tennis. Food plates are on the larger side and I couldn't justify the breakfast at $60 for 3 of us as I knew we wouldn't eat it all. The room was nicely decorated and clean.
