Perhaps we had "the wrong guy at the wrong time"-scenario but I can't say that I was thrilled when I arrived on sunday in this hotel. The reception clerk was very interested in his pc-screen and left us standing there a while. After his unfriendly registration he told us the room wasn't ready yet. So when we came back later there were 2 reception "helpers". They were talking with a guest they seemed to know and both of them just ignored us. Till I politely but firmly attracted their attention. Having finally received the room key we found out that (imo) we'd gotten the oldest room available. The hotel has a parking with pretty small parking spaces. When we went for breakfast nobody said good morning but in their defense they did say goodbye. 1 out off 2. The choices on the buffet were limited but the food was ok. All in all, pretty disappointing.
Our room was nice, spacious and clean. The beds/pillows were good. We were overlooking the inner court and it was really quiet. We had a terrace, but it was flooded. Draining should be forseen. The bathroom had some minor issues (the water hose of the shower needed to be replaced because it leaked water and the small button to flush the toilet wasn't working). But overall the room was nice. The breakfast was good, enough variety and friendly people working in that area. The hotel is located in a nice quiet environment, but it's a walk to the center ... Check in is only possible after 3 pm but you must have your key to the room before 11pm as the doors close ... So we had to walk back to the hotel to check in before dinner and we lost about 40 minutes. But our first impression of the hotel ... the reception ... was not a good one: no smile, stressed out impression, walking around with a sigh behind the desk, information on the hotel was given on a monotone way of being bored to be constantly repeating the same sentences. And that is the image that lasts ... the reception ... bad first impression ... we were shocked. When we walked out we overheared the receptionist complaining about other customers ... For us not a 4 star accomodation ... more 3 star ... but most of all ... with that kind of "welcoming" at the reception ... 2 star. Ask V C about Hotel Medici
I travelled to this hotel with my family for my mums 60th Birthday celebrations (6 adults and a 2 year old) in January for 1 night. I have to be honest I wasn’t expecting much as we booked late but I was pleasantly surprised. The pictures don’t do the hotel justice, it’s so lovely. In my opinion a great location to the centre and a very scenic 10 minute walk. Car parking was so easy right outside the hotel door and you can pay with you phone if you don’t have and coins for the machine. The staff at reception we so incredibly helpful and friendly I cannot thank them enough for making our stay so great. Our rooms were perfect. We had 3 rooms and all were next door to each other. They were all new and so clean. We were very impressed. Breakfast was great and very yummy. We did struggle to get a table for the 7 of us but I think we went at peak time and it was busy. But we didn’t have to wait long. Thank you so much we will 100% stay here on our next visit to Bruges and will definitely recommend your hotel.
Mid-January, after the excesses of Xmas and the New Year, is a quiet time in Bruges and the hotel was very quiet, This was fine for us - but it may have a very different atmosphere in the summer. The location is very good, only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Markt in the centre, but quiet as a result. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. Our room was spacious and well equipped with plenty of storage, tea/coffee making, TV (inc BBC), hairdryer and safe. We ate a bar meal on our first night and the food was no more or less than you would expect - a reasonable choice and reasonably tasty. Breakfast provided a range of cereals (limited), bread, croissant, cold meats and cheeses as well as hot alternatives. However, the coffee from a machine, did not do it for me. We will return to Bruges and we will definitely use this hotel again.
The hotel is conveniently located with the center of town being a 10 min walk. The rooms are large and spacious and the beds comfortable. The hotel is quite spread out and this is deceptive when you look at it from the outside. The check in process was smooth and quick, but that was pretty much the end of the service. There was hardly any at breakfast and one had to ask for basic things like cups to be kept near the coffee counter (no biggie though since it was quite busy). I appreciated the fact that they let us keep our bags at the hotel for a few hours after the check out.
Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It’s about 10 minutes walk from the main square. So you are just away from the busiest part, but not far to walk and in a peaceful area by the water. Everything about are stay was perfect. Rooms comfortable and good breakfast to keep you going for the day. Thankyou for making our time in Bruges amazing.
A fantastic location just a stone's throw away from the centre of the city. The walk back each night after dinner was quiet, peaceful and relaxing, with views from the hotel out to the canals and just a fantastic peaceful atmosphere. It was so good to get away from the hustle and bustle of many busier cities, and Bruges was fantastic, with plenty to see and do.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, delicious breakfast . Beautiful view from the window, opposite the canal. Nearby there is a supermarket. There is a possibility to park the car. Hotel is located in the old town
We stayed here as part of a SuperBreak weekend. The hotel, 10 minute walk from the main square alongside a canal was modern and comfortable. Our room was upgraded and we had room 123. It was huge with a sofa and easy chair. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The bar had a 20%off happy hour in the early evening? No complaints or adverse comments at all
Hotel was a great location to explore Bruges from. Very clean, loved the bar area and Japanese garden. Very friendly staff especially one of the bar staff who was very helpful. Breakfast was good and very busy.
