I actually stayed in this hotel 4 times between the end of May and beginning of July 2017. Hotels in Basel are expensive and this is at the more affordable end of the scale. It is a good business hotel - has the facilities you need, rooms are good size and clean, staff are friendly. It was very handy for my business meeting and a reasonable 20 minute walk down to the river and the older part of Basel.
Stayed here as part of a conference I was part of in Basel Location wise it's in the lesser Basel Very very close to the convention centres About 5-7min walk to train station and 5 min walk to tram station Very clean safe neighbourhood as is most of Switzerland Hotel staff were nice and spoke great English Check in was easy The room was very small with no air con It did get very hot But the reception will lend you a small fan but it's nothing compared to proper air con Breakfast was included in our stay and it was nice enough with lots of variety I felt. Overall great location for the convention centre , nice staff and breakfast but small rooms w no air con.
We stayed here for just 1 night as a stop over, it was very clean, staff friendly and only about 15/20 mins into the centre by foot. Nice underground car park as well. They have us adaptors as ours didn't work as well. All round good trip.
The hotel is super clean, organised and modern. It's probably designed for business people more than people taking a short trip to Basel. Breakfast is good, but a bit pricey. You can help yourself to whatever you want, from a selection of hot and cold items. I have to say the trainee waitress was very nice and helpful to all the people in the restaurant as was the chef who kept replenishing the food and saying good morning to all everyone. All of the other staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. My check in experience was very quick, but also uninspiring. No advice was given and I had to rip off and take my own map. The staff member only cared about taking my card details. Nobody said hello when going in or out of the hotel once. At check out, I wasn't asked how my stay was or even given a smile. They're just after payment. I was asked to pay x amount with no please of manners. When I asked if the card details I gave at check in could be used, I simply got the reply of no. With no supporting explanation what so ever. I then asked what the amount payable was for, and I was given an abrupt "city taxes and breakfast". Whilst some people would see this as no problem, I think manners and a bit of customer service goes a long way!
This is a nice clean hotel near the smaller of the two Basel train stations (Basel Badischer Bahnhof). Walking distance is about 10-15 minutes. The room is a good size. Bed is hard. Duvet comfortable, although the AC did not work and I didn't need the duvet. I was on the 5th floor but the road noise from below was still loud, as if the window were cracked. Room comes with a transport pass, which is a nice touch and allows you to see a bit of basel if you want.
I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip, couldn't fault the place. Staff were wonderful, breakfast very good and had a lunch there also which was also very good. The restaurant manager arranged for the food to be on the table at 12 noon as we had an early meeting and needed to leave at 12.15
I was impressed from the moment I entered this place. Free garaged parking and the most helpful and friendly check in I've ever encountered was a perfect start to my first visit to Basel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is clean throughout and public transport is made easy thanks to free tickets and close connections near by. I'd happily return.
Very friendly staff, lovely modern and clean room. They even give you a free public transport voucher for the duration of your stay. Slightly outside the city centre but not a massive deal breaker. Although there was a tram stop nearby.
The bathroom was modern and spotless but it lacked a big body towel. I had to request a second one and I had to leave notes for the chamber maid so she didn't take them away. There were no complimentary toiletries to speak of. There was no iron or ironing board in my room but there was an ironing room near the lift (4th floor) so I was not inconvenienced too much. Breakfast was always brought to my room promptly and it was generous. The staff generally provided good service.
I stayed only one night with my wife. The highlights were: 1. Very close to Messe (convention center) 2. Nice breakfast buffet 3. Parking right under hotel 4. Decent wifi 5. A free bus and rail pass was provided Areas that are not ideal: 1. About a mile from old town 2. Rooms are tiny 3. Minimal toiletries in bathroom 4. Noises can be heart too easily from other rooms and hallway I would recommend this for a business stay when visiting the convention center.
