Great service/Good Location, the St. Regis was good enough for President Trump to stay here 2 months ago! Safe & secure and English speaking attentive staff. Adjacent/Attached pool & Jacuzzi with one of the best hotel gyms I've ever seen! Great happy hour each 5-7 pm with free appetizers & champagne in "The Press Room." Safe environment to walk in but not in a touristy area, which can be a bad and good thing. Rooms quiet but shower is a climb over the very high side of a bathtub to get in/out; seemed a bit dangerous. Just outside of the 2nd ring road so close to Forbidden City & Tienanmen Square.
We stayed for a total of seven nights in January, 2018. The rooms are large, spotless, and the butler service is an added treat. We appreciated being able to order coffee or tea at any time. The complementary happy hour in the bar from 5 to 7 every evening was amazing. The hotel is very convenient to the metro system.The staff were all very helpful and courteous. The free Wi-Fi worked well in our room in the common areas. Taxis are very reasonable. We had no problem finding transportation from the hotel to popular tourist sites.
Our stay at the Saint Regis hotel was definitely one of the best stays we have had at any of the 5 star hotels that we frequent. My family and I travel frequently and stay at many hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria and the Ritz Carlton but this hotel is still definitely in our top five list. Everyone at the Saint Regis was very helpful, but two employees, Neil and Michael were especially helpful and went above and beyond the expectations to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The hotel itself was very nice, had beautiful décor, and was definitely five star standard. The room had everything we needed to feel at home during our stay. We only stayed in China for one day and because of that we wanted to make the most of it, and the hotel made many great arrangements for us including an English speaking tour guide which is very important. We hope we get the opportunity to go back and stay at that hotel.
Weekends are always a challenge as to what to do and recently I have had the pleasure of being a guest for the Sunday Brunch and was impressed. We all know that many hotels have used the brunch to herd in a mass of people eating for the next week but here at The St. Regis - its just a wonderful calming experience. Food choices are ample, prepared and served by attentive helpful staff, the beverage selection great..... ice cold beer, Moet, Bloody Mary's round off a truly wonderful luncheon. Well done to all who lead the day, keep it up and see you again soon.
I am an SPG Platinum member and have stayed at all SPG hotels in Beijing. I think the St Regis Beijing is one of the best SPG properties in the city. However, my stay was still quite average. Here are my observations: - On arrival at 01:00 it was around -7°C out and there was no one out the front of the property. I was watched by one of the night workers standing inside the lobby while we got our luggage out of the car, and was given a welcome when we finally got inside. I was taken aback that he didn’t come out to offer his assistance. - As a Platinum member I was upgraded to a Statesman Suite that, to my shock, didn’t have a king bed -- I believe it was a queen. Very unusual. - No mention of SPG Platinum welcome amenity at check-in nor welcome note found in the room. No fruit basket in the room. - No remote control for the TV in the mirror in the bathroom. The remote holder was present but remote was absent. - At checkout, we stored our luggage at the property as our flight wasn't till midnight. One of our luggage items was a fabric bag that has some sealed Cup Noodles in it. At first we were quite rudely told by the junior concierge that we can't store our bags because we had food, and after trying to reason with him that they were sealed, with no success, we had to escalate to the duty manager before we were given the ok. We had been carrying around these noodles for more than a week and had been to 4 other SPG properties that didn't seem to have a problem with us storing them temporarily. This event was the last interaction we had with the property and left a bad taste. One of the best parts of this property is that you can actually control the temperature of your room, unlike the W Beijing in the next block. Many properties in Beijing have a central heating system and I find during winter it is set to unbelievably hot temperatures that makes it difficult to sleep. The STR Beijing allows you control the climate in your room (and the thermostat controls actually work). Also, if you can spare 15 minutes I recommend taking the short walk to check out the gym and pool area. It's extremely spacious and from my experience always mostly empty. There is also a squash court on B2 under the Iridium Spa that had an eerie feeling to it. Taxi from hotel to the airport cost CNY120.
I was assisted by quite a number of concierge and porters, i'm sorry if i left out some of their names. Neil I remembered was the one who assisted me with my luggage and was very nice to welcome me to Beijing, whilst Clarence assisted me to book a ticket . entrance to some attraction spots. And Fred for being ever so kind to assist me with my taxi booking, for initiating to rush the taxi before it upsets us. It was during winter when i stayed there and in that cold weather outside the hotel, their passion towards their job didn't seem to freeze. Don't forget to visit the press bar during your stay, freeflow cocktail and tapas in the evening with friendly staff there.
Stayed there for 3 nights in November, the hotel is a bit old, sometimes you can hear next door conversations in the room. The room is spacious, good location, not too far away from major tourist spots. Tried the dinner buffet, food selection is not that much but acceptable, surprised me there was hairy crab, the little down side was the chef at buffet counter didn't know how should I order the hairycrab, instead I have to ask few wait staff to take my order. It's a bit weired I was at the hairy crab counter but have to go back to my table to order. The service quality of the buffet restaurant could be improved as the staff were simply not patience and it was very easy to read their behaviors... They want all the guests to leave at 9:30 when the buffet was finished, and if you are not leaving they will stand next to you and make loud sound like clearing the cutlery. If I were here again I don't think I will try the buffet. However I must say the Concierge team was superb! Expecially Neil! I didn't plan for anything about my trip, and when I first arrived the hotel, I approached the Concierge for tips and suggestions. Neil almost helped to plan everything of our 3 day travel, he planned the route based on my visit requirements, then he arranged the limo, and helped me to buy the tickets to forbidden city. And the next day morning I left the hotel to the great Wall at 6:30, he reminded the driver to take us to a restaurant for breakfast before we asked for that. How sweet! I can really feel his hospitality. Thank you Neil 😊
We stayed for one night and loved it. The attention to detail was second to none. We received a baby pack in our room which included a bath, wipes, steriliser, and baby shampoo. The evening ritual was lovely , with a great selection of complementary drinks in the bar. We had the champagne Sunday brunch and could not fault it, we were greeted by name and had special dishes cooked that were not on the menu... first class. I would definitely go back...
Stayed in the suite for 2 nights, it came with some benefits but I didnt' get a chance to attend the rituals or enjoy the afternoon tea. Staff all seem nice and eager to help. My only complaint is that the room is slightly outdated, especially after staying at W nearby, which is a new newer hotel.
We just finished our first trip to Beijing. Our travel agent recommended the St. Regis and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. The breakfast buffet is excellent - there is a great selection of both Western and Chinese options. At the airport after checking out, I realized that I had not packed several silk scarves we had purchased during our visit. My wife called the St. Regis and talked to Eric, the head butler. He went to our room, found the scarves, and mailed them out to us that same day. The service during our entire stay was wonderful, but Eric went above and beyond.
