Great location. Funky, cool property. The room was a bit lacking in quality, amenities, etc., but nobody stays there for the thread count.

Staff was wonderful. Room was very clean. Pool bar, courtyard, and attached restaurant were great.

My family of 3 (2 parents, 1 teen) visited Austin for 1 night. We wanted to stay someplace that was really fun. The Austin motel did not disappoint. Our room had lips wallpaper and 2 bright yellow beds. My 14 year old loved it, and it was definitely kitchy & weird. It reminded me of the motel rooms I used to stay in the 70s when on vacations as a child with my family. It was small, had a small bathroom, 2 beds, and a slightly noisy AC under the window. The AC did a fantastic job at cooling the room, which was great, since the heat outside was brutal. The worst parts, which weren't a big deal, was that we could hear everything outside of the room, and the beds were a little difficult to get out of. We were in an old 2 story building in that you really can't see from S. Congress instead of the cute buildings you can see. We knew that when booking since it was the only rooms with 2 beds available. Location is great for visiting SoCo for their delicious restaurants and shopping. Geuro's & Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds were hits with the whole family. The Congress Avenue Bridge and 6th Street isn't too far. It's a small 15-20 minute walk, but in June it's way too hot for that. It was a 5 minute drive to 2nd street for Toy Joy and Yummi Joy which is worth a visit. This is not a place to stay if you are looking for luxury, but it is perfect if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, with a bit of nostalgia, a convenient location, free parking and a clean room.

Perfect location. Beautiful staff. Relaxing environment.

Great vibe and location. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely return.

I have stayed many times at the Austin Motel and it's always a very solid experience. Staff is wonderful and friendly. The rooms are being renovated and are funky/retro and fit the vibe of the area. The bathrooms are dated but workable and clean. The pool is pleasant and fun. The best thing is the location, can't be beat. Definitely stay here if you want a reasonable SoCo experience done well.
