I’ve found my perfect room at the Holiday Inn Express in Ames, Ia. Great hotel location, wonderful parking the biggie for me the room was later out perfect with great places to sit and work. I can’t remember sleeping any better ever. Here’s my problem - how do I take that room everywhere I stay? Hats off to the manager and all the staff especially Ian, and Sheila plus my hero Larry for 3 fantastic breakfasts. Your all rockstars in my book. Big D
I found myself in Ames and needing a hotel. A year ago I showed up at this hotel by accident. I had made a phone reservation at one Holiday Inn and my GPS brought me to this one. This time I chose this one on purpose.
Had a pleasant stay. Rooms large, comfy and clean. The bed is wonderful. Staff very friendly. Loved all the choices for breakfast! Set preferences for higher floor away from elevator and that's exactly what we got.
Stayed at the hotel while traveling through on I-35. Arrived late, but late check-in was no problem. Ha a good night's sleep, had a decent breakfast, then left. The staff is friendly and professional. The only recommendation I would make is they should add HBO or some other movie channel to the channels offered. Obviously, it's not the Ritz, but it does what it does well for this price point.
I stay here 2 or three times a week for work and the staff are really nice and help anyway they can and Sheila the front desk person is awesome. The rooms are very clean and up-to-date the only thing is there should be soda and snack machines on every level
I recently stopped overnight in Ames on my way to a family wedding. I hadn't booked a hotel, as I didn't know how far I'd get driving that night, and ended up in the lobby of this hotel without a reservation. They were friendly, and able to help me with a room. The room was very nice...appeared to have been updated recently, it was clean, neat, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and it just made for a very nice place to unwind after a long day and get a good night's sleep. The breakfast the next morning was very good, lots of different choices and very tasty. All in all, a great stop, and I will definitely stay here again if I ever get back to Ames.
I've stayed at the HI Express in Ames at least 4 times now, and even though our corporate agent suggested a cheaper place across the street, I refused. Ian was super during check in, had me on my way to my room in 3 minutes or less. Breakfast is always hot and ready on time with plenty of coffee. I expect to visit Ames another 4 times in the coming year and will always stay here.
I have spent the last 2 months living in hotels as I was attending two different training academy’s. My last 2 weeks were in Ames,Iowa. This is by far the best stay I’ve ever experienced at any hotel ever. I loved the warm friendly staff. I always looked forward to seeing Ian every evening. He had great ideas for places to eat and things for me to do around town...also, he has the most cheerful ties 🙂. Larry greeted me every morning with a friendly “good morning”..he even asked if I had a good nights sleep. He kept the coffee full and made sure there was plenty of yummy breakfast for all of us. My room was serviced by the house keepers many times..(Rosa, Dana, both Maria’s, and Shianna) unfortunately,I never got the pleasure of personally meeting them. But , there was no doubt they had visited my room. They do such a great job of keeping things clean. I believe it was Shianna (spelling?) that counted out the rest of my nights I had left, until checkout, and left that many makeup remover wipes.. Finding them upon arrival made feel special and made me smile...(I’m sure it saves a lot of washcloths from getting stained by carrying those wipes) I just want to say “THANK YOU” for such a pleasant stay in Ames, Iowa. I’ll for sure remember this place, if I’m ever traveling into the area again.
Front desk personnel Ian is always very helpful. There was a time was booked for wrong date and he was able to work out my stay at a different location due to fully booked rooms and also help find a means of transport I know things happen and wasn't his fault so I was easy goin about it but over all nice stay for the Ames area
We stayed at this Hotel, but we almost didn't. The grounds did not look well. The grass needed to be cut a week ago and there were lots of weeds. the entry had dozens of dead crickets and bugs. Not a good first impression. The lobby was not much better. The entry and lobby rugs were very dirty and there was a thick layer of dust on the lobby furniture. With that being said, I'm kind of creeped out by unclean public spaces. The elevator and breakfast room were clean. Our room was very clean and we both had a very good sleep. I wish the front desk staff could have taken a few minutes and had the rugs vacuumed and the bugs swept up.
