This is an average Residence Inn. The location is convenient to shopping and right off the freeway, but that plus is also a negative. It was relatively full at the time, so we were placed in a room facing the freeway. There was pretty constant freeway noise, so that detracting greatly from the stay. The room was not the newest, but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and not crowded. Staff was friendly and reasonably attentive.
And this comes from someone with 500 hotel nights in the past 3 years as we travel the country celebrating our recent retirements. This is also our 2nd stay here at this fantastic hotel. Consider: you get a text message asking how your room is within moments of checking in… you get another 2 days later asking you to rate your stay on a scale of 1-10… breakfast is everything you always get at RI and more… the Evening Mix during our time was BBQ’d brisket (M), chicken breasts (Tu) and Red Beans/Rice (Wed)… the Laundry Room is spotless and everything works (ditto the business center)… staffers are beyond polite and helpful – they are especially friendly… the hotel is walking distance to an array of eateries, as well as a WalMart… windows open for a breeze… the Fitness Room has plenty of towels, as does the outdoor pool. Special thanks to Kaneesha and Candice getting us into our Titanium-upgraded room immediately on our arrival… Sean for coming to the rescue when we had a toilet malfunction… and GM Stacie for making this the best Residence Inn we’ve ever stayed in. No surprise we can’t wait to return!
I have generally had good experiences with Residence Inns. This one is the poorer I have stayed in. Asked for a quiet room and was placed within, what seemed like, five feet from the interstate. I-10 is one of the busiest highways in America. Traffic, especially trucks, never stops. I would change hotels if they don’t give you a room facing away from I-10. The room also has a nice collection of bugs. Killed some but some got away. Big ones too. Finally, the property is not really walkable to many restaurants, etc. (with the exception of one or two not so nice ones). You’ll need to drive a short distance for even fast food. The staff is quite friendly except for one person who worked the breakfast area in the morning. Loved the front desk people.
We have stayed at many Marriott properties and have never had any complaints. This property however is the exception to the rule. We were in town for our sons wedding and needed the 2 room suites. We wouldn't have stayed if the other Residence Inn in town had had rooms available. Only stay here if you like cockroaches, open drug needles, peeling bathtubs, filthy windows, vents that won't close, closet door tracks that are rusty, missing closet doors, and closet doors that don't work. The hotel did cut our room rate 50% for the first night but their entire attitude was too laid back about the entire affair. Especially after the 2nd morning when I told them my 11 month old granddaughter caught, killed, and almost ate a cockroach and they only discounted the room $30. $159 for a room with cockroaches is way too much!! I will update this review if I get better satisfaction from the property management.
We were welcomed with a Marriott Gold Elite gift and received a quiet queen Studio. The bed was so small that my husband slept on the sofa. Staff was professional and service oriented. Rooms were clean, but could stand updating. My only complaint was the luggage carts that were not sufficient to transport a lot of luggage.
Wedding weekend hotel staff was nice greet you with a smile every time you pass the front desk hotel lobby was beautiful and updated, we received a queen one sofa bedroom with a kitchenette although a queen bed seems a little smaller than a regular queen size bed the room was clean and nice but however is needs some updating to the bathroom chaulk was kind of Messy needs replacing morning breakfast was awesome stayed stock up until the last 5 minutes of breakfast time with awesome food bacon eggs waffles grits cereal and milk breakfast burritos you can make yourself oatmeal with all the fixings and trimmings awesome place for families wall had some black area's in the kitchen
We stay at a lot of Marriott properties - this is the lowest energy, oldest Residence Inn I have seen. Also it is very hard to find as it has been surrounded by malls and freeways and crazy streets. The rooms were OK, clean and updated. Plus, front desk staff seemed bored and uncaring. Not recommended.
Excellent place to stay. Close to many restaurants and rooms are spacious and fairly clean. Some of the furniture shows wear but bed is firm and comfortable. Tub has been painted over and shows where the new finish is chipping off Overall I would return when I have to return to Baton Rouge
First stay here and as well the last Hotel checkin okay but after producing my id asked for my telephone numbers and home address Room was beat Paint off wall and bathroom had holes in the wall Worn out- see electric panel with dirt on it Breakfast fine As in other Marriott hotels had to ask for a paper copy of my bill on other occasions Disturbing on the decline of this brand on recent visits
We were in the area to look at some used vehicles and needed to spend the night in Baton Rouge. We selected to stay at this property and redeemed a free night. The property is located in retail shopping areas with lots of restaurants. This is an older property which seemed to be updated a couple of years of ago. The lighting in the parking area is very limited which leaves a lot of the parked vehicles in darkened areas. More lighting is needed in the parking lot. The property accommodated our profile of the highest floor and away from elevator. The common areas were clean and had a very strong fragrance in the hallway as well as the suite. The one bedroom suite itself was clean and updated. I was shocked to see stainless steel whirlpool appliances in the kitchen. The furniture in the suite was updated and showed little wear. The linen on the bed was noticeably fresh. There is nothing like the smell of clean sheets on a bed. The bathroom wasn’t updated, but seemed to be clean. The closet door seemed to be off track and was hard to open. When we redeem a reward night with ANY hotel, you can look forward to finding something off about the room. The room itself, I didn't have many complaints, but we could hear the highway traffic from the freeway. We awoke in the morning to a noticeable odor that permeated throughout the hotel only to notice that smell was outside as well. Since this a pet friendly hotel, we did not partake of the free breakfast.
