stayed here four times, first three times on the second floor. 5 stars for those stays. however, if I ever stay here again, I will demand to be on the second floor, as this time I was on the first floor at the very end of the building, and it was like I was transported back 50 years. Bed was cheap and uncomfortable, sink faucet was loose, TV was old and blurry, and bathroom light bulb was burnt out. But not the worst part...I don't know if there were furniture movers above us, but they were working from about 10pm to 2am non-stop. Heard every step and movement like it was in our own room. Heard every time they turned on the bathroom fan, faucet, shower, or flushed the toilet. Constant noise...and I'm guessing they really weren't that loud; just that there was nothing to muffle the sound. My daughter and I couldn't sleep until after 2am it was so loud.

Breakfast was okay, but not great. The eggs I think would do better as scrambled. The biscuits and gravy were great though. Everything else was great about the stay, and I will look to get another room if I need to stay overnight in Ames again.

The Best Western Plus in Ames was really great for our stay! We were in town to see family for a few days and spent the nights here as well as breakfast everyday. The Pros - Price, Breakfast food + coffee machine, Safe location, Clean and well kept lobby and rooms. Cons - the hot tub was wayyyy too hot to use. The beds and pillows could be better. Overall a good place for the value that is really well kept up by staff! I will recommend!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I was traveling to Ames with a friend who was having surgery. Upon arriving, the whole room smelled like toilet bowl cleaner. Our originally planned 3 night stay turned into one; the beds were like sleeping on plyboard that was on some springs. The paint was cracking and peeling in several spots on the walls. Let’s not even talk about the tacky “crown molding” job in the hallways. When I inquired the following morning about either mattress padding or bed toppers - they looked at me like I was crazy. When I realized that wasn’t going to happen - I asked for check out that day without a fee. While they complied with my ask - once she realized she could check me out, even though I booked 3rd party - they did so without anything even close to an apology, and before confirming that was what I would like to do. Service was beyond rude, and the property is way under sub par.
