As they say, you get what you pay for. This place is fine...all the wanted basics and breakfast. nothing fancy but everything you need to spend the night. Their is two Holiday Inn Expresses in Ames so make sure you have correct address. I saw sign and went to the other one.
Stayed in Ames for the Lego FIRST competition in January and it was a great choice. The hotel had a nice sized pool which our son and some of his team used. The breakfast choices were exactly what we expected and there was a little something for everyone. The hotel was very clean and, even though it was FILLED with kids, very quite. This was a great choice for our stay and we would definitely stay again.
We had to make an emergency trip to Ames because our daughter was in the hospital. We had no reservation. The reception (front desk) personnel where friendly, efficient and professional. They found us a room with no problem. We ended up having to stay a total of 4 nights, again, no problem. Though all hotel staff were fantastic, we must give a special shout out to Zach and Sheila. I told them about my daughter being in the hospital and about 3 hours later flowers were delivered to our room....from Zach and Sheila. We were so touched by this random act of kindness and caring, it really lifted our spirits. A big thank you to you both! Anyway if you are in Ames, say at the Holiday Inn Express. Recommended!
I booked a night on Thursday as Friday was already booked. I was in town to see my mother in the hospital. On that Thursday I found out she was dying. I called the hotel to ask if they get any rooms open please let me have one as Mom is dying and I needed to be here. Ian went above and beyond. He asked if a queen room would be OK (I was in a King, only because that was the last one they had). Anything would work. I get there Thursday to check in and Ian had a King size suite for me and he held it for a week for me! I ended up needing it 5 days. Then I forgot my phone charger in my room. I wasn't even out of town when Sheila called to tell me they had my charger. This is a hotel that truely cares about people! Plus their breakfast was goo and the rooms were
I travel to Ames regularly and the staff always recognizes me and is always happy to see me. Sheila does a great job keeping the place looking and feeling great. I've never had issues with noise or cleanliness, and any issues I have had were solved immediately. This is the best place to stay in Ames, I highly recommend it.
Sheila was at the front desk. I arrived a little early and she was great at checking me in very quickly. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The motel was easy to find and just a couple of blocks off the interstate.
Newly updated hotel with great staff. I have stayed at this location a few times in the past. Looking forward to staying again when I am in the area again. Was given a late checkout. Winter weather was the only part I didn't like.
I am an IHG platinum member and stay at quite a few of their properties. For a Holiday Inn Express, this location never disappoints. Rooms are always very clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
They let me check in early and Sheila at the front desk was very nice and signed me up for the rewards system. The room is clean and decent sized and the bed is comfortable. The pool looks nice too. So far so good!
Familiarity. Good people/service, comfortable beds, clean hotel, nice quick breakfast. I got in late and had to head out early, but typical of HI Express, they got me to my room right away and I got a good nights sleep before my early meeting.
