The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a Central Station. The hotel clerk who checked us in was unable to confirm the payment of the guest in front of us and took 20 minutes trying to reconcile the transaction. While checking us in the clerk commented that we had the best unit in the hotel because it was in the back and very quiet. This was far from the truth. Our room was next to the breakfast area and we were awakened by the kitchen staff daily at around 4:30 am. Additionally, the public bathrooms were next to our unit, giving us wonderful bathroom noises at the most inconvenient times. Our bathroom was tiny but worse than the size was the horrible lighting. I had to put my contacts in my eyes in the bedroom area. The rooms were outrageously costly (although it was the weekend after Kings Day). The daily continental breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Do yourself a favor: go a few blocks away from Central Station for a quieter, less expensive alternative.

The hotel is located very near many attractions and good restaurants in Amsterdam. It's also across from the Amsterdam Centraal train station, so it's also a great place from which to launch trips outside of Amsterdam itself. The staff are friendly and very helpful. A decent breakfast comes with the room price. The rooms themselves are very basic in their furnishings, and the hotel is somewhat worn in condition. Our bed was OK, but did sag on the edges. When we arrived our bathroom sink didn't drain, but the staff took care of the problem when we notified them.
