The only reason to stay here is if you like to listen to highway noise constantly. I don't mean cars going by. I mean semis engine braking constantly. It never stops and it sounds like it's right outside the window. We are supposed to stay here for two more nights, but I don't think I can that long with no sleep. The room is fine. Nothing special considering the high cost. As a bonus, even the air conditioning unit is one of the noisiest I've ever heard in a hotel room. The man who checked us in, John, was the only bright spot. He was very nice and welcoming. That's not enough of a reason to stay here. Stay away if you want any sleep.
After driving from Charleston and being in a wedding and all the festivities all weekend I was exhausted. The check in was a bit of a hassle due to my name being "incorrect" I am a second so I have an "II" at the end of my name and they wouldn't allow me to check in because it was labeled as Ii. Finally after a 30 minute call was able to get in my room. The room was simple, modern and clean, nothing special. The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular.
Newer Fairfield property but well run... had a little check in trouble at the front desk but Preston and Rick stepped in and all went smoothly. Lots of parking, quiet rooms ( on the front side - otherwise rear faces Interstate ) ... but overall a 4.5 star place !
Due to travel delays, I did not arrive until after 1 am. The front door was locked and I had to buzz to be let in. There was no response just someone appearing a minute or so later. I was disappointed to find that the room had no seating area only the desk. I am used to having a separate seating area at these hotels. Breakfast was ok. I agree with the reviewer who complained about the noise. I heard traffic noise all night long.
It’s not often I review a hotel while I’m at the hotel, but this hotel has been so bad, I wanted to warn others not to stay here. The hotel is literally on the highway. Highway noise cannot be drowned out by the fan on the air conditioning. There are older teens literally running the halls on our floor and above our floor playing a game and throwing a ball against the hallway walls. They were asked three times to stop. It’s the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Fairfield Inn. My profile requests a quiet room. There is no peace to be had at this property. Stay somewhere else.
Vacation is upon us... The trip began in Texas and headed east to South Carolina. Along the way a break was needed for rest and sleep because there’s no way the three-year-old was going to be calm being in a car for the duration. That’s where Kelly stepped in. I booked a room for the family, used Mobile Check-In and added notes through the app. I followed that up with a phone call to the property. I was extremely thankful that Kelly answered the call. She took the time to listen to me, engaged in the conversation and made me feel resoundingly relaxed knowing my family would be taken care of in an exceptional fashion. Now Kelly could have just stopped there, but that’s not her style. Smiles and service were delivered and the much needed rest was secured. Thank you Kelly and the rest of the Fairfield Inn Team! You are all truly excellent and great people!
Overall we enjoyed our recent stay Fairfield by Marriott located in the Colonnade in Birmingham. Excellent location off of 280 and I459 and close to numerous offices and a large hospital as well as Summit Mall and the many restaurant options in the area. We arrived early and check in was handled by Wendie at the front desk. While she was friendly she missed a couple of elements of the check in process that would have further enhanced the experience. She confirmed our room type and length of stay, took an ID and credit card. She did recognize my status on Marriott Bonvoy and offered 500 bonus points or a treat from the market. We took a couple of candy bars as our treat. She gave us two keys, she did not thank us for our loyalty to Marriott nor did she us our name in the transaction. Our guest room was overall clean. One light bulb was blew out next to the desk and never replaced during our 5 night stay. I love the mini fridge in the room and single cup coffee makers. I prefer a stand up shower and was happy that this hotel has included them. My one complaint in the guest room is the toilet paper, it is the cheapest quality available and so thin that you have pull out a lot for proper use. Hoteliers have a misconception that they are saving money buying the cheapest when in fact it is probably costing them more with clogged toilets,, etc. This hotel doesn't offer hand lotion in the amenity package. I leave a tip every morning for the room attendant and was pleasantly surprised to see a thank you note from the room attendant. Nice touch. Our room key was a challenge to open our guest room door, never working on the first few tries. We thought one time we were going to be stuck in the elevator as the door wouldn't open when coming to our floor. It finally did but this should be checked. On Sunday morning we departed early and no one was available at the Front Desk to print a copy of our charges. I miss the day when you got an invoice under your door at check out. Wifi and tv worked great, no issues. No newspapers available in the lobby. We left early every morning so we did not eat breakfast on this trip. We appreciated a bowl of apples left out every afternoon. Overall a good stay. There is an outdoor pool, and excellent fitness/exercise room available. Guest room noise is loud for the rooms next to the Interstate 459, recommend you ask for a room on the other side of the guest corridor to help filter out some of the noise. Overall a good stay. Hopefully Marriott fixes the toilet tissue issue.
We had business here in Birmingham & stayed at this property. Nice & clean hotel. The rooms were comfortable & the bed was very comfortable. Did not have breakfast here so no idea about how good or bad it was. Simple but nice.
The hotel is quite new which is a plus. Although I had a room on the rear the freeway noise wasn’t too bothersome. The layout was nice and bed was very comfortable. Had three restful nights. The workout room is large and uncluttered which was great. Oftentimes the workout rooms at FFInns are tiny. The equipment worked great except tv channels on treadmill and elliptical couldn’t be changed presumably unless headphones were plugged in. Since I had apple headphones I couldn’t use them but it still would’ve been nice to be able to change the channel. The staff were all very friendly as well. The breakfast did lack a bit. All the baked goods were pre-packaged. Fresh baked goods would be better. The eggs were from powder or some reheated / reconstituted mixture. There was very little fresh fruit. It’s a nice area and convenient to freeways.
Good clean comfortable room. Loved the steam shower after a long day of driving. Our check in was good except we couldn't get the app key to work on opening the door to get into the hotel. It was very late at night and we used the bell several times and the front desk associate didn't come out of the back to open the door so I had to call and then it was resolved, was just a minor inconvenience . Location was good and near the freeway and in a safe area. Would defiantly stay here again
