Clean room, ability to have access to room supplies if needed, (such as extra washcloths, ones designated just for makeup low-key brilliant, coffee or tea supplies) and a game/lounge room were a plus. There was an outdoor fire pit/grill area for guests to access. Walking diagonally across the street to DD, after dark on a cold December evening, I realized how appreciative I was of the sidewalk from the hotel and onto the street. It had also snowed while we were there, but there was plenty of parking and things seemed to be adequately salted or sanded. Since neither of us in our party wanted to actually drive into downtown Salem or fight for parking, we just got an Uber. We also ordered in our first night and no issues with delivery finding our room, or them having any issues with parking but maybe it is also probably considered off season for major tourism. Deep soaking tub was also an important factor in booking. There is train going by in the distance, not crazy loud considering I lived right next to railroad tracks coming from Northern Maine, and booking a house for a week in Pennsylvania, next to train tracks with the train going by every couple of hours round the clock, this was absolutely doable for me.

Room 116 specifically has this bright light in the air conditioner that really disrupted my sleep. House keeping didn’t really make the bed or change sheets. It’s a cool place to stay because it’s so close to downtown Salem. I was not in the themed room but in the suite. Everything was brand new in clean. The service was just pretty subpar.

Our room at The Cove felt like a small home away from home when my partner and I visited Salem for a weekend trip! Great amenities (microwave, dishes, and sink were a plus), and having a TV in both the living room and bedroom made winding down after a long day that much better. Joe and all the front-desk staff were so friendly and helpful. And it was only a ~15-20 min walk or a ~5-7 min Lyft away from downtown Salem! Would book there again.

We were very impressed with this cozy little hotel. We stayed in the double queen with a kitchen (non themed room) and it had everything we needed for a lovely weekend. The beds were very comfy and the decor was on theme for Salem. Also, the staff was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay here again when we come back.
