Stayed two nights at this business hotel just next to the conference centre in Basel. Hotel is a typical business hotel. Service is good, rooms are clean, and breakfast is good. The conference centre is only a 5 minutes walk. Airport, approx. 10-5 minutes with taxi.
This hotel was ok. Friendly staff and the room was very average. They offer breakfast around 26 Swiss franks per person, you can skip it. My wife asked for fresh orange juice and they told her half a glass would be 8 fr, and if she wanted a full glass it would be 12 fr. Just the type of service you can expect to receive. It is close to public transportation and easy to get into the city. Not a lot do do directly around the hotel. If we were to go back to Basel we would try another hotel.
Just back from 4 nights staying at the Dorint. From a Basel perspective it represents good value as it is a decent, modern room with en suite and flat screen TV. The tram line is a 5 minute walk away and will bring you to the city centre or Volta Platz with minutes. This is my 3rd stay here and the standard has been consistent. From a constructive feedback perspective I would recommend that the hotel give a complementary bottle of water each night or your stay instead of just the first night. Some milk sachets would also be welcome as a lot of travelers like to have a cup of tea or coffee in their room. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers especially if you are visiting either the Messe or the Novartis Campus. Equally for holiday makers attending the Musical Theatre. The breakfast is good and there is a nice little bar for night caps too.
Hotel is located close to the fairground, between the city center and DB Station (Germany). A tramway line at the corner of the street connects to city center in about 10 minutes. From city center is possible to reach by tramway the French border (Tramway Line No. 11) or Weil am Rhein in Germany (Tramway Line No. 8). Hotel rooms are spacious and well-appointed with kettle, sat tv, free wifi. Breakfast is not included in room rate ad cost around 25 CHF per person. The quality of the food is good.Hotel is providing of a private garage at extra cost. Overall, I can say that this hotel is a good compromise for staying close to the Altstadt and save money except during fair dates
I actually stayed in this hotel 4 times between the end of May and beginning of July 2017. Hotels in Basel are expensive and this is at the more affordable end of the scale. It is a good business hotel - has the facilities you need, rooms are good size and clean, staff are friendly. It was very handy for my business meeting and a reasonable 20 minute walk down to the river and the older part of Basel.
Stayed here as part of a conference I was part of in Basel Location wise it's in the lesser Basel Very very close to the convention centres About 5-7min walk to train station and 5 min walk to tram station Very clean safe neighbourhood as is most of Switzerland Hotel staff were nice and spoke great English Check in was easy The room was very small with no air con It did get very hot But the reception will lend you a small fan but it's nothing compared to proper air con Breakfast was included in our stay and it was nice enough with lots of variety I felt. Overall great location for the convention centre , nice staff and breakfast but small rooms w no air con.
We stayed here for just 1 night as a stop over, it was very clean, staff friendly and only about 15/20 mins into the centre by foot. Nice underground car park as well. They have us adaptors as ours didn't work as well. All round good trip.
The hotel is super clean, organised and modern. It's probably designed for business people more than people taking a short trip to Basel. Breakfast is good, but a bit pricey. You can help yourself to whatever you want, from a selection of hot and cold items. I have to say the trainee waitress was very nice and helpful to all the people in the restaurant as was the chef who kept replenishing the food and saying good morning to all everyone. All of the other staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. My check in experience was very quick, but also uninspiring. No advice was given and I had to rip off and take my own map. The staff member only cared about taking my card details. Nobody said hello when going in or out of the hotel once. At check out, I wasn't asked how my stay was or even given a smile. They're just after payment. I was asked to pay x amount with no please of manners. When I asked if the card details I gave at check in could be used, I simply got the reply of no. With no supporting explanation what so ever. I then asked what the amount payable was for, and I was given an abrupt "city taxes and breakfast". Whilst some people would see this as no problem, I think manners and a bit of customer service goes a long way!
This is a nice clean hotel near the smaller of the two Basel train stations (Basel Badischer Bahnhof). Walking distance is about 10-15 minutes. The room is a good size. Bed is hard. Duvet comfortable, although the AC did not work and I didn't need the duvet. I was on the 5th floor but the road noise from below was still loud, as if the window were cracked. Room comes with a transport pass, which is a nice touch and allows you to see a bit of basel if you want.
I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip, couldn't fault the place. Staff were wonderful, breakfast very good and had a lunch there also which was also very good. The restaurant manager arranged for the food to be on the table at 12 noon as we had an early meeting and needed to leave at 12.15
