We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful hotel, located close to nearly all sights of Budapest. Rooms are nice and clean , breakfast is fine, buffet type. Parking is not a problem, many places are available.
So this is not what UK would call 4 star but a solid 3 star. The rooms were clean and tidy and spacious. Bathrooms were clean and spacious too. Cleaners cleaned well too. Location is ok , not in the centre but walkable in about 25 minutes. However be mindful the walk is downhill...we didn't try to come back up the hill to the hotel as I think this would have annoyed us. Breakfast is ok and sets you up well for the day. We were very worried on Saturday night when we were the only people in the restaurant , however I must say the food is fantastic ! Really tasty and well presented. I had lasagne and some rosemary potatoes . My partner had goulash. The main and only downpoint as to why I didn't give this review 5 stars is the reception staff. Sadly , apart from the lady , the men were not engaging and it seemed like you were "disturbing" them. Maybe being more friendly and outgoing would help. Lastly the air cooling system had an annoying buzzer going off in the night. We ended up turning it off. Reception man wasn't willing to help. All in all, good stay.
I made a reservation at Gold Hotel Wine and Dine – Budapest (advertised as 4 star hotel – which in fact it is hardly an average 3 star hotel) on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 9.30 AM. I thought that I reserved one apartment for two persons sold via Booking.com for an amount of 590 Euro. Unfortunately, after I completed the invoice with the required details I noticed that something must have gone totally wrong: on the invoice instead of the advertised cost, namely 513.95 Euro, there appeared a doubled amount, namely 1021.95 Euro. Seems that, while I placed the order something happened and eventually I have been charged for two apartments, instead of the requested one. In that very moment, (at 9.31 AM), I immediately tried to edit our order, but the system did not allow such operation. Not being able to edit, correct our order I cancelled it at 9.31 AM, one minute after placing the order. I contacted Gold Hotel Wine and Dine by phone on 09.05.2017 and explained to the hotel-manager the situation, issue: we booked one room but somehow we ended up with two rooms on the invoice, we wanted to edit the placed order, but because we could not edit it we have been forced to cancel it. I also explained her that we are still willing to spend our vacation at Gold hotel, but because we are only two persons we really do not need two apartments. Initially she told me that her hands are tied by the contract signed with Booking.com, so being conditioned by this contract she is unable to behave as she would like to and therefore she cannot pay back the sum debited from our card for the second, unrequested apartment. When I told her that the Booking operators told us that Booking has nothing against returning us the half of the already debited sum, she told me that we prejudiced the hotel, because due to our order she could not sell the other apartment to other customers. When I told her that her claim concerning an eventual prejudice does not stand, because between placing the order and cancelling the order did not pass more than one minute, she blamed the stipulations of the contract signed by the hotel with Booking.com, which does not allow paying back sums to customers who placed an order on items which have been sold with a discount. In our case she told me that the discount was 15%. I would like to stress that even with discount the service offered by this hotel is over-priced because it is no way a 4 star hotel. Not willing to lose all the money already debited from our card, we decided to live up our order and spend our vacation at this hotel in one of the pre-paid apartments. Being on the spot I take this opportunity to stress that Gold Hotel Wine and Dine places phony, untrue adverts, namely does not inform its potential customers that not all rooms and apartments are placed in the hotel, but a big majority of its apartments are placed in an adjacent shabby block of houses. As the attached pictures prove Gold Hotel Wine and Dine is not a 4 start hotel, therefore all discounts offered are trickery.
We were warmly greeted, and within minutes of our checkin-we were sold a Danube Dinner Cruise. Understandable that this was promoted however we felt slightly bombarded. After the initial meeting we found that over our 3 night stay, the male staff were not as open, welcoming and friendly. In our room, our small fridge froze our food. We asked twice for dish soap and toilet paper before we had to go, meet with the room attendant to get this-and so their seemed to be a disconnect between the front desk staff and the room attendants. The room was clean and quiet, the location was great, and overall we enjoyed our stay. The bus stop is close and for the most part, the front desk did provide a good deal of helpful information even though we did not find they were overly friendly.
Hotel is on Buda side. Up a hill from the Elizabeth Bridge. Sightseeing bus stop (Citadel) is 'round the corner up another hill'. Normal bus stop also available. For a sightseeing holiday of Budapest I would recommend staying Pest side. This hotel was not Wine & Dine and although it was fine and served a purpose it was disappointing. The retaurant was closed during our time there for maintenance I understand. Breakfast was not inspiring and did not set us up for the day. No tea/coffee facilities in room and no other way to have. At 10pm coming in from a long cold day of sightseeing... this would have been appreciated. The 'double bed' was two singles together and although this could have been overlooked in addition there were two single quilts...For us this was bed and breakfast however as we only needed somewhere to lay our head and keep our things it was fine. Clean enough too. Most staff were friendly. Although night concierge not so much...and not helpful!
Stayed here for 5 nights , very well presented hotel clean and tidy . Bedrooms very nice and clean also modern bathroom but only shower no bath . Mini bar, television and wi fi on each floor. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only downside is the restraunt is closed due to maintenance work but breakfast is still available . Located on the Buda side of the city so a little quieter than the pest side. Good bus service to city center and also a very pleasant walk crossing over the elizabeth bridge to access the city . If you hire a car be aware that the locals drive at avery fast pace .
We stayed in an apartment in the grounds of this hotel, and having the space was just fantastic! The hotel is ideally situated, with a bus straight into the centre of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. There are also two great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel if you are tired from a day of sight seeing - Janos to the left, and another, I'm not sure of the name (lo Covaro?) to the right. ATM across the road from hotel. Excellent Wi-fi, but TV only had one english station (only downside). Tip: Get bus 8E (3 or 4 stops) into the centre, very regular service.
Had a lovely stay here for three nights. This hotel represents great value for money. It is spotlessly clean and has been fitted out to a high standard. The staff were helpful and courteous, providing us with sound advice when needed. The breakfast never failed to set us up for the day. The ' large double bed' was huge and the room was a good size. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that the restaurant was closed, ostensibly for "maintenance" but I suspect it just doesn't turn a profit out of season. All in all, a lovely, memorable stay.
I was very happy about this hotel!!! good position very cleaned room with wood into floor and big television wc very cleaned to the right hours! breakfast various with different type of cookies!!! the weak point are the room too hot but it's enough to make register from the workers.
Good hotel with pros and cons: Pros: This hotel is in Buda, next to a hill which is a very nice area to go for a relaxing walk. It is also ok for its price range, and the room are big compared to an average hotel room. The staff is very helpful and there also a restaurant at the basement where breakfast is also served. It also has a parking which is great if you are travelling by car. No noise from the street as the hotel has double windows. Cons: Depending on the room, you can hear people on the hallway, so it can be annoying if you want to sleep early. Breakfast is average at best. The decor and furniture is a bit old style. It is 2km from the city center which means that you will most probably need a taxi to travel if you don't have a car but the staff can call a taxi for you if needed.
