We stayed at the Duke over a weekend and had the perfect stay. We had a large room overlooking the garden, the Mary of Burgundy Suite. It came with spacious bathroom, jacuzzi bath, jack n jill sinks. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food. The bar was relaxing, attentive service with beautiful decor. The hotel is a short Taxi ride from the train station, it has a car park and is a 3-minute walk from the centre of Bruges. Free wifi, Gym is small, with some of the machines not working. The Spa is fine, Steam, Sauna, etc.
My fiancee and I stayed the night on a city trip to Brugges and we couldn't have chosen better hotel. We were quite early on arrival but the lady on reception was fantastic and pre checked us in and took our luggage to keep safe so we could start our wander around Brugges. The room was really spacious, very clean as you would expect from a 5 star hotel and a real nice luxury feel. The bed was very comfy and in all honesty didn't want to go back out after resting on it! Great service on checking out and I would highly recommend staying here on your trip to this wonderful city.
A luxurious hotel perfectly located for the centre of Bruges. The entrance to parking is behind the hotel and a little difficult to find due to the centre one way system. The hotel is what you would expect from a five star hotel, it has character with the wonderful turret and our room was through the chapel, which again was a special experience. The room was spacious and had everything you need. The bar service was excellent. a thoroughly enjoyable place to stay and city to visit.
Stayed here to not only explore Bruges but also to have a well deserved rest! We arrived in the evening and check-in was quite quick until the receptionist started to give us a quick 'tour' of Bruges on a map. Very helpful but not after a 3 hour trip. We booked a junior suite - the lights in the room is not sufficient which makes it quite dark in quite a nice and pleasant room. Room service consisted of only 5 items - not what you expect from a 5-star hotel. When I phoned reception I was told that those 5 items were the only thing available for room service.... I decided to go to the restaurant, order the food and bring it to the hotel room myself. But to my surprise when you order in the restaurant they will bring it to your room (EUR 6 charge).... and the food is DELICIOUS! The bed pillows are cheap and nasty (foam) - ask for softer pillow - they do have them - you just have to ask for it... Otherwise the hotel is very well located within the center of Bruges and perfect service. Shame it is let down on some important items you expect from a 5-star hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a Rhineland Discovery package with Viking. Having said that what a Pleasant Surprise and Special Treat this hotel was! The hotel is very centrally located in Bruges, and it is Absolutely Beautiful! The Staff could not have been any more Courteous or Accommodating! The room itself was pure comfort at every level, and surprisingly very LARGE by European standards with excellent closet space. The very spacious bathroom was filled with quality toiletries, and the water pressure and hot water were perfect! Our package included the buffet breakfast which had everything on it you could possibly imagine including a variety of blocks of various Belgium chocolate and CHAMPAGNE! Mimosas anyone? Surprising to us was just how QUIET our stateroom was. Also, such nice touches with fresh flowers in vases and aromatic candles lit all over the lobby area; it smelled just lovely. We have stayed in other luxurious hotels before, and this one ranks at the TOP! Meticulously clean, and by Luxurious hotel standards (I researched pricing), affordable for Europe. I absolutely Recommend this Hotel! First class experience all the way!
Really smart, clean and historic 5* hotel in a central location, but quiet and in a private space away from street traffic. Breakfast is buffet style but very good, bar is excellent. Room clean and well equipped, we had very large king size bed. Taxi from station just 7 euros.
The hotel is beautiful and despite obvious renovations and add on buildings. It retains its charm and originality. We has a standard room which was enough and very pleasant looking over the garden. The bed was amazing and we are spoilt at home with a wonderful bed. This was just what was needed after exploring the town. The bar area is very nice indeed. Very comfortable and although bust while we were there still intimate. We did not try the restaurant but the breakfast was very good. A wide selection and something for most. We found the receptionists very knowledgeable and helpful indeed. The restaurant advised for the first night was exactly what we required. We did have an issue with our in room heating not working. That said i do expect things to fail sometimes even in a 5 star hotel. 5 star or 2 star. If its going to stop working it will. The measure for myself is how it is dealt with and resolved. We were first provided a heater until the problem was resolved and give a bar voucher for our troubles. It took about 30 mins to rectify and the free drink was welcomed. No issues and no dramas. The location of the hotel is great and within walking distance to anything worth seeing. That said Bruges is so small every hotel is. The joy of Dukes is it is just off a side road so no noise or through traffic. We had a great time here and i would not hesitate to recommend it to people
First of all I wouldn't put this Hotel at 5 Star, it appears to be one of those hotels that ticks all off all the boxes to be a 5 Star Hotel officially and that's it. I have stayed in 4 Star Hotels before just a stones throw away from this hotel even, that have been miles better in comparison. I booked this for me and my partner (our first holiday away together) and had high hopes being the only 5 Star Hotel in Bruges, however even though we booked it 6-7 weeks in advance the service was terrible from the beginning. We both had emailed the hotel multiple times weeks before our stay at multiple times from both our email addresses and we STILL haven't received replies weeks after our visit which I find highly unprofessional. Next, when we arrived at the hotel our room wasn't ready even though we has signed up to the 'Prestige Club' which gave us early check in at 11am, we didn't get the keys to our room until 3pm! Despite everything I though the Hotel itself looked very appealing (though the don't think the upkeep of the rooms was 5 Star). I found the reception staff to be very unapproachable and borderline rude, however redeemed by the bar staff who were very nice and helpful. Another gripe was that I'd booked a room with a double bed and this was made up of two single beds pushed together (I hate that). Breakfast was nice and was worth the money. All in all I will give them a 3/5. Next time I will be returning the Hotel Prinsenhof just outside instead.
Recently stayed for 2 nights with my sister and adult son and really enjoyed the hotel. The location is excellent for exploring the city. The rooms were beautiful. We enjoyed the bar, the breakfasts and would recommend staying here. I only wish the weather was warmer so we could have enjoyed their lovely outdoor dining areas.
The hotel is situated about 2 minutes walk from the main square, and in the major shopping street. It has an excellent garage, rare in Bruges, and excellent service from the staff, who all speak great English. I had a very relaxing 2 day stay, and would recommend the hotel unreservedly
