I've stayed at the HI Express in Ames at least 4 times now, and even though our corporate agent suggested a cheaper place across the street, I refused. Ian was super during check in, had me on my way to my room in 3 minutes or less. Breakfast is always hot and ready on time with plenty of coffee. I expect to visit Ames another 4 times in the coming year and will always stay here.
I have spent the last 2 months living in hotels as I was attending two different training academy’s. My last 2 weeks were in Ames,Iowa. This is by far the best stay I’ve ever experienced at any hotel ever. I loved the warm friendly staff. I always looked forward to seeing Ian every evening. He had great ideas for places to eat and things for me to do around town...also, he has the most cheerful ties 🙂. Larry greeted me every morning with a friendly “good morning”..he even asked if I had a good nights sleep. He kept the coffee full and made sure there was plenty of yummy breakfast for all of us. My room was serviced by the house keepers many times..(Rosa, Dana, both Maria’s, and Shianna) unfortunately,I never got the pleasure of personally meeting them. But , there was no doubt they had visited my room. They do such a great job of keeping things clean. I believe it was Shianna (spelling?) that counted out the rest of my nights I had left, until checkout, and left that many makeup remover wipes.. Finding them upon arrival made feel special and made me smile...(I’m sure it saves a lot of washcloths from getting stained by carrying those wipes) I just want to say “THANK YOU” for such a pleasant stay in Ames, Iowa. I’ll for sure remember this place, if I’m ever traveling into the area again.
Front desk personnel Ian is always very helpful. There was a time was booked for wrong date and he was able to work out my stay at a different location due to fully booked rooms and also help find a means of transport I know things happen and wasn't his fault so I was easy goin about it but over all nice stay for the Ames area
We stayed at this Hotel, but we almost didn't. The grounds did not look well. The grass needed to be cut a week ago and there were lots of weeds. the entry had dozens of dead crickets and bugs. Not a good first impression. The lobby was not much better. The entry and lobby rugs were very dirty and there was a thick layer of dust on the lobby furniture. With that being said, I'm kind of creeped out by unclean public spaces. The elevator and breakfast room were clean. Our room was very clean and we both had a very good sleep. I wish the front desk staff could have taken a few minutes and had the rugs vacuumed and the bugs swept up.
I have reviewed this hotel before but after staying there again Saturday night and having a great nights sleep again I just had to say something! We had a nice college student check us in. Rooms are clean, bedding is terrific and mattresses are new and wonderful. On the bed are 2 soft and 2 firm pillows. A great place to stay if in Ames IA. You will sleep great!!
The eager to please staff turned this hotel stay into a 5 star review. I had some work to get done while my husband was at a seminar nearby, so Sheila was able to get me an early check in. My desk chair was wobbly and too short, so I asked if I might be able to switch chairs. Sheila was concerned that a chair from another room might pose the same problem, so Ame immediately brought me a nicer chair from the meeting room and stayed to make sure it worked for me. The extra effort made it much easier for me to get my work done.
Stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to view the eclipse in Missouri. Hotel appeared to be recently remodeled as everything was fresh and clean. Bath towels looked to be brand new. Comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. Generous sized 3rd floor king room that was really quiet. Breakfast offerings were the usual, something for everyone. Check-in staff was pleasant and efficient.
My co-worker and I were traveling home from a long week out of town. When we arrived there was a mistake in my name. Ian was able to get it figured out so quickly it was as if there never was a problem. Cathie was awsome getting us checked in and was so polite. These two deserve and award for being so good at what they do. On top of that the rooms were clean, cool, and quite. Thank you again Cathie and Ian you made then end of my trip the best part.
As a road warrior I always stay at IHG Holiday Inn property's across this great country. This property is clean, comfortable and consistent as we expect for the corporate nation chain. Keep up the good work.
This is a very nice hotel to stay in. Ian was at the desk to help us check in, very helpful! The beds are so comfortable. The breakfast area was spacious, food was good, offered eggs, muffins, yogurt, sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, and sausage. A variety of juices, milk and coffee were also available.
