The Waldorf was an amazing hotel. The staff could not have been nicer and they treated you like royalty! The location was excellent, was within walking distance to all sites to see. The hotel staff was amazing with making suggestions and dinner reservations, would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again ourselves.

We stayed here for one night for our first year wedding anniversary. Ever since passing this beautiful hotel on the Henrengracht Gentleman's Canal, I knew I would experience a stay here. This is a dreamy classic hotel in a great location. The lobby is stunning & envelopes you in light when you enter. The hotel smells beautiful & the floors are marble, fresh flowers everywhere and opulent furnishings. The staircase is the absolute showstopper of the building. A honour to walk up those stairs that dignitaries have used for 3 centuries. I loved the history behind the hotel. The courtyard/garden at the back of the hotel is also beautiful. Sylvia checked us in & was warm, helpful and friendly. This was a relief because sometimes service in a 5 star hotel of this calibre, interactions can be professional & courteous but a little lacking in warmth & they can be insincere & robotic. Sylvia was simply a joy & gave us a little history of this stunning building. We were able to check into our canal view room early. It was a little smaller than expected but had an amazing canal and street view, right at the corner of the hotel. The decor is very classic. Big comfy bed amazing roll top bath and bathroom with nice toiletries. We had a vase of roses delivered to our room, little dutch sweets later on by the maid and a bottle of Cava for our anniversary. This was a very much appreciated & welcome touch but unfortunately the card was addressed to the wrong couple. Hotel apologised but didn't replace the card which was a shame. The concierge staff were great, so very helpful and friendly especially the Asiam gentleman who gave us an excellent revommendation for Vietnamese food just around the corner. We took advantage of the complimentary bike hire and spent an hour or so riding around Amsterdam via Vondelpark in the rain! Scary but fun. I loved my Waldorf Astoria bike with the wicker basket! We then spent some time in the lovely small but relaxing spa. We swam in the pool and tried the sauna and steam room. We drank cucumber and mint water beside the pool. Very relaxing. We ate in the Goldfinch Brasserie for dinner and had the best rib eye steak we have ever had and gorgeous chocolate crepes. Big portions and completely delicious food. The breakfast room is also pretty and the buffet gorgeous with a few limited hot options or you can order extra off a menu for a supplement. Staying in this hotel was a treat for us and not something we would normally do so my husband was a little uncomfortable with how "posh" the hotel was as he didn't always feel he could completely relax but I loved it! There were a few little misses such as the wrong name on our anniversary card which wasn't a big issue and not a thing I would usually mention but for the price you pay here you do expect pretty much close to perfection. I was also slightly disappointed not to receive a chocolate key inviting us to The Vault bar that so many other reviewers have referred to. Also for the calibre of hotel I would have expected maybe a few more complimentary items snacks/treats in the room itself aside from the paid mini bar. I have stayed in very nice but much less expensive hotels that have included complimentary snacks and little gifts so would have expected more of this at The Waldorf Astoria. Overall our stay was wonderful. I think you pay more for the experience of being there itself than anything else. In honestly I've probably had better rooms and in-room amenities in other hotels of a lesser calibre and much cheaper, but the dreaminess of the hotel cannot really be compared to anything else. It's simply stunning and classic. I was walking around on cloud 9 whilst I was there. Despite the fact the experience wasn't 100% perfect, I still feel it was worth every penny for the experience I will take away with me.

Central location close to most attractions. Beautiful views of the canal. Elegantly done clean and good size rooms. All types of facilities: gym, spa, pool. Excellent service and very helpful staff which I think are the best assets of this hotel. Very good breakfast. I believe it is difficult to find a hotel of this quality in Amsterdam.

A great stay at the Waldorf Amsterdam. Lovely room over looking the canal with high ceiling and muted light tones giving a feel of calm and light. A vase full of yellow tulips complimented the look. Pod coffee / tea in the room Plenty of bottled water Complimentary newspapers Beautiful bathroom with large bathtub and separate walk-in shower. Loo in separate small room. Ferragamo toiletries and plenty of them refreshed throughout the day. Turn down Service and bathroom refresh. Good breakfasts. Friendly helpful courteous staff. Pleasant downstairs bar and stylish light and airy upstairs tea room. If you like my reviews follow me on twitter @tonytraveller and follow my blog: search for thetonytraveller on google

This is by far one of my favorite hotels in the world to stay in. I feel very much cared for here and would literally not leave my room given the choice. Tea is on the house for guests in general in the iconic globe room. The decor is always impressive and the staff attentive... they can seem a bit snooty but they have always been accommodating to my needs.

flew in to catch a concert at the Royal Concertgebouw the Waldorf Amsterdam is a fantastic hotel with easy access to all of the sites of a great city (Van Gogh museum, Rijks museum, Royal Concert GeBouw) efficient check in- was grateful that my room was ready at 1030 am. beautifully appointed room with high ceilings. room was a canal view on the street level but I never heard a thing.

Wonderful property and highly recommend staying here. Centrally located to the wander the shops and canals, in the historic district. The attention to detail shows throughout the hotel. The staff is very attentive, warm & welcoming! Excellent restaurants (2 Michelin star). Will definitely be back.

What an amazing experience, from the moment we checked in until the moment we left. Every staff member truly seemed to really enjoy their job, as was evident with our many interactions with them. The location of the hotel was perfect. Would definitely recommend the afternoon High Tea, definitely make a reservation in advance. Having traveled throughout many cities in Europe, this hotel stands out as one of our best experiences, mainly due to the wonderful staff.

Simply the best in terms of service, experience, rooms and food. Will come back again and again. Hotel team make you feel very welcome, rooms are fantastic and having stayed a few times, it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in around the world.

This hotel has a very attentive and professional staff, and is located on a beautiful piece of property close to the city center! My room had a view of the gardens and the southern cityscape. I will be staying here on all subsequent trips! I recommend this hotel for both business travel and leisure travel.
