Holiday Inn Calgary-Airport

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Apart from some features like being close to airport and free shuttle service and clean rooms, this hotel does not feel worth the money that is charged for the rooms. Hotel restaurant and food is below average and very pricey. And since there are hardly any other places to eat close by, you are stuck with bad / slow service in the sunset grill.

I'm actually a big fan of Holiday Inn and I've stayed there many times all over the place. This hotel, however, I find out is owned and operated independently and it really does show. The service staff in the restaurant were kind of friendly, but not very quick. I don't mean service-wise, I mean, understanding our orders. I didn't have any issues with the night front desk staff, but my sister did. Over and over again. They were (according to her) rude and unhelpful. Her keys demagnetized many times and it was a really big hassle to get back into the room. The food was really sub-par, too. The eggs every day were rubbery. My mom's pancakes could barely be cut with a knife. She handled it gracefully and laughed it off, but it was embarrassing. I felt bad because the hotel is much more expensive than a standard Marriott or even the Radisson across the street. There was construction going on in the front area so the lobby entrance was blocked off, the entire pavement was dug up, and the only way in and out was via stairs. Not really a problem unless you're hauling heavy luggage or your husband uses a cane. I understand that repairs and upgrades happen and I suppose I would have forgiven it easily but for the poor quality of nearly everything, but the room's housekeeping. The room, on the other hand, there was a gap behind the shower head (it'll need to be replaced soon), the fridge was completely off-balance and tottered every time I'd open it. The TV reception while we watched a $15 pay-per-movie wavered. On the plus side, location-wise, it's a mere 10 minutes drive from the airport, which was exactly the reason I chose it. It's located right on 16th, which seems to be the main drag in Calgary. I'd have to say that this was a massive disappointment from the top notch service I've received both in North Vancouver, B.C. and San Diego Holiday Inns. Big big difference. I don't know if it's the privately owned and operated or what. It just utterly did not compare.

The location to the airport was convienient and it was nice having a restaraunt/bar located right in the hotel since I arrived late. I will stay there again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. A little noisy on the second floor.

Good location for the price. Stayed one night on our way to Banff. Easily accessible from the airport. Clean and priced right!

While in calgary on business this was a good place to stay as it was close to the airport and other local locations I had to visit

It was your basic Hotel Stay Worked the whole time so did not explore. Same.

We were able to let half our party drop off the rental car while the rest of us were able to get online and check in for the next days flight. Then had a wonderful dinner at the hotel..played some slots in the lounge..met some nice people then had a very comfortable nights sleep. The room was more than I expected. Wish we would havd checked in earlier, but had to see the ZOO.

THE HOTEL WAS NEAT, CLEAN, AND HAD ALL THE AMENITIES. i WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY BUSINESS OR PLEASURE TRAVELERS AS IT'S ALL THERE.

Excellent freindly staff at desk. Construction ongoing on 2nd floor where I stayed. Not enough staff in restuarant. Have to call for a cab. More family oriented than business oriented.

just spent the night

Hotel was clean and quiet, front desk not very helpful and shuttle service was late. Bathtub facet dripped.

unorganized shuttle pick up had us waiting at the airport.

We used this hotel as our night stop before flying out of Calgary. It is a nice hotel, easy to find and very clean. It has a nice restaurant and pool and fitness center. It was pretty quite, but we did stay on mid week. The rooms felt a little small and the shower was really small, but other than that, the room was clean and nice. I would definitely stay here again, it is very nice and convienant to the airport with free shuttle.

The pet fee was not disclosed when we book the hotel so was caught off guard. Traveled to Banff National Park which was great

This hotel is called Holiday Inn Calgary Airport, which leads you to think that it is really close to the airport, but it is not. However, the distance is not too bad. The rooms are comfortable, albeit small; the one we stayed in had a very strange placement of the bathroom. Room was very clean though, and the beds are super comfortable. I would stay there again.

stayed for flight out next morning...so it was clean, and all went very well It was noisy due to planes taking off and car traffic, but if the air was on and windows closed ok.

This was a wonderful hotel. It was close to the airport and has a 24 hour airport shuttle.

The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and the room service food was the best I've ever had at a hotel.

The staff was very helpful and even offered to move my luggage to new room for me.
